  • Nice job on the video looks good. When you have time come visit my channel!

  • "traditional"...do you mean pre-industrial? Also if people had a better diet could that help depression?

  • Wow..and I forgot about the ads right on the video just as I went to fullscreen. I think we need to start a campaign and boycott YouTube and let them know we will not stand for this and the reason for it. I find some of these videos informative and helpful but I mean come on. They will try to place ads anywhere they can. I will disclose a little bit about myself and say I have AD/HD and my attention can be diverted and too much info is not good for my functioning, but come on.

  • Ugh..why must humans try to make money anywhere they possibly can? They have to take something with potential and fuck it up everytime. I guess it's full screen for any video now. I mean..is anyone else annoyed by all of these ads? I notice the same thing with Facebook and I hardly bother with it anymore..info overload. I understand partly the business model behind sites like this but are there any ways to avoid the ads without fullscreen?

  • It's called "monetization" and it is essentially the thesis of capitalism. So long as maximization of profits is the goal it will continue. It's value of having greater efficiency in the company's use resources by obtaining greater profits from the same use. eg. One page with typical web traffic that redirects a greater number of people to profitable links.

Unfortunately, this has the effect of decreasing our efficiency by distracting us and eating up our time, focus, money, etc.

  • I hear you! It's ridiculous. Best to ignore it, let people do what the have to do... Eventually it'll stop. Believe in potential. Until then, I'll be shopping :P

  • Nice video. Mind if i post this one in my channel?

  • That would be great - thanks for helping me again get a broader audience - along with the many other important topics you cover. I'll be in touch.

  • Today I contemplated on the beautiful geometrical patterns in my fruit and it reminded me of the water study, the snow flake structure in harmonious water. I wonder just how much significance this has for our bodies, opposed to the mish mash of dead stuff most people call food today.

  • crazy, i was JUST thinking that looking at the inside of my carrot yesterday! i felt really good about eating it not just cause it tasted good, and is good for me, but also because it was beautiful.

  • Indeed.. there's a feeling we get the more natural foods we eat, like a bliss where we love our food, we get excited about it and its beauty, we feel very grateful for what it brings, like a deeper connection

  • deffinately :)

  • People are said to be frugivores. We are designed to eat fruits. That's why it is called the fruit knowledge of good and evil that Adam and Eve ate. In the garden of Eden there were many fruits.

  • Were elephants harmed in the filming of this video? I just wanna know.

  • Healthy high-five, Loren. Great job!

  • another great video. What are some of the things you eat? What's in your fridge and cupboard?

  • I was considering doing a video on that, but I think diet may be fairly individual in many cases. The starting point IMO is clearly minimally processed traditional foods (something almost no one accomplishes to begin with). But after that, it probably takes some experimenting to see what works best and is most convenient for you as an individual.

  • thanks for the information. I've been soaking my beans and rice in water over night and trying to wean myself from splenda and other substances.

I purchased raw honey and have tried to make small changes gradually to my diet in attempt to return to what I call the ancestors diet. Keep up the good videos. Honored you posted a reply. Deeply respect your thoughtful videos. Makes youtube a valuable resource.

  • good reminder video

    thanks lorax

  • the quality of nutrition that people have obtained has varied - it's not like it's been going strait down the last 2000 years- we probably hit a peak in the late 50s early 60s where we had a variety of food without the huge amount of junk food and people still sat down as a family to eat. As for what is lacking in the diet I'd like to say our minerals are not in good balance- the average person cares about calcium but not magnesium also sodium to potassium is not what it should be.

  • Good information as usual. I always rate your videos as 5 star.

  • Many scientists no longer support megadoses of omega-3's. And some others are starting to believe they are barely essential. Omega 3 (besides ALA) is not very high in most traditional diets unless they are eating fish. And to that point, what evidence is there that cultures with high omega 3 intake are healthier? Not to take away from your points, but just a couple things to consider.

  • Maybe in our natural habitat we don't need any of this, but since we've dispersed throughout the north and south into these artificial means of survival, those nutrients are needed to patch things up for us.

  • Most natural health people tend to overrate how much of these nutrients people need. For instance, the 1:1 ratio between omega 3 and 6 EFA's is not usually found in any natural diet, even though many alternative health people say that it is. There is almost no evidence that the original humans required these really high doses. The anti-inflammatory effects of omega 3's seem to be vastly overrated.

  • Although the corn industry launched that campaign to say high fructose corn syrup is safe it is not.

It pretty much kills your ability to produce insullin so you feel tired all of the time and eventually become diabetic, have higher blood pressure, get fat, have a risk for heart disease, etc...

If HFCS was banned in the US completely billions of dollars would be saved in medical care.

The AMA and corn lobby don't want that.

  • Interesting, but I have one question: what was the average lifespan of a person before the 20th century? Basically, when people still ate traditional diets.

  • doesn't matter really medicine keeps them alive with machines so its hard to compare

  • He is great but... HE KEEPS TURNING HIS EYES TO THE RIGHT SIDE INDICATING A LIE.

  • You're stupid, they're turning to the LEFT anyway...

  • TO MY RIGHT YOU SMART ASS.

  • ahh but neither of you know if he is right or left handed...

  • Interesting video. This trend in our diet is directly effecting my generation. My generation is predicted to be the first generation to get out lived by it's parents. This actually scares me to think about it. Your videos are very informative, and that's exactly what we need right now, if we want to get over this trend of obesity. Keep the videos up. I just wish more people would make notice to the cause.

  • hi loren

i've been watching your vids for about a year now, i love every one of them.

what's your take on b17 aka laetrile and cancer being a vitamin deficiency disorder?

  • Right on, you hit the nail on the head. By the way has anyone ever told you that you look like Forman on That 70's Show? I keep thinking smoke is going to bellow out from behind you. LOL Keep up the great videos!

  • Most neanderthal had a life expectancy of around 30 yrs. I contend that a contributing factor to that was a less-than-ideal diet.

  • I doubt that neanderthals died of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc... If you look at every animal in the natural world, they tend to die from starvation, dehydration, environmental factors, being killed by another animal, etc....

  • As very few modern, pre 30-yr old humans die of these maladies, how would we know that ancient man wouldn't have been afflicted with the same? We find much evidence of death by disease in our studies of anthropology... from tumors to degenerative bone disease.

Modern diet and medicine seems to have pushed many of these ailments 20, or more, years into the life expectancy of today's human. There is little to suggest the hunter/gatherer diet was more conducive to long life.

  • Great stuff Lorax

  • A quality diet is important, it does help with bowel-functioning.

  • Synthetical vitamins should be avoided because most of them do not protect cells as good as vitamins from natural sources. Good video with many important advices. Thanks lorax2013!
