  • How do you mess the msecs?

  • @aliosmangs see the description

  • hey how to fix the ps3 frame rate? when i play resident evil 5 and bad company 2 there's so much motion blur and input lag and delays. i have 46 inch sony bravia with hdmi cable i set it to 720p and tried messing around with tv settings still no luck. i did rbg to full and the white option thing in my ps3 settings. help please?

  • I am a casual gamer, I just picked up Battlefield 3 today and right away I noticed the issue and is driving me fucking nuts! For me unplayable. I am guessing it hasn't been resolved because all the newest updates are downloaded on my ps3.....??

  • BF3 SUCKS!

1.blue,filter,bloom,glare,blinding lights=headache 2.cant disable headbob and other constant screen shakes

    3.ugly guns,animations

4.nerfed bolt sniper, everything about sniping should be like in BC2

    5.cod style scope sway-hold breath

    6.small FOV of scope

7.OP spray guns that take zero skill to use,the game is infested with spray fags

    8.less destruction then bc2

9.whole screen zoom when you ads = eye damage and it looks bad

    10.dice / ea=fags

  • @TheSUBGAMER lets hope they dont screw up bfbc3

  • I think inertia plays a small part in this, a weightier feel, but there is still a gap between the time you move the stick and when the action is carried out. Any one know ANYTHING about the next patch, Any chance of it being before xmas???(i doubt it), (open to reply's)

  • Hope u guys realize that big ass tv's are not meant for gaming because of the tv's frame rate big ass tv's such as his 50inch are for watching HD-bluray movies or movies in general. Stay with in the tv gaming range of 19in-32inch HD tv either 720p or full 1080p that have highspeed HDMI inputs u will b fine but 4 bigger tv's video games are not the way to go that's mayb y Dice doesn't mention anything about a patch. But wat do I know I don't make tv's lol.

  • @PSP3000user but then why is it that other games dont have the problem? COD, Bad company 2 and other fps games work fine on my tv, even the xbox version of bf3 is fine on my tv, but bf3 for ps3 has the issue. It makes me saad.

  • how did you get precise reading of the controller lag

  • great vid. i think yours in the only video which shows this problem in detail. looks however that dice is not going to fix this, since they have said nothing, and when they do they try to explain it away as something wrong with the tv setup. its probably a problem too difficult to sort out. shame. (i think its something to do with v-sync) im getting the xbox version soon.

  • isnt it because of the load of the game/graphics,shit exploding and whatnot?. cod runs at 60 so i can see why there no iLag-since theres nothing thats overwhelming the Cpu/Gpu..But hell, what do i know

  • @BoomJay19 don't know, could be, I hope not since that would be hard to fix (lowering the game resolution on PS3, lowering the graphic quality or optimizing which is very hard to do).

  • @juanjux

It's not the FPS's fault, It worked perfectly in BETA.

  • @juanjux

It's not because of the FPS or graphics, because it worked perfectly in Beta.

  • @juanjux I noticed that whenlowering the resolution, the response time when selecting stuff on the main menu is faster. So maybe it doesnt have anything to do with high graphics quality?

  • @kitsune2222 yes, I've noticed that too

  • still not fucking fixed fuck dice

  • @yeathatguymatt lets call then fucking retards and then expect them to come up with a solution. Unrespectfull dick.

  • Good video, shows greatly what the problem really is. Good job.

  • can the problem be the CD?

like some cds were printed perfectly and others werent

since some people have no problems nd some people have lots

  • hey how do i lower the resolution on my samsung 46in led 3d tv to try solve this issue temporaroliy??

  • @yeathatguymatt

when u start your ps3, hold down the ps3 buttun untill second beep, that will reset ur video res

  • @yeathatguymatt go to your XMB settings, then display, select HDMI and deselect all the resolutions except 576p or 480p depending on your system (596p for PAL, 480p for NTSC).

  • its not tv's fault...its Dice's fault, they released an unfinished very bad optimized product full of bugs on the consoles...if they dont fix it im doomed to play it at 567p

  • Goddamn, I didn't realise it was that bad... :(

  • I'm true BF fanboy but I still can admit that there is A HUGE input lag and it's really gamebreaking, if I play on my old Samsung CRT 32" TV there's no lag at all, but on 720p SONY 40" Full HD TV it's unbearable.

  • @xCryonic

    Samsung CRT 32" TV = 576i

  • @xCryonic I suspected this ! it´s NOT BF3´s fault.

Your TVs are the culprit mates.

