  • fucking lesson.go to hell you idiot.you dont know how to play guitar.:s

  • Great tips & GREAT TEACHER :D

  • 1. Practice 2. practice 3. practice 4. practice 5. practice 6. practice 7. practice 8. practice 9. practice and 10. practice
  • #2 Randomly Stop! Very insightful for you to mention that!!

  • What I've observed (both with drumset private lessons and private practice on guitar), is that you're training first your mind to remember where the notes are, then your muscles for conscious muscle memory, and finally your twitch muscles (which the higher(?) parts of your brain control actively, though you aren't as aware of it. Another approach that I've taken is to first think of what you need to do, then make yourself start playing it, and slowly relax yourself into it, working it down.

  • @ChronoGXay Yes, the method of starting quickly and slowly working it down, decreasing tension, works sometimes for some people. I mostly don't teach that method though, because it doesn't work for everyone, and if you do it wrong you actually end up with more muscle tension/injury/effort than you need!

Really, you can come at it from two angles: first, slowly build up to speed (which drills in the pattern to your brain) and then you can push yourself slightly faster to then slow down.

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar - lol I'm not talking about immediately starting fast- I guess what I was intending to say is that instead of doing a bunch of exercises to build up coordination or eliminate let alone minimize tension so that playing a melody, scale, or riff is easy, just start trying to play it at all (or even take out the smaller rhythmic values and, when you become comfortable with that watered-down version, fill-in some more of the holes. I'm doing with a double bass book right now.

  • @ChronoGXay Ah, that makes sense :-)

  • One does not simply speedguitar into mordor

  • @Bagtas03 - No, they slow everything down first. ;)

  • he looks like jesus

  • I see 2 huge metal fans ...

  • Whats the music at the beginning? and by the way dude, you look very much like Jesper Stromblad

  • @marshallvs100 The guy who used to be in In Flames? That's a compliment I guess lol

The music is my own recording or a Sarabande by Händel, it's a Baroque piece that I just think sounds awesome done on heavy guitars!

  • Excellent advice, all of it. I'd only say using a metronome could be at the top of your list next to playing slowly. I made the mistake of not using one for years because I had very good natural timing already. When I finally shut my own ego up enough to start using a metronome, my playing not only became more rhythmic and cleaner, but my speed increased tremendously.

  • @TreborMarg Yeah, I've always had good natural rhythm too. The metronome just allows you to really focus in on getting everything consistent and cleaner.

  • excellent lesson

  • 6 people are from expertvilliage

  • @101flameboy you mean Noobvilliage.... the just call them self experts...

  • Are you Jesper Stromblad's brother or something ? :D

  • number nine : "subscribe" XDXD ty for sharing the tips :3 !

  • good shit man thanx and the intro and outro beat sick i gotta learn it one day

  • great advice, as a student of guitar who probably has umpteen bad habits from lack of formal training, I thank you

  • Looks like mark morton..

  • could i get the tabs for the intro? lol its feckin epic

  • @SamuelSavage777 I do have the tab to it, and it used to live on my website also...but I took it down. I will re-record the entire song at some point (as I lost the original due to computer crash) and I might re-upload the tabs then :)

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar deff let me know if you do man i appreciate it, good tips btw

  • @SamuelSavage777 Thanks. I'll let you know.

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar Hello, I've been playing guitar for quite a while, I just want to know is it better to practice playing guitar sitting down or standing up?

  • @TheEvaAngelina If you're sitting in the correct position, and have your strap set to a sensible height, then you can- in theory- practise with either. In practice, though, you're probably want to use a combination of sitting down and standing up.

  • @SamuelSavage777 lol seriously? its about 4 notes, can't you learn it by ear?

  • Great tips! Thanks

  • oh

Thor is alive where are your hammer???

  • very good advice, didnt know i looked like such a retard when i plyed xP

  • hey um i watched your video and i got to say it was pretty good im only 13 years old idk if thats a old start or a good start any more advice you can give me you dont have to if you dont want to.

  • @llopezfamily 13 years old is a good time to start :)

If you have any specific questions you can send me a message, but if you want more advice I suggest you visit my website or watch my other videos.

