Shes Asian so I'm not impressed. Put away the child whip and let her go outside for once in her life. Maybe she won't be traumatized and long for a childhood when shes older. God bless her soul.
You know there's a reason why there are no decent pre-teen pianists. Playing something like Arabesque isn't just about having fast fingers. She obviously doesn't understand the piece. No amount of finesse can fix that.
Sorry, but you need to switch to a better teacher. Played poorly, though I hate to say it to a young talented kid. As an example, a 9 yr. old girl xuanchau98 played this piece much better:
@ccoldn Excuse me, but I'm 16 and I may be playing this piece, compared to children much younger than me. Expectations for children are WAY too high these days. I hate the stress I see when things like this are said to younger students. Maybe you should congratulate this young girl for performing a piece like this at 11. When I was 11, I was not this advanced.
heya, im just learning this song... and Im sixteen... and its super hard and im really impressed!!! Wonderful job and i hate it when people say keep up the good work because everybody says that so ill just say your a beast
actually, now i think of it, its amazing that people so young can play like that
i started when i was 8, which is pretty late compared to other people, but even then it took till i was 15 before i actually started caring about the music itself, so for you to feel it now, which i think you do is amaaazing XD
This is playes well, but you really have to spill out your heart. If i'm not in tears by the end of the piece, then it is played (note-wise)well, but the emotion is needed. The emotion is what makes music, not the notes!
I found that judgment can only be accurate if you played a piece yourself and compared with multiple versions, then you'd find few best interpreted ones. You must be familiar with a piece of music first.
yep, and you'll agree that it is played well, but until the emotion is used, the piece is very dry. (and yes, I've played piano for nine years and memorized this piece: it's a part of my repetoire)
One more thing that I want to mention. I assume that your teacher helped you with the interpretation of this piece...I suggest you may want to find a more knowledgeable teacher. Don't waste your time with your current teacher. It is for your own goodness.
some of you people really need to learn how to listen to music and find the feel and different composers do have different feelings for things and there are certain unwritten rules that one must follow to have the piece sound good i agree with PianoRon
I agree with the other suggestions, but I just wanted to point out that the accoustics in each room is different which is probably part of the case here. I know when I play in my house it's much different from when I play at my teacher's house.
HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE ONLY GIVE 3 STAR??5 STAR PERFORMANCE AMAZING!!!!i am learnin dis piece but thanks for uploadin this cos it helps when its played a bit slower so i can get to grasp with all the notes

more pedaaall i think
debussy was impressionist, so its all sposed to be very fluid and big waves of colour- pedal would help achieve this
but youre technically brilliant :D

needs more pedal

My favorite interpretation by far on Youtube.
However, I believe there is a bit too much excess body movement.

i agree, i hate it when people go over the top with their body movements. I prefer it to be more composed.

There are several points that you may want to consider:
1. your tempo varies too much.
2. your touch is too heavy, should be light.
3. this is Debussy not Beethoven, therefore, the dynamic change should not be bombastic.
4. It is very important that when you play Debussy to stick to the dynamic sign written by him to produce a very serene effect.
5. At the beginning of the piece, you should play the p and pp clearly. It is very hard to play p and pp correctly. Hope this helps.