  • @bloomitsch

It IS BF3:s fault, I 'tweeted' about the problem to Alan "Demize99" Kertz and he said that they're already looking into the problem, everyone else has this problem too. so NO, its NOT MY TVs fault, its BF3's

  • @xCryonic can you provide a link to his tweet that they are looking into the problem?

  • @SimplexPL

I can't give it by comments because of YouTube is filtering urls, but I have PM'd you the link.

  • @bloomitsch no u retard bf3 isnt workin with alot of hdmi larger tvs..it worked fine on my 32 in but my 46in lagged to fuck on aiming, patch this shit or im getting mw3

  • This has been driving me nuts about the game... and aiding in plumping up my death's stats. Otherwise Im loving BF3!

  • ive been forced to play on a small tv in order to avoid having any considerable amount of input lag

  • very nice, I heard that an HDMI cable that's usually only required for 3D Blurays fixes this but I haven't been able to try it yet

  • @spatnaspolecnost that's interesting. Where have you read about it?

  • @juanjux A guy on a forum that I don't know said that his friends BF3 doesn't do it while it does on his PS3... apparently the only difference is the cable, but I don't know how trustworthy is this, but I can imagine it could be something related to it if changing resolution fixes this. Maybe there is some bug related to the video output that doesn't affect the newer version HDMI cable... But DICE said they are aware of this so I'm gonna try it only as a last resort if they fail to fix it.

  • @spatnaspolecnost nop, I bought a 1.4 HDMI cable (mine's was a no-brand one, unkown version) and the problem is still there.

  • That is one of the reasons why developers should focus on PC only when developing a shooter game. Consoles are for casual games and RPG's where fast reflexes and aiming isn't necessary.

  • @rdbwy go fuck yourself with your mouse

  • @juanjux Very mature /golfclap.

  • @juanjux lmao :D mad console kids <3

  • @rdbwy oh they are necessary, but of course gamepad gives you a disadvantage slowing you down... I've played in games against some of the best players in the world and let me tell you... you need reflexes for that ;)

  • @rdbwy The PC community isn't big enough...there just aren't enough cheeto-munching virgins out there to generate the revenue necessary for DICE/EA to continue to support development of games like this. Sure it COULD be done (like BF2) but the motivation is not there when projected revenues are staring at them. Besides, it was built for cross-platform gaming from the start, not ported. So controls shouldn't be an obstacle anyway. It's one of the simpler mechanisms of the coding. Says I.

  • strange - I have PS3slim 160gb and i have ZERO input lag - i swear. And I see on your video you have an awful input lag, i hope they´ll get this fixed for you.

It definitely does not happen on all ps3 as I´m not affected surprisingly.

  • @bloomitsch yeah some people have it and some people don't. That's how it slipped past quality control I guess. It would be nice if you recorded some video showing your game response time!

  • @bloomitsch what kind of tv are you using?

  • @camius1 LG4500LW 42" 3d TV ... i can manually switch all hdmi ports to 0-Lag mode.... and the setting stays !

  • @bloomitsch it only on hi res bigger tvs my small tv worked mint now i upgraded to 46inch led 3d tv and its fucked

  • :) ..seems a bit strange you would get inconsistent results, though. Did you try it in single-player?

Another thing is that the game could be smoothing out the input along the way. If you are in motion already, and change the direction a small way, the response seems awfully accurate to me. But I do get the same as you when slamming the stick down.

Had the same thing in Killzone 2, by the way. >_< ...man I'm never going to get over that..

  • @kabalder the video was recorded at 60fps so the precision is 1000/60 = 16 miliseconds, thus part of the variability (but not all).

  • @juanjux ..weird. I mean, in Killzone 2 they really had a resting animation for the weapon. If you looked at the screen, the weapon would start moving, and then the crosshairs would follow. They also had the gun-fire animation look "real".. pull the trigger, gun would fire, bullet would hit, then the muzzle flare would burst through the flame-suppressor. That's... not how most games are made. But it wasn't "input lag". The game had scheduled input updates and point smoothing.

  • @kabalder there's some videos showing input lag on Killzone 2

i think it has to happen sadly because of the textures and the way that game looks. It is a great looking game but the PS3 can barely handle it

  • @pgbcca1 ..the videos were also proven to be fake. Not that this stopped Seb and GG from working their asses off trying to improve what they /thought/ trolls on the internet believed was the problem. And in the process ruined the game, of course.

  • @kabalder how did you come to the conclusion they were fake?

its similar videos of killzone 2 and moving controller to see it delay then show on screen

  • @kabalder i found 1 video saying killzone 2 input lag is a lie yet that video has 26 thumbs DOWN and 15 thumbs up and people commenting about how there's still lag

This reminds me of that one battlefield 3 video saying no input lag yet I can clearly see it

    so its not fake

  • @kabalder Go to 1:30 to see how awfully INaccurate the response is. Yeah, it's the same as killzone 2.. though I think that was intentional with KZ?

