Having troubling picking up the second harmonization. I can tell that it's over G C Bm, but what part of the triad is it? When you move up over the 12th fret, looks like the open position, but I can't seem to quite get the notes.
ok...Your chords are right. The 2nd part of the solo I'm playing the G in the open "A shape." I'm playing the C in the "D shape." I'm playing the Bm in a "D minor" shape. I hope this helps.
You guys are solid. I'm an avid guitarist myself, as well as a dead/phish fan, and I respect the fact that you fellas 'go for it' as musicians. There's nothing more disconcerting than a musician that's too nervous to put there balls on the line. That said, from an aesthetic point-of-view, I would suggest wearing longer shorts or pants. The dude on the right is just one over-zealous strum away from testicular exposure. U can't expose your genitalia unless you're a big rock star.
That's hilarious!!! Hugh (big rock star on right with "near-testicular exposure") and I have joked about that before. We've both experienced "near misses." In any event, should a testi ever pop out, we have the technology available to pixilate that sucker to keep the video suitable for our underage viewers. If you're ever in Tucson, give us a call...We'll jam!
Hey...I really enjoyed this and the others I listened to. Do you guys tour? If so, do you ever come to Boston? Also, yes, Fast Enough for You would be a cool one to hear.
We have played just out here in the southwest so far - AZ. CAL and NEV. Hopefully Colorado soon. We'd love to come east sometime!! Thanks for the support!! We'll put Fast Enough for You back on the radar screen. It's been a few years since we've played it. We should have a few new videos up in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!!
U guys rock and have inspired me to get my own duo goin on when i get my D-10 with my tax return. this song sounds really good when u start with the C shape startin on the 8th fret and then down to b7, the open strings resonate. I use that way cus I'm only one guitar, again u guys vocal harmonys kick ass
finding you guys has has almost been therepeutic since i've really been missing phish here lately. thank you for all the amazing tunes. and hearing a performance of roggae from you would make my year. peace and keep up the amazing work!
We were just messing around a few days back, playing for the fun of it and not really working on anything, and slid into parts of Frakie Sez and Roggae. Roggae is awesome and I could see us doing it sometime. Thanks for the good ideas!!
it took me til the second time listenin to you guys play this to feel the NEED to say nicely done...that was a nice if i could..thoroughly enjoyed THANK YOU
I am sure I will. That, along w Lizards, Dirt, Waste, Velvet Sea and Friday are some of my all-time favorite ballad solos. Cause, as Trey has said, they are not really a "solos" kind of band, w some obvious exceptions. Bass solo on Free, etc.
Where do you guys reside? I would love to meet you or hear you play.
Thanks for Horn soon and keep on playing great songs, not only from Phish but the Dead and the Beatles!
Lizards tops my list, too. We are in Tucson, Arizona and we'd love to meet you, as well. FYI, Horn is now up. Baring a few minor fuck-up's on my part, it's pretty good!
Wow, Thanks so much for your kind words about Handmade Groove. WOW! We do appreciate the support very much. I
f you have not already seen / heard them, Horn and Dirt are already posted. Click on the "sneakypower" link and that will take you to all of them as well as some really excellent solo efforts by Dave.
You guys rock! Better voices than Trey, and w no ego ie the whole no pictures of Phish in Europe w heads (bittersweet motel film). That is totally a-hole. I would see you guys for sure. You are the DeathStar equivalent for Phish. All you need is a bass player w mad skills and a drummer. Keyboard players are easy to find.
I would love to hear Lizards solo, horn solo, sloth, or friday. Keep doing what you are doing. You are beyond fans or a cover band. You are great musicians!
haha THAT IS STRAIGHT HILARIOUS...IF I MET PHISH AND THEY DID THAT ON MY PICTURE I WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED LAUGHING...trey n the rest are sum clowns..how would you have survived 20 years of touring without having some fun
that's true. tuche'. it's funny too. I guess we can all be asses sometimes to ammuse ourselves. And the person would still know it was themselves in the picture, cause of clothes or obvious identifiers, and so would probably actually value the photo in Europe more than a regular one anyways.
Believe me, my friend, that we have entertained that idea...and thanks for the confidence.. A Fluffhead is not likely anytime soon, but I encourage you to view the "Fluff's Travels" posted by zosoj14- He does a really good job!
ah man well i wish you the best of luck. yeah i know i have checked out that fluffs travel before. judging by the songs you have played im suprised i havent seen a chalkdust torture or a scarlet begonias. those would both be awesome on the acoustic
You guys are really good I learned harry hood from watching your video and a lot of other cool things you guys keep the legend going. How about a little fluff head-fluffs travel that would be sweet. Keep rocking!
I'm trying to get a few people i know to look at the videos. I'd love to see you guys doing a few of the smaller festivals next summer. I think the shows at Sunshine Daydream in Terra Alta, West Virginia would be a great fit for you guys--kind folks, intimate setting... anyway, keep it up.
That would be amazing and appreciated in ways I cannot describe. Thank you for the interest in what we're doing and the grassroots effort to take it somewhere!
Your voices work together so great. Let me know ahead of time when you're coming to Boulder,CO and I will put up posters, hand out flyers and whatever else you need. Ill even do the poster for you! ha thanks fellas

is the solo just different inversions of the G C Bm chord progression
prjctcivilian 2 years ago
That's all it is...arpeggios of varying inversions that outline the progression (:G C G C Bm C D:)

Thank you. The opening figure is essentially the C shape moved up two frets. The chords are G B7 C G G F C D
The chorus is G C G C Bm C and then that opening figure.
