  • Well..?? When are we going to see this on trailers on the tv, ad nauseum? I would certainly go watch it.

  • I love these guys!!

  • "Roll up" yer sleeves fellows! We need this as soon as possible. Romney Richpigge is coming!

  • Yeah... I'll wait for a very long time. I know that waiting to see Fat Fredies Cat will be worth the exercise in patients... We have time to "Burn"... Big 420 thanks from the ladies at SeedMineTv

  • I'm praying this eventually gets made!

  • Just got the full collection of the FFFB's comics in one book. It is the bible of these great guys! Funnier than hell!!!

  • Awesome concept, I just wonder if the new generation could relate.

  • @tikiduck My kids love them, 13 and 15, and especially FF's cat!

  • The Freak bros. rule...Fat Freddy for President, Phineas for Vice Pres..Freewheelin Franklin for Secretary of State...Fat Freddie's Cat can be mascot of USA..

  • my favorite comics of all time. the movie, the movie!!!

  • I sooo want this made, i remember reading these when I was 9-10 in the late 70 , in me in me uncles house so funny

  • Aww,I was looking forward to so much.Wish I could help in some way.

  • I agree its sad i was looking fwd to this

  • Someone should fund this film. It is a vital representation of youth for many of us aging freaks. I wish I could remember those days more clearly but I was stoned and I missed it.

  • im afraid to say that this movie has gone out the window beccuase of money issue's its so unfortunate as this would of been suchan awsome movie i know this becuase im the directors daughter its such a shame.

  • @BorthwickBo

    BUMMER! D :

  • @BorthwickBo DAMNNATION!!! I really wanted this film to work out :-(

  • I have the first comic book and 5th, how much would those be worth these days :P

  • thumbs up if you think seth rogan would make a narley fat freddy xD

  • How about those two Actors from that Pineapple Express they look like Fat Freddy and Freewheeling Frank

  • Any update on the film?

  • OK, 3 comments -

Phineas - did ya get a nose job already? so short it is!

Fat Freddy reminds me so much of my dad it's just excruciating!

And the Cat - exactly as I ever imagined him. Beautiful!

Hey, nice effect at 2'27'' btw. very cool :)

  • It would have been better with some dialogue

  • that was interesting ;)

  • if you love the furry freaks check out the last toke

  • Looks great! Can't wait! (goes to dig out old FFFB comics from storage)

  • I think the characters are an excellent visual depiction of the comic strip however the trick is of course to come up with a worthy enough script and yes the director to pull it off any ideas??

  • Only way this Movie will ever get made is if Gilbert gets poor !

Money hungry ,down & out,broke...too late and he knows it!!

In the 80's this-pipe dream of a MOVIE- might have been a real money maker.

Too many of the fans from the 60's 70's early no longer around, loved the comic book

PROVE me wrong I'll spend the money for a ticket.

  • I'll be first in line to see it, but I won't be takin' the kids!

  • Wonderful. but considering that this IS the FFFBs, surely the animation standards are far too high.

Yes, I did see the cockroach army chasing Fat Freddy's Cat around. Obviously a plot element (as it should be.

  • it said 2011 on imdb ,is this true please?

  • @cptskellern 2011 for Germany, 2012 for USA

    imdb com title tt0944952 releaseinfo

  • Any news on when or if theis is ever coming out, or are you guys on a dope break?

  • it needs some more era-specific music, something that sounds West Coast late 60s-ish, that ukulele plinking makes it sound like an ad for a bank or an insurance comparison website.

  • My recommendations for voice cast: Adam Sandler as Phinneas, Seth Rogan as Fat Freddy and Woody Harrelson as Freewheelin' Franklin. Sadly, budget is apparently an issue in even finishing production, let alone paying SAG prevailing wages.

  • Has a nice warm, homey early '70's feel...like the white cop car goin by ....68 dodge?? Dirty street scene looks real period too...keep that vibe, best of luck stop- motioning this flick

  • wow this looks amazing. is it being made in bristol? i'm studying animation in bristol!