  • juanjuax, how are you measuring the lag in your video?

  • @kusk8all

    1. Open the original files recorded at 60fps on the Pitivi video editor (Linux). Any other editor giving the timing of the frames with milisecond precision can work too.

    2. Go to the frame where the finger has stopped pushing the analog stick. Note the time.

    3. Go to the first frame where the image starts moving. Note the time.

Substract the two times and you got the input lag.

Youtube is 30fps, but I can upload the source videos at 60fps to megaupload if someone is interested.

  • @juanjux Thx

  • @juanjux ohhh man i love you... i was looking for a good video editing programm for linux and i never heard about pitivi... its realy basic and simple, exact how i like it

thank you very very much... lets see if i can make a montage with that programm

  • EA, Dice boys, gotta fix this sh!t. 5 million users getting it rough. Rest is awesome :)

  • Dude, wtf is wrong with your thumbs!?

  • PS3 XMB> display settings> video settings> custom> tick 576k> finish

  • fix the delay

  • i have the same problem, first day i played online and i felt like i wasted my money on this game...and im a big battlefield fan..

  • I confirm I am seeing exactly the same difference in the 720 and 576 resolutions. 576 on bf3 is similar to 720 on bf2.

  • Ok.. So.. Can you explain what this means for us guys who don't understand this?

  • @wolf6106 the lower the number the better

high input lag means what you press takes longer to show on screen

theres a small delay to how fast a response is shown on the tv when you press a button or move the thumbsticks

  • thanks for uploading this.. I hope DICE engineers will watch this video..

  • @stepanek78 They know about it but dont want to admit its a problem. For me its a game breaking problem

  • Thank you for making this video. There are still people who think we are imagining things.

Playing in 576p really sucks. Can't see shit. :P

  • how do you get 576p btw? Is that over component cables?

I've only tried 480p over HDMI same results at 720p and I tried with composite cables (yellow, red, white) which looked horrid at 480i and same results as 720p

  • @Jangaboo Go to the PS3 settings, video output, manual settings and deselect all resolutions except 576p (which can't be deselected)

  • @juanjux i don't have 576p

    over HDMI its 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

    over composite its 480i

probably component (green, blue, red, red, white) you guys are using then or maybe thats a European standard output?

  • @Jangaboo I can choose 576p over HDMI.

  • @juanjux PAL regions only looks like i just checked

    Supported video modes (PAL region) *1 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 576p

    Supported video modes (NTSC region) *1 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 480p

  • @Jangaboo Yes, I'm on a PAL region.

  • @juanjux hopefully its a bug they can fix

strange that one resolution 576p has low input lag vs others

  • Thanks for posting this. I noticed the lag as well, and I came up with about the same estimate. ~100ms. will fix 2night. btw- if you are going to be doing some FPS, you need a new TV. Sure, you can live with the 80ms lag you have, but you will be much better without it. I have a large 50" Plasma with ~100ms lag built in. I never play FPS on it. my 20in 1080p computer monitor with hdmi is extremely fast, virtually no lag. So basically, what I'm saying is, it's not you, it's the equipment :)

  • @TheBaronVonMunch yeah, the TV probably adds a big part of those 80-100 msecs I can see on the other games, but I can live with it, the 200-250 msecs of BF3 are unbearable.

  • @juanjux LG TV"s are usually low input lag

ideal situation to test is LCD monitor or CRT tube tvs and make sure PS3 controller is plugged in

  • @TheBaronVonMunch its not the equipment i have the same problem..and only happens in bf3, bc2 its sharp as a razor

  • @SileDevil What I was saying is that bf3 was adding additional lag of ~100-150ms, while his TV has a built-in (manufacturer's) lag of about 80ms. My big plasma has a built-in lag of 100ms, but my computer monitor probably has a lag of <5ms. So yes, BF3 has issues, but his TV isn't helping either.

  • i'll try to share this around on different forums

  • Thanks for testing this and posting your findings. I'll try adjusting my resolution when I get home from work today to see how that works. For me, it also seems like the speed of gun movement is unchanged when aiming down the sights compared to normal player movement. Something about it feels different from the beta.

  • thanks for the work im getting the same issue on xbox but they have allready annouced there working to fix this so hopfully this will be fixed soon

  • @TheRandyNinja let's hope thats true, the game is excellent otherwise.

  • @juanjux yeah its pretty good i managed to turn my resolution down to fix it till the patch
