I was admittedly not a big fan of disco as a genre but also 100% believe there is only two kinds of music: good and bad. And this is really one of the good one. Something about the trumpet and keyboard break at 2:15 always makes me smile, takes me to another place. Never knew the story about her finishing the song in Jamaica until I read the obit this morning. Adios, Andrea, thanks for the memories and the great song.
I was teen when this song made an incredible success in Brazil, and I ever appreciated its powerful pace and arrangement. Some years later, when Disco Era was fading, Andrea True made a show in my town, Santos. Nice memories. Let's make a tribute: let's make it more more more, how she liked it !
The 'cat on the trumpet' is from the horn section of Mighty Sparrow (Slinger Francisco) a legendary calypso band from Trinidad. The late Gregg Diamond wrote the music and played the piano & percussion on the song. He ran into the Mighty Sparrow there in Jamaica and asked them to play on the song. The rest is history. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for posting the vid. R.I.P. Andrea

@74sodapop WOW! You must be young to not know what she was referring to, she was only one of the biggest Adult Entertainers in the early 70's, and this was he one hit! Also during this time, sex was rampant, Andrea was always at Studio 54, this was the time! Takes me back! Youth today don't hit the club as we did back then, they only think they're having fun!
The 70's & disco were just so much fun. Everyone got along at the discos. Didn't matter your race, gender, sexual preference, political preferences, age etc... everyone was just there to have a great time. I'd relive 1976-1980 the rest of my life! Everyone claimed disco as their own.
@chris19046 I agree with you 100%! Those were the BEST five years of music in history! I could also relive them over and over and not get tired of it. Judging by all the comments here on YT, it's amazing how many people feel this way about the disco era...I think it's a universal sentiment. I believe that if today's music industry execs had any common sense, they would bring disco back and stop putting out so much garbage!

@adult1tube this song was all over the radio summer and spring 1976. everyone loved it from 10 year olds to 40 year olds. what was masculine in 1976 to you ? leo sayer, boz scaggs and steve miller or pinky floyd LOL

even the word disco in rooted in european dance music. those grotesque ugly black mulattoe hags like mariah carey and paula abul are not just hideously ugly freaks but there pig shit music is almost as bad as hip hop.
with the excepion of anything nile rodgers made the only black artists who were good had whites behind them like donna summer.
Disco means disk (vinyl), started off as an offshoot of funk, a black phenomenon. Paula Abdul is 100% jewish. Many of your disco favorites loved hip-hop as it started. I think you just don't like black people friend.
discotheque is a european word. you are even more delusional than it appeared. an unwanted reject like you should go back to writing about racism in the gay community. everyone hated rapper's delight in 1979 with a disgust you will never admit. those who run the media will tell people it was liked but it was hated.
you wrote:
"Disco means disk (vinyl), started off as an offshoot of funk, a black phenomenon... Many of your disco favorites loved hip-hop as it started"
discotheque: The word is a portmanteau originally coined in the radio business referring to bins used by Radio DJs for the storage of (gramophone) records--(Greek: discos) and storage (Greek: theke, or thèque in French spelling).
The phenomenon of the disco clubs aka discotheques was an american phenomenon, not european. In the beginning, the only disco clubs were either gay or black - research will clearly show that. Sorry there big guy.
i know it's hard to be black in the gay community where white skin is worshiped but it is not a reason to be an idiot like you are.
discos in europe and america were either gay or black? i remember one close to where i lived that was neither. most discos were in europe or the haunts of white people. do you read invented gay history books written by dejected afro americans? you are clearly mentally challenged and simply lookiing to confront someone to validate your existance.
@The096757 -- "the only black artists who were good had whites behind them"-- Parliament-Funkadelic, Earth Wind & Fire, Mandrill, Ohio Players, Billy Preston, Kool and the Gang, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, and the Isley Brothers are examples of SOME great artists of that era whose work was controlled by black musicians and producers. Distribution, engineering and backup musicians might be another subject but I'm talking about people who had the creative control.
when disco died it was full of black artists like funkadelic ( which were soul/funk acts riding the disco bandwagon) and most white people hated bands like funkadelic and artist like andrea true moved onto new wave. andrea had an album called War Machine relased in 1980s that to this day i still want to buy on cd. you are reallly fabricating some stupid scat. are you really that stupid or just trying to argue? i lived through it and know what was going on back then.
@The096757 Thug urban music is as gay as it gets. There's nothing your average black gang-banger loves more in the chokey than to get it on with his cellmates. Latent homosexuality is a big part of the hip hop culture.
@oliviaethan Me too though I was still living at home and not allowed to go anywhere I liked then. Life was much simpler then. 1977 was a better year as I broke free and went where I wanted.
Man I love the 70s I live them every day and I want MORE MORE MORE you all dig it?!! Oh BTW I have the Andrea Ture Connection More More More on VINYL man!!!
Why the hell is it that everyone thinks just because you listen to disco ,youre gay???? funny cuz i been listenin to it since i was a teen in the 70s and not once,i repeat,NOT ONCE,did i ever feel like a fruit.
Oooooooh, where do you want your love But if you want to know how I really feel Get the cameras rollin' Just get the fuckin goin' Baby, you know my love for you is hard So do me where you want to Me and my innocence you steal More, more, more How do you like it, how do you like it Cum, Cum, Cum Where do you want it, where do you Want it More, more, more How do you like that, how do you like that love Oooh, how do you like that cum! YOU STAND UNCORRECTED!
Wow!! what a trip down memory lane, with the old pictures of L.A. I was in the 4th grade, the disco era was great but very mean to the artists due to the fact it was hard to have more than one hit, a few got lucky or were just exceptional musicans and writers, like "Chic" for example. Though it only lasted a short period, disco was very powerful, and those hits will live longer than any of us.. Peace & Love
This song was sampled at 1999, by a group named Len on the song "Steal My Sunshine". This was the first I heard, but then I looked up for the original. Truly amazing!! And real risky, by that time! Love it!!
did Andrea True, ever go back to doing Porn after this song came out? I know she had a few other hits after this. I saw an interview with her on VH1 years ago. But always been curious if she went back to doing x-rated movies. always loved this song...true 70s pop/disco
andrea true failed to go back doing porn after her third and last album flopped in 1980 because she had difficulty finding one because of her age at 37 yrs. old. after that she permanently retired from singing and also doing porn and lived a private life... too bad... she's now in florida working as an astrologer and counselor at a drug rehabilitation center. she is 67 yrs. old.
OMG!!!! THIS IS WHERE THE SONG "STEAL MY SUNSHINE" GOT IT'S TRACK!!

