Anyone know who plays the solo fills (before each of the verses) and the solo itself in this? I think it's Terji for all of them but I'm not sure...thanks in advance!
i love this band, and even though i am from Australia, i believe in norse, greek, egyptian, sumerian and mayan mythologies, i believe they are all connected in the fact that instead of gods, they are aliens, and instead of heaven or hell, its earth and space, aswell as a possible hollow earth, which based on my research seems to be the actual location of asgard, valhalla which seems to support all of said mythologies 'stories' and legends
@metalguitarZomg2 i actually meant to say earth then space, insinuating that earth is hell and that space (i.e the ability to space travel, colonize other planets, have access to that information, technology, mystery is heaven)
@EdikShepherd you can pm me your answer if you like, this chat has character limit, if you have as much evidence as i do then you'll probably need more typing space
@hakunchr what language do they sing in when not english? faroese, norwegian or another skandinavian language? I've gotten different answers each time, none by a faroese person
@MotiCompleto008 Faroese mostly, but they do use other fragments of other languages when Faroese doesn't have the right word. At least that's what I understand to be the truth. I believe I'm pretty spot on.
@MotiCompleto008 Most of their songs are in English. 2nd are the Faroese songs. They have three songs in Old Danish language: "Konning Hans", Ramund hin Unge and Sinklars Visa. In the song Brennivín the chorus is sung in Icelandic language.
@finalfantasy99999999 The warrior is Þór (Thor) and the creature is the giant Þrymr (Thrym). In Þrymskviða (The Lay of Thrym), Þór's hammer Mjölnir is stolen by Þrymr, so Þór dresses up as a bride-to-be, goes to Jotunheim with Loki, and pretends to want to marry Þrymr. He convinces the giant to let him hold Mjölnir, and then proceeds to smash the heads of every giant in the room.
Im almost angry at how good this is.. because I picked up the new Primordial album today and Alestorms new one. And I wont be listening to them for a couple days. Holy shit, this album is so good!
@mRjAcKmAn95 Yeah I agree, but why be bothered by something which isn´t real? There are no gods, even Heri (the singer from Týr who writes all the lyrics) says that
@berserkur19 Actually (if we're going to bring up the facts) Heri has stated in interview that he's a pantheist, and refers to himself as pagan, albeit rather agnostically. At any rate, I *do* believe in them, but still find the argument childish. Yes, common portrayal in old art and literature is with red hair, but when we start getting stuck on little details, we fall into the same trap as a the Abrahamics with their Torah/Bible/Quran, thinking myth is divine writ (it isn't).
@bigpileofcrock I wasn´t arguing, I was only saying that he was often portrayed with red hair, I didn´t claim that he had red hair.
I don´t know if heri has become a pantheist, but I once met him in town at night, a bit drunk, and then he said that was an atheist. I know that it sounds a bit hard to believe that I just met him like that, but The Faroe Islands are a small place.
@berserkur19 some people choose to take up the "pagan hammer" because of culture(me included) and some decide to do it because it is interesting... just because he said he was an atheist the basic relligious ideas remain you know.
@FolkMetalPiper The Germans weren't really vikings. The vikings were Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, SOME finnish. They went to many places, like England and Faraoe and settled, but the Germans were .. Germans.
@KarolineSadowski i know... but Germans are as good as Vikings! :D Erinnert euch an Herman und andere!Wir stehen den Wikingern (bis auf die Seefahrt :D) in nichts nach!
@KarolineSadowski Yes,right. But in the north of Germany(where I live),there were vikings too !the biggest City of the vikings Haithabu is about 10 km from me ! SO my grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand-grand father so don't they the germans (a part of the germany after german - danish war 1864) weren't vikings at all ;)
@berserkur19 thats like saying jesus isnt real. and ya know what? he isnt real. its all just a matter a what you choose to believe. i believe in norse mythology because it actually makes sense and has meaning. Plus it is considered the PRE christian faith. So according to time it comes into play before christ. (so those of you who think MARVEL created thor... you are silly.) I also choose to believe in the gods because cant stand all the christian yuppies preaching about jesus and their sins.
@FolkMetalPiper good one... but no, the vikings brought the raid hair with them, during the raiding and colonization of ireland, they also brought blonde hair all over the world
@FolkMetalPiper Whoa, dude. #1 According to viking legend he DID have red hair. #2 Red hair aint Irish! It originated in scandinavia. The only reason the irish have red hair is because they were raped/married by norsemen #3 Do you play bagpipes? So do I, respect
@skjaldulfr yo dumbass red hair and blonde hair are a mutation in genetics so saying it originated in norsemen and no mutliple races of WHITE men and women is retarded. its not because they raped so many of them that this happened do you know how many times a day they'd have to have sex with enough women to actually do this you uneducated prick. fuck you the gaels kicked your ass and they'd do it again.
In swedish he is called Tyr and its pronounced.... Tyr.