  • @llopezfamily oh ok, for your lessons do you use a web cam on skype or do you use something else on your private lessons online?

  • @llopezfamily I'm still trying to sort that out. I can't find a program to do it with :(

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar use skype its a great way

  • @llopezfamily I would if skype worked on my computer :(

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar well i guess try to find a way, hey i have a question what do you think i should to first when im young practice on my speed, music theory,or learing scales chords and songs, and also does lifting weight affect guitar playing in a good way or in a bad way?

  • @llopezfamily I'll try :)

Lifting weights shouldn't affect your playing at all. I do it myself sometimes. I think you should start by learning songs (because then you'll be able to put the rest of the things in context). Music is about playing songs more than anything else!

  • What's that song?

Idc if it's slow, It sounds so badass it gave me chills

  • @Soldier1287 You mean the intro/outro song? It's a cover of a Baroque piece- Sarabande by Händel.

I used to have a video of it up here but it was old so I took it down. I'm sure if you search you can find the original version (played on violins and strings etc...). It does sound awesome even in the original!

  • you look like the singer of Opeth

  • is this a joke? cause just watched this guy play and he was not fast at all

  • @valkour22 Just because I'm sharing tips on how to speed up your playing, doesn't mean I have the insensitivity to blast through everything at 1000mph.

    Just FYI :)

  • thanks rob

  • TALK LOUDER!!!

  • Smoke a bowl. that wasn't in there.. That relieves all sorts of tension.

  • the metronome tip is golden. thank you.

  • Seve Vai told us to slow down at this guitar show

  • i subscribed and im suddenly faster

  • lol no. 5 go to the gym cuz ur fat

  • @SoSolidXgutxonRS Haha! I'm actually surprised that nobody has brought up Yngwie Malmsteen as a point against that one!

I think any activity that relaxes you can be good- because that's the point I'm getting at: being relaxed is good!

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar or shawn lane!!!

  • @SoSolidXgutxonRS man up and learn to play guitar

  • @SoSolidXgutxonRS oh yeah and stop playing runescape in your mums basement

  • Hey, I've found my pinky is always out when playing power chords, do you have any good ways to fix it.

Also, facial expressions, whats a good way to work on those.

Thanks, I subscribed, your video is very helpful. =D

  • @Nemesiidae Facial expressions?! I'm not sure what you mean by that...

If your little finger is sticking out (away from the fretboard) when you play, it's a sure sign of tension in your hand. You need to slow things down to a point where your finger is no longer sticking out and then slowly build up speed from there.

Remember: it's not just the action you're practicing, it's also the muslces you're building up. Stronger finger muscles will mean less unneeded tension.

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar Cool thanks =D

  • Yup! Ditto! My pinky finger obnoxiously waves "HELLO"!! i always knew it was an issue, but didn't realize how bad it was until I video taped it. And, no doubt this fault affects my playing. I will definitely take this advice! Thank you!

  • @Nemesiidae

use a metronome with the facial expressions. dont go up a speed when you aren't comfortable with the facial expression

  • so instead of video taping, would like sitting in front of a mirror work?

  • @jackass311 It might...but the problem with that is you have to concentrate on playing AND on watching yourself.

If you can do both, or you don't have a camera, then yes it should work well enough. Make sure you're paying attention to the mirror image, though!

  • @Chainsawmaniacguitar yeah, that's true. well then luckily i have a camera!! haha, maybe ill try both out because ive been working on playing stuff without looking at the fret board as much and just listening to the sound and changing it accordingly. then i wont have to rely on sight (looking at my fretboard) and i can pay attention to myself on the spot to see what im doing wrong as i go. all i have to say is that i cant remember how i found your vids, but im glad i did!!! thanks man

  • @jackass311 Have you tried playing in the dark?

    chainsawguitartuition(.net)/blog/playing-in-the-dark/

  • hey sir..does using "Grip Strength Hand Grips" can improve ur guitar playing?

  • @weaponx29 I've answered your question with a video response :)

  • 5* and subbed, i havnt heard anyone say about tension so i did exactly as you said for a while and my playing has got much better, thankyou. KR

  • thx a lot man! ^^