  • this was posted 4 years ago......will this movie ever come out???

  • What's the intro song?

  • So,s ya can scratcha yer bolls?

  • Yea, howsa boutsa comic that just turns its own pages ?

  • When? Sweet jesus I'm tired of waiting. Most of the audience is dying off we can't wait forever guys.

  • I thought you were looking for actors, and I discover that our heroes agreed to star in their own movie! I don't wanna know how you paid them, and I guess I know how you paid the cat! Rumors said that the cat asked for more money than the three others. Is it true?

  • i hope this movie gets made! but i think that it looked too ´´clean´´ ...more details to make it look like the comics.

  • sweet baby jeebus, this is great news.

  • Is this movie still in development?

Its a long time with no news.

I worry that funding has dried up and it'll be the best movie that never happened :(

  • LOVE "That Shit Kicking Music"

  • They been talking about this forever and made this little short.. but did the film get made or not? I'de like to buy or rent it.

  • got to make this happen, love the furrys, had freewheeelin franklin painted on my bikes petrol tank superb!

  • if every guy who watched this had spend a dollar on the grassroots site, this film would have been out for a long time. so stop begging and get up your lazy asses!

  • This movie is a must make! Put MC5 on the soundtrack and show the Freak Brothers overdosing on STP or Peace Pills or something.

  • Make it !

  • VERY WELL DONE! I'm in my early fifties, and had all the FFFBs comics in high school. I laughed out loud, and would pay money to see this

  • Who directed this movie? It was so cool! Does anyone know? My co-workers and I have a bet about who the Director was. I want to watch it again on 9 7 M o V i e s. Co M, but if anyone knows, tell me.

  • @Do0M1ng : it is still in the hard development stage. We're all drooling to watch it when hopefully it will complete.

  • Woah!!!

    Deeply cool awesomness. B¬]

    5/5

  • I liked the comics for the adventures they had, not for the casual and stupid drug use. The problem with making this today is that stoner humor is a hard sell these days and recent films which tried to portray drug use as "funny" have flopped and received harsh critical notice. Movie studios are skittish in the best of times, and these aren't the best of times for counter-culture movies.

  • I think they should forget making an animated feature and do it live action. I already have a PERFECT Fat Freddy in mind. . . . .Seth Rogan. . . .and I'm SURE he would say yes if he was asked! I'm not too sure about the other two though?

  • @lennoxmate woody harrelson as freewehlin franklin'..? :)

  • @SmeagolTheGreat: Woody Harrelson? Not a bad idea mate . . . . and I thinnk he would agree to it to!

  • bruce bickford is still interested in helping out . I'll pass on any messages to him. (^> prosser

  • Oh please make a full length movie of the Freaks, I have loads of there books and love 'em to bits. I love Fat Freddy's Cat's nose!

  • Please say this got made into a film

  • FREAK MONEY BOMB DOT C O M

    go there now

this movie needs you and it needs you RIGHT NOW

  • congrats, tim lincecum on another cy young!

  • Jeez, how we need this movie! Stop Motion is a genuine Art form, & Ray Harryhausen is its very own Da Vinci.

  • wasnt this movie suposed to come out this year? how's it going?

  • Trippy dudes! I love it!

  • I guess this never came out? I would LOVE to see if if and when it does.

  • STOP MOTION! thats amazing. i ran into this accidentally....didnt even know a project was going on! when i heard the "3-d" part...something inside of me sunk...all i could see in my mind were these over-shiny, rubbery CG models....ARGH. but then my eyes widened at the sight of actual sets and models.

spark it up to whoever made the call to use stop motion! </ / / / / /#~~~

  • did they make this?

i have one camic of there. ideots abrod and would ove to find the rest of the series.

  • I want to work on this set!!

  • I did, it was hilarious. Slow job mind, but brilliant.

  • Brilliant ... love it :-)

I grew up reading the Freak Brothers comics, and I love them dearly.

