wish i could have seen these guys in concert back when they were at the to of their game. I wasnt even alive at the time.......i hate all the modern radio junk of my generation. Long live true rock and roll
Thanks for taking the time to share this.I have been a Trower/Dewar fan since my teenage years in the early 70's & on through my naval service of the mid 70's mid 80's;they helped me get through some dark days in my life with the poetry,Robin's awsome playing, & Jame's awsome voice.I can't imagine how hard it has been on RT loosing James but he keeps treking on.That is part of what makes a LEGEND,and that he is along with James.I hope he can play another 40+ years. ROCK-ON
Absolutely love this song......it has been bouncing around in my head (literally.. lol) since early 70's. One of R. T.'s best... for sure. James Dewar.....awesome. R.I.P.
Interesting note about what I learned about why James Dewar was gone so early. I ran into his daughter here on U-Tube, and after a little back and forth, she told me that James needed a surgery of some type, and the surgeon apparently blew it and James died as a result. What a tragic end to an astounding talent! He used to be a shipfitter in Scotland, where his daughter still lives, until he met Robin somehow, and the rest is history. His daughter is very charming, I must say....
@Aeromarine1000 Yeah that's one tragic story isn't it. Just a huge loss in the music world for sure. At least JD's in a good place now. And you're absolutely right about his daughter.... she's a total sweetheart.
Always among my favs., I was delighted to see how very much this guitar Legend is appreciated. Reading the comments on many of Trower's posted videos lets me know there are still people out there with taste. Not in the Hall of Fame? Not on Rolling Stone's list of top guitarists? Wake up, those responsible. To his real fans and those who appreciate Jimmy Dewars superb vocals, look for Trower's Key Biscuit Flower Hour CD. His version of "Daydream" is 12 mins. of musical heaven. Best I know of.
Growing up in Mobile Alabama in the mid 70's I was listening to Peter Frampton, Foghat and such but then my older brother took me to a Robin Trower Concert. From then on I searched out the heavy blues based rock bands. When I want to relax the day away with smooth guitar jams I pull this music out every time and suddenly I'm transported back to a day of long hair, smilling without a care in the world and I find myself loving life yet again!
This is the same year I saw Robin Trower in Cleveland OH. ( I think it was the Music Hall) I was just 15, it was one of the best shows I have ever seen.
I was just listening to this with headphones on... just absolutely getting lost in the music and memories - when I noticed that James changed up the lyrics in this version.
We were listening down on the rainbow
Where the flowers kiss the sky...
We were children in a garden
where the flowers kiss the sky...
Still sounds awesome though, Robin shreds the solo and James doesn't even blink when passing by 1:45. Those were positively some of the best times of our lives, if only we knew!
The morons at Rolling Stone put "Joan Jett" on their 100 top guitarists and left Trower off the list! That fruit loop Jann W sure runs a great mag, you think?
Show me a better chemistry among musicians if you can. Trower is timeless. I've seen him in the 70's a few times in New Orleans. There was Hendrix and Trower and Paige and a few others. Thank God he is still around. To a great influence on many people's lives, thanks Robin Trower.
Trower has the best chops, the best tone and the very best vibrato in the business. I'v been blessed to have seen him at the Capitol Theater, NJ, Club Bene', NJ, and Starland Ballroom, NJ. He is class act.
i saw robin trower in 77 at the swing auditorium in san bernardino calif, it is a very small place so i was able to be right at the stage to watch this master on guitar play
Thanks for putting this one up. What a magical track. Each one of them hits it just right. The live 1976 version is even more beautiful. Superb. thanks.
This just as great the second time around-- I love the bluesy feel they get at the end.
