The only rpg I've actually beaten all the through on Playstation is Lunar Silvar Star Story. I've played all the Final Fantasys but III and they are all amazing.
But my favorite rpgs that I have beaten are FF X/XII/XIII, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of the Abyss/Legendia, and Lunar. They are more modern but are still amazing =D

While Chrono Trigger was a great game, I was underwhelmed with Chrono Cross...
Personally, I thought FFIX was better that FFVIII
And, Chrono Trigger was released on the PS1 as part of a combo pack Final Fantasy Chronicals with FFIV. I know technically it's an SNES title, but it was released on the PS1, so it should have been #1
Speaking of which, that makes FFs IV and VI valid too.
Great list until FFVII was #1. I was hyped up through the first 14 and found myself praying you wouldn't resort to fanboy-dom but alas. I'd say it's tied for the 4th best Final Fantasy, IV first, VI second, Tactics third, and VII and IX tied for 4th.
@ADub0224 "Fanboy-dom" ? :sigh: I think these days 'fanboy' term is used only for fans of FF VII. There is only one word that should be used and that one is simply 'fan'. Why can't one love this game? It's a classic, it didn't age that well (graphicaly) and kids today will probably not love it at all + they keep ruining the game with sequels and prequels. It's not really mainstream to love this game anymore.
We can discuss for a lot of time about positions in this standing, but one thing is sure: PS1 and 2 were great about JRPGs, I personally miss this genre on all new generation's consoles...
By the way, a special mention for a game out of this list: Brave Fencer Musashi. Try it!

I know this is an old video, but I think you missed Koudelka(I hope I spelled that right). It's a prequel to the Shadow Hearts series, and if I remember right, it's much darker than Shadow Hearts.

I was happy to see Star Ocean on there. I mean it DOES go without saying that it was one of the best rpgs for the PS1. Good gameplay and story. Dialogue wasn't typical crap either. Didn't play Suikoden but I'm gonna give it a shot. Friend of mine showed me one of the final bosses and it didn't impress me. Not sure which but a giant tree? Meh.
I humbly disagree sir, but I respect your opinion. I got ya, u hadn't played Suikoden yet (I dunno WHY but), so I can forgive that notion, but no Threads of Fate? LoD is debatable so I can see why you put it at nine, although it is my fav game, the dialogue does make me cringe from time to time hehe XD. im sorry you had a good list but final fantasy is to used up truthfully the only ones i can definatly agree with for playstation 1 would be star ocean and legend of the dragoon i mean face it star ocean didnt have over ten titles in one consoles life(refering to final fantasy) and legend of the dragoon had four disks of gameplay which unless you only did story one disk could last as long as two final fantasy games and just my oppinion i would have put legacy of cain in there.
FFVII is better than FFVIII, i love FFVIII but once the plot twist happens it just gets so shitty, but just saying i am in disbelief that FF IX wasnt on this, ateast over VIII... IX is the best final fantasy hands down. So expansionary and the storyline is unbelievable in depth. Such a philosophical game, the hours of sidequests, and everything honestly puts this game as one of the best RPGs ever.
@slitheryjuggler94 Yes and no, it is played in RE in the pieano to get an emblem or a key (I don't remember well), the music used in RE were the original version, this is a remix of Bethoven Moonlight Sonata (I don't remember which sympnohy nor which number), but you will find videos if you look for moonlight sonata, and some more vids if you add the "remix" word before or afterwards.
For the most part, I thought the list was pretty good. I've personally played FFVII, Chrono Cross, FF Tactics, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve, Star Ocean: Second Story and FFVIII. I thought the games you had in there were pretty accurate but the order was a little meh. Hard for me to judge though since I didn't play half those games.
@BuffaloaferN7 Final Fantasy VII was WAY better than FFVIII and that's not me being a FFVII bandwagoner or anything. The story in VIII was pretty good until that twist at the end after the final battle. That just made it awful. The characters in FFVII were WAY better than VIII (idk what you're thinking there) the gameplay was better in VII...the only thing VIII really has going for it is the graphics were better but considering that it was a newer game, I hope the graphics were better.
@Toucanbird Now that I think about it I did enjoy VII more though, but I still think until Crisis Core came out I hated almost every character. It made Cloud more likable and It made Sephiroth more interesting.
@BuffaloaferN7 I haven't played Crisis Core (yet, I own it, just haven't gotten around to playing it yet) so I couldn't tell you about the characters in CC. I thought the characters in the original FFVII were great. I mean, not the greatest lead characters but the support characters were interesting as hell. Barrett, Yuffie, Vincent, Cid, Red. I really enjoyed every minute of FFVII. FFVIII on the other hand had a lot of good moments but there were a lot of BAD detractors in that game, like Draw.
@Toucanbird Barrett wasn't too bad, Vincent is a little cliched, Cid and Red were my favorites but I just didn't like Yuffie. DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON CAIT SITH.

