it had been ages since i last listened to this song and it took me back to days when i felt life pulsing through my soul. idk it made me sad because that feeling is gone. too much noise now, too much agitation. the opposite of how this song and this band in general feels.
@afdba I never wanted it to ever end. It will never end for me. It was total revolution, but we lacked the knowledge at the time, not like now though. Now we can make it even better, and even more artistic, but then it's hard to get a record deal like that, notice how this music and these movies aren't very popular because most people are ignorant and this system rewards ignorance and complacency. They want us always to remember that resistance is futile, but we know it is also necessary.
@XenBuddhist me neither, i still miss it. i think its quite sad if every artist whould produce music to get a record deal. Still i love how much popularity the whole new queer cinema got around the world. The past is the past. Ill still remember all the great times i had. 2011 as an adult is way too much for me... somehow i still agree with you alot.
@Passi0nata no, these were on the EP's. by no means was blue day they 4th cd. it was a japan only release which was just tracks from the EP's. pygmalion was their supposed 3rd cd. they never even got close to a 4th cd.
I still find myself listening to this song from time to time and it always brings me back to the first time I ever heard it. I was in the back seat of my friend's car at 2 in the morning, staring out the window, the passenger window cracked slightly letting the sprinkling rain kiss my face. All the lights passing by, the city scape, it was all so surreal.
they play this song on some movie from the 90s i can't remember the name of it this song rocks my 4 year old daughter loves this song and asks for it by name
i liked how greg araki used this song for the opening to "nowhere" which is named after the album by ride. heck, greg uses just about every popular shoegaze band during it's heyday in his 90's movies. nowhere had the best collection of music imo.
@eatdogs Hell yeah, totally agree! I love Gregg Araki's work, it's like he knows me, or rather knows what I love to see and hear and think and feel in a film. The Doom Generation had incredible music as well. Live for this sh*t!
@eatdogs completely agree...slowdive, deftones, filter and the verve. only soundtrack I can think of that is comparable from the 90s is maybe the crow??
in the UK this was their first EP, the second side to Slowdive EP. It then appeared on a US comp CD of their early EP's and that was Blue Day. It never appeared on any studio album at all. Like I say it was their first real release
@nilperos This track is from the rare Slowdive album called 'Blue Day.' It came out the same time as 'Souvlaki.' I actually got the 'Bloue Day' as a limited bonus for purchasing 'Souvlaki.' Amazing. :-)
0:16 loneliest chord. i love it.

I love how the vocals are sort of... Warping? Can you call it that?
Either way, the second time they sing "Silence grows, my feelings flow..." it sounds like "I think of you when I fall asleep..." So ghostly.

@rebelandpunk08 I could picture that perfectly in my mind from your comment, that would be so great to do that, especially to this song.

Great song. Easy to tell Mogwai stole this in their 'New Paths to Helicon Pt. ' which is great also.

it was also included on Blue Day, which was a compilation album of the first 3 singles (avalyn I being one of them) and the holding our breath ep.
nobody who likes slowdive is a fool anyway, even if they were wrong. though they weren't.