Im straight and Im white. Its just that Im into music history. Cheers man, dont be so mad at the world!
MulletKid 7 months ago
@The096757 -- "the only black artists who were good had whites behind them"-- Parliament-Funkadelic, Earth Wind & Fire, Mandrill, Ohio Players, Billy Preston, Kool and the Gang, Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, and the Isley Brothers are examples of SOME great artists of that era whose work was controlled by black musicians and producers. Distribution, engineering and backup musicians might be another subject but I'm talking about people who had the creative control.

@mythillogic KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND COULDNT ACTUALLY SING THAT HAD BLACK PEOPLE PLAYING INSTRAMENTS AND SINGING KC JUST LIP SANG!
jman4208 2 months ago
@MulletKid
when disco died it was full of black artists like funkadelic ( which were soul/funk acts riding the disco bandwagon) and most white people hated bands like funkadelic and artist like andrea true moved onto new wave. andrea had an album called War Machine relased in 1980s that to this day i still want to buy on cd. you are reallly fabricating some stupid scat. are you really that stupid or just trying to argue? i lived through it and know what was going on back then.
The096757 5 months ago
@The096757 Thug urban music is as gay as it gets. There's nothing your average black gang-banger loves more in the chokey than to get it on with his cellmates. Latent homosexuality is a big part of the hip hop culture.

Why the hell is it that everyone thinks just because you listen to disco ,youre gay???? funny cuz i been listenin to it since i was a teen in the 70s and not once,i repeat,NOT ONCE,did i ever feel like a fruit.
77pintoboy 1 year ago
@77pintoboy Back in the 70's nobody ever thought disco was gay. If anything it was hyper-hetero. Where the gay thing comes in, I have no idea.

Wow!! what a trip down memory lane, with the old pictures of L.A.

But always been curious if she went back to doing x-rated movies. always loved this song...true 70s pop/disco
djlorenzohouston 1 year ago
andrea true failed to go back doing porn after her third and last album flopped in 1980 because she had difficulty finding one because of her age at 37 yrs. old. after that she permanently retired from singing and also doing porn and lived a private life... too bad... she's now in florida working as an astrologer and counselor at a drug rehabilitation center. she is 67 yrs. old.