@disso1911 Suikoden was alright, there were better titles; Breath of Fire III I didn't even really like that much and I agree with you about Beyond the beyond, that was a great game. I am still trying to find a copy to download... :/

I was happy to see Star Ocean on there. I mean it DOES go without saying that it was one of the best rpgs for the PS1. Good gameplay and story. Dialogue wasn't typical crap either. Didn't play Suikoden but I'm gonna give it a shot. Friend of mine showed me one of the final bosses and it didn't impress me. Not sure which but a giant tree? Meh.

I humbly disagree sir, but I respect your opinion. I got ya, u hadn't played Suikoden yet (I dunno WHY but), so I can forgive that notion, but no Threads of Fate? LoD is debatable so I can see why you put it at nine, although it is my fav game, the dialogue does make me cringe from time to time hehe XD. I think VIII OUTCLASSED VII by a mile unless you wanted an emo main character and villain, sry. I was hoping to see a lil Legend of Legaia/Mana action maybe? Still not bad, not great..but not bad

I am a hardcore rpg player and i know the difference between a good rpg and a bad rpg.
It sucks p4 isnt on the list but its most likely because this video was made prior to its release or the ability for the author to have played it

sorry just realized i kinda screwed up there the game i said in my opinion was spelt wrong the title was actually legacy of kain(not cain) or if youve never heard of it a few fan made games have been produced under the name blood omen,or the more popular title soul reaver which came out with a second title also l.o.k was actually one of eidos's first titles to come out so if your a fan of them you might know what game im talking about.

im sorry you had a good list but final fantasy is to used up truthfully the only ones i can definatly agree with for playstation 1 would be star ocean and legend of the dragoon i mean face it star ocean didnt have over ten titles in one consoles life(refering to final fantasy) and legend of the dragoon had four disks of gameplay which unless you only did story one disk could last as long as two final fantasy games and just my oppinion i would have put legacy of cain in there.

FFVII is better than FFVIII, i love FFVIII but once the plot twist happens it just gets so shitty, but just saying i am in disbelief that FF IX wasnt on this, ateast over VIII... IX is the best final fantasy hands down. So expansionary and the storyline is unbelievable in depth. Such a philosophical game, the hours of sidequests, and everything honestly puts this game as one of the best RPGs ever.

@slitheryjuggler94 Yes and no, it is played in RE in the pieano to get an emblem or a key (I don't remember well), the music used in RE were the original version, this is a remix of Bethoven Moonlight Sonata (I don't remember which sympnohy nor which number), but you will find videos if you look for moonlight sonata, and some more vids if you add the "remix" word before or afterwards.

For the most part, I thought the list was pretty good. I've personally played FFVII, Chrono Cross, FF Tactics, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve, Star Ocean: Second Story and FFVIII. I thought the games you had in there were pretty accurate but the order was a little meh. Hard for me to judge though since I didn't play half those games.

FFVIII should have been better than VII. The story in VII was okay,the combat and music were great, but the characters were atrociously bad.

@BuffaloaferN7 Final Fantasy VII was WAY better than FFVIII and that's not me being a FFVII bandwagoner or anything. The story in VIII was pretty good until that twist at the end after the final battle. That just made it awful. The characters in FFVII were WAY better than VIII (idk what you're thinking there) the gameplay was better in VII...the only thing VIII really has going for it is the graphics were better but considering that it was a newer game, I hope the graphics were better.

@Toucanbird Yeah the plot twist sucked in VIII, and the combat was better in VII. the characters in VII were still awful.
Cloud- Cliched, changes from cold to compassionate
Tifa- She was alright but she was a dumbass and just sat there when cloud wasn't remembering things right and didn't tell him until he was in a coma
Barret- Had the brilliant Idea of blowin up a reactor and killing innocent people to save the planet
The rest weren't that bad except for Cait Sith and Yuffie obviously.

@Toucanbird Now that I think about it I did enjoy VII more though, but I still think until Crisis Core came out I hated almost every character. It made Cloud more likable and It made Sephiroth more interesting.

@BuffaloaferN7 I haven't played Crisis Core (yet, I own it, just haven't gotten around to playing it yet) so I couldn't tell you about the characters in CC. I thought the characters in the original FFVII were great. I mean, not the greatest lead characters but the support characters were interesting as hell. Barrett, Yuffie, Vincent, Cid, Red. I really enjoyed every minute of FFVII. FFVIII on the other hand had a lot of good moments but there were a lot of BAD detractors in that game, like Draw.
