To say the 'British betrayed Poland' (as many people do, admittedly) just does not make sense. If Britain had not declared war in September 1939, what would have happened to Poland and the Polish people? They would have been totally annihilated.

Whilst Britain was unable to do anything offensive militarily in 1939-40 due to lack of preparation, it was that wart declaration and britain's refusal to make peace with Hitler that ultimately enabled Poland to survive and exist today.

why defend a far away country? GB and France were not prepared for war. mobilisation would take weeks...foolish Poles expected from GR n FR more than they could have receive, besides neither really cared for Poland, it was just the casus belli those warmongerers needed to attack Nazi Germany.

"foolish" Poles thought that GB and FR will realise our agreement which standed for declareing war in two days after invasion and to start full offensive 15days after. Somehow they didn`t attacked (except couple Km near Saarbrucken), your theory is incorrect, only country which really wanted to fight was nazi Germany.