  • i love the freak brothers, i have all the comics!

    :)

cant wate to see this stopmotion, version of, grass roots!

    :)

  • this is a good idea...although I think it would look better done in Maya or 3dMAX....Can I help?

    420

  • Anybody who would choose computer animation over claymation is a sick man.

  • Oh God, nooooo.... what have you done with the Freak Brothers ????? - terrible, no thanks !

  • they better not fuk up the voices....

  • If any of you saw "the secret adventures of tom thumb" I think the guy under the street is tom thumbs dad!

  • correct

  • one and the same, Mr Nick Upton. He was also a rigger on the set of this. Made by the same company.

  • I can't wait! Lemme go through your pockets, man.

  • OH YEAH And it was live action too

  • Comment removed

  • Check Something Weird Video for the validity of my comment if you disbelieve me

In the early seventies there was an X Rated movie of the FFFB called Up in Flames.

You can find it on Something Weird Video as part of a double Feature

I asure you this is NOT a joke!!

  • They're looking for moneys.

I spoke today with Gilbert and he confirmed that the project is not dead :)

  • no money=dead movie

  • Is this still getting made?

  • What's up with the guy under the street at 2:28?

  • mmm. Does the work continue at the movie? Since decades there are no news.

  • I love !

  • is gonna be a must see

  • You mean all we can agree on is this sack of SOYBEANS???

  • grandiosi....

  • I love it!!!

  • This is what we want to see.

Well done, the boys from Bristol.

  • this looks awful. I love that series ,

  • I used to read the FFFB's in an underground newspaper called the Dallas Notes in the early 70's.....hillareous.

  • pssst a heepie u wanna buy sum cundoms

  • Fert Foot!

  • Oh man, my roommate in Dallas got me hooked on this comic almost 2 decades ago, fun times reading that comic. I can't wait to see the movie!!!

  • my fav was the "IDIOTS ABROAD" trilogy. If you could remake that it would be Most Awesome!!

  • I liked the Mexican Odyssey...bring on Don Longjuan!

  • Producing a key, he enters...........!

  • Hope there's a battle with Norbert the narc in the plot!

  • i drew a giant picture of the furry boys with a permanent marker...i'm rather proud of it...my dad has a tattoo of thum..lol

  • You make it! I'll pay to see it.

What a great idea. Shit, every baby boomer 60's hippie will surly check it out.

I stilll have some of the original R. Crumb and Shelton comics....relics of a simpler time.

My favorite Freak Bros. comic is "Down on the Farm".

btw; Will Fat Freddie's cat will still have his FabulousFurryBalls?...Hee! Hee!

  • Hee...Hee...Haw...Haw

    Get er dun, Reb..

  • maybee they got stoned and forgot all about it !

  • Yeah, I remember the general of the Cockroach Army (using all his arms to salute.) 'Sir, we just lost 5,000 troops to a can of Raid! ' His reply: "Not to worry, corporal, there's plenty more where they came from..." Gary Busey as the voice of Phineas.

  • wheres norbert the nark

  • finding his way from the Storyboard to the Set.

  • Yeah! And Tricky Prickears, the deaf and blind cop!

  • If I could just rmember where I put all those comics..Oh well...FTTT FTTTT. I'll look later...

  • C'mon we're in 2009 now, Release it!

Put it out on DVD get it out somehow please!

  • OMG! I haven't seen the FFFBros for a loooong time! Very cool!

  • Fat Freddy's Cat V.S. The Cockroack Army....

  • ...or Freddy's cat versus Freddy. I bet you all can see the resemblance to a mouse :)

  • will there be a part in it for Wonder Warthog?

  • we're working on it. His Agent is pretty tough though.

  • anybody remember the issue where they put remote control in the car and drove it around watching it through binoculars sh*t that was

    funny also fat freddys diet

  • looks fantastic! can't wait, hope it's not too long.

  • 10/02/08 says the clapper. Kinda overshot the original date then...

