that is a clinton engine no doubts about it! runs ok at least. it might be a touch lean that would cause it to surge like that. from what i have found on engines with this type carb, (my clinton 3hp model 3100 has the same style carb) those carbs were often made by walbro for clinton so you should be able to get the parts to rebuild it.
@1944johndeerel yup, its definitely a clinton, looks almost identical to my red one except this one is in much better condition. Unfortunately someone ruined the jet trying to get it out so it definitely needs a rebuild
gee, runs pretty nice (aside from the surging) dose not look like it burns any oil. If that gauge says 600psi, then it would probably be a pressure washer type pump.
@IHcubcadet I kinda figured it was a pressure washer pump, but I wasn't sure because it has some strange looking connectors on it. It does run pretty nice other than the surging, I get a puff of smoke when it surges, but that doesn't seem like oil, seems more like unburnt fuel type of smoke
@MRSketch09 the gaskets I usually make, you can buy rolls of gasket material and just trace and cut out gaskets for it. carb parts are hard to find for some of these, usually ebay is a good place to look for things like that if in a case like this, the company no longer exists, if the company is still around you can usually still find parts fairly easily
@MRSketch09 I'm not too sure what it was used to pump. Alot of what I get is fairly cheap or free, I can make money off of it because I trashpick alot of lawnmowers and things, fix them and re-sell them. I've been into it since I was a kid, I got my first engine, which was an old 2-stroke power products engine and I got my simplicity 725 when I was about 5, I was always fascinated by engines
looks like a poop sucker...the kind on septic tank cleaner trucks. :)

Is that a Water pump for a well or something?
So how do you manage to find the time/money to do this hobby?
Also, how did you get into it? I mean did you read some books or watch some videos and then jump into it?
