  • @orhugs it's a game on ps3 and XBOX 360 made by rockstar. The story of that game is all about a detective in 1947, you're solving crimes... Everything is classic! :D

  • My mom got in trouble once for playing this on the church organ - the organ was connected to the church bells, so the whole neighborhood was treated to Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop via the church bells until my grandmother got to the church to terminate Mom's concert!!

  • I am kind of surprised the stand up bass comes through so clear on such a primitive recording....listen to it......it drives right through to the forfront of the song

  • Advantage of a stand up bass, has a much more permeating sound.

  • It is cutting through really nicely. It seems like at times the bass line of the piano and the bass drum are helping to bring it out as well.

  • that is one big dvd player and disc :)

  • You should hear the Swedish version:

    watch?v=RAGg_U5LQps

  • Charles Mingus or Joe Comfort on bass?

  • Man, you can tell that's a 78! Look at that sucker spin...love it!

  • TheAnav , Excellent review !

  • Oh,forgot to say that the song has a pretty fucking cool atmosphere also!Ridiculously good music!Rock n roll, babyyyyy!

  • Holy shit,i know that Lionels music and talent and persona and energy are the bomb but this song killed me,what trumpet and clarinet solos,wOw!Im a lil high now and these solos took my off my feet!Heeeey-ba-ba-re-bop!!!

  • Was Lional on the clarinet?

  • Band leader at this point, originally was a drummer later played xylophone.

  • You mean the Vibraphone

  • "Was Lional on the clarinet?" Herbie Fields was. Only "white" guy in Hampton's band at the time. Lionel did play saxophone on stage sometimes with this band.

  • Labaron26, Still a legitimate term in my book.

  • We called them "jump" songs in my day.

  • Labaron26 , That makes you the grandfather of Hip Hop.

  • Man those old 78s sure did turn fast. When I was a kid, when my Dad wasn't looking, I would try to spin them backwards.

  • Lobojack, But, the purpose of these posts is to record the records.

  • Great track ! It's a pity the quality is bad. I have a better version (quality-wise) on tpae....without the scratch

  • Have you posted it?

  • Alas no, because I do not know how to post. It's as simple as that. Plus I don't know how to convert from cassette tape to disital on the Net. A pity, because I have a large vibyl collection !

  • puglet6, This one is getting around.