  • puppets? not stale, ugly, overacted CGI? Looks good! How the hell did you get a budget for something not made by machines?

  • Not puppets. Claymation.

  • Looks nice. This reminds me of Wallace & Gromit. Wonder when this comes out...

  • The singer in the beginning sounds like tom waits

  • Looks interesting.....When does this come out?

  • In that photo Gilbert looks like a general from the American Civil War!

  • yea yea make damn movie ffs

  • as we all know, grass and no money will get you through times better than money and no grass.

    classic

  • "Keed Spills"

  • Spill Keeds

  • lol! Of course, my mistake. :)

  • the freaxs abroad-prescient, great comic art, the best i have ever read

  • Funny how the fart wafts through Fat Freddy's bell bottoms. Screw CGI - claymation rulez!!!

  • By the time this film comes out, 90% of the hippe generation will have passed on.Their dropping like flies as is.

  • Okay so there's Fat Freddie, Freewheelin' Franklin... and damn it, I can't remember the last brothers name. Anybody? Oh, and who remembers their most famous saying?

Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope.

  • I believe it was Phineas but thats the limit of my memory - if he had a surname I was too stoned to realise / care

  • The swarthy one was Phineas Phreak my friend.

  • Fat Freddy Freekowtski, Freewheelin' Franklin Freak, and Phineas T. Phreakears, iirc (and Fat Freddy Scat, of course).

  • This is just too much! Kids used to have Romper Room, Barney and Friends, etc. Kids today have Hanna Montana, and Disney. But I must have been one weird kid, cause this is what I grew up on. And man, the makers of this movie hit the nail on the friggin' head... they've captured them to a tee! Hey, anyone remember the cats full name?

It's F. Fredrick Skitty, IE Fat Freddies Kitty. Priceless!

  • When does the movie come out?

  • They were probably going to make the movie but spent the budget on grass instead which would be far more sensible....

  • Dope will get you through times of no budget better than a budget will get you through times of no dope.

  • LOL.I forgot about that line.Must be the dope I spent all my budget on

  • it's money not budget...

anyway, same thing I guess :p

  • It's called a pun, or play on words. I KNOW that the original is about money and dope. What I did was make what is called a JOKE.

  • Thank you Mister Gilbert Shelton !

    peace from France

  • not a big fan of the claymation, altho I am a big fan of the freaks...guess its an oxymoron for me.

  • Thanks so much for steering me here to the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Lesley! How did you know that I still have my ancient comic book collection?

  • who remembers don longjuan???

  • i do. lol

  • lol.

  • lol! what the... CAT!! xD

  • finish the freak'n flick and peddle it through the "tobacconists shops" duh...

  • That was dumb as shit!!! I hope they never make the movie in claymation!! Its a fuckin embarrasment to real fans!!!! They gotta do it straight animation!!

  • This looks GREAT but I see it's dated 2006.

So what happened to the film? I mean, you can't just stop after such a funny beginning, can you?

  • Yes, a movie will debase the franchise, and yes, anyone can see that coming from four decades away.

  • hey, weed will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through ... times ... of no ... uh ... what was I saying ...?

  • Skeed Pills!

    Er...

    Peed Skills?

    Keed Spills...?

    Never mind.

  • "Weed, women and... whatever."

  • Interesting to note that Dave Borthwick , one of the makers of this epic, used to run a lightshow in the early 70,s that often worked on gigs with Stackridge. Andy Davis , one of the main men in that band is co-writing the music for the movie. He is also currently in the studios recording a new album with the reformed Stackridge. Busy man !!!!

  • You hit the nail on the head, brother.

  • Luv the brothers! can't wait to get a "toke" of that "bush"

  • ...I remember reading , in the late 70's , that an animated cartoon version was a possibility. I guess it took this long to get the three of them off the couch! I can't wait to see the finished product. Send Fat Freddy around the corner to the video store , and tell him..."Fat Freddy...TRY not to get burned!".
