  • next there gonna grow gills right?

  • that must be THE coolest thing. to swim with coral reefs with no goggles or bulky swimsuits.

  • I've seen a lot of videos about things that are considered abnormal today and have been astounded by the fact that the majority of humans (before civilization as we know it) could do these things; I regret that i have missed out on all these skills and can't help thinking that the Human race is weak these days. We rely too much on our technology and ignore our own natural abilities; it's sad really.

  • I'm 18, i wonder if i could learn how to do this. I can open my eyes in the sea just fine, but i can't see with "extreme clairty".

He said their pupils let in less light for them to see, so i wonder if we can train our eyes to do this with sun-glasses on under water.

    Why couldn't i have seen this video when i was 3 or 5 :/

  • I totally remember doing this the first time I went swimming when I was like 6. But now I need goggles.

  • SEXYS BOYS UNDERWATER......!!!

    NEMESIS

  • Why don't they tell us how to learn this!!!?

  • Fuck, children can use to it. It's too late for me.. dammit!

  • Can only children learn this trick? I'm 20. Think it's possible??

  • uk what i can do what others cant i can close my Butt Hole :p

  • i guess having a marine people is possible after all :D

  • lets see them do that in a pool with chlorine! MUHAHAHAHA.

  • 1:13 long armpit hair... jaja

  • hahaha to the evolution did it comment.

  • I went on a film shoot to capture this a few years ago. Director travelled from Germany to the Surin Islands to capture the Moken diving with open eyes. When we got to the location and ready to shoot the old Moken guy pulled out a pair of goggles and put them on to dive. It was hilarious but the director was well pissed.

  • whats the trick?

  • wait what?! okey I wanna know how that spell works..

  • Its so strange but I think I can do this! I learned how to swim by myself this summer in Cuba & its weird cz I can only swim when im fully underwater & i can see pretty clearly.

  • DAM.. you evolution, look at what you gave me, why cant i have that, damm you bitch

  • @007agentmr This isn't a product of evolution. Visual acuity can be attained after subjecting any individual to underwater training without any visual aid.

  • are they from thailand or myanmar?

  • @inuyakino Thailand.

  • He can see more clearly underwater than you or I, you or eye, you're eye. LOL BBC

  • i went under water with my eyes open is kind of different but scarry at the same time

  • Anyone else come to this video thinking it's title was "Monkey Children"?

  • @delshayDiCamilliano That is an extremely ignorant statement. The Moken sea gypsies heavily rely on such a visual adaptation for survival: they attain various foods from the sea floor. These people don't even have electricity. This is a beautiful example of a biological adaptation of people from a different geographical location with very different means of survival.

  • I WANNA KNOW HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

  • So you want to be a gypsy, Ozzy?! :-)

  • @BenC961 sarcasm. its hard to convey over interwebz

  • explains why i can see underwater better than above if i don't have glasses or contacts...did not know this was unusual!

  • Oh my.. it is so.. Fantastical.. I'm amazed.. real life mermaid..

  • one person don't know how to dive.....

  • ITS BECAUSE OF GYPSY MAGIC!!!

  • you must look into the sun for 5 days straight and then you can see underwater

  • how!?

  • well i guees that means no drinking or taking drugs before diving...damm..:)

  • Think I'm just gonna stick to goggles.

  • i just wear a mask :)

  • For many years I have lived with the guilt of killing a fellow human being. Back when I was 11 we visited a water-park on holiday- I was mucking about with this other kid & I pushed him under to see how long he could go without breathing- but left it too long & he didn’t come up again. I just swam away & acted dumb when the body was found & Police asked questions.

I recently told a Police Officer friend about this- he just laughed & said no-one would be interested after all this time…

  • @SuperTruth77 umm wtf??

  • @SuperTruth77 are you like fucked in the brain!?

  • @SuperTruth77 cool story bro

  • Evolution much, I mean this person can pass this trait to his children... and they can pass it and pass it

  • @2253546942214 "Studies suggest that any child can quickly learn this trick" No it's not evolution, just your brain adapting to a new environment.

  • @ilovelfc123

it never said it was evolution

  • The more you learn.... @ilovelfc123

  • u can actually make your pupils dilate smaller or larger and it not a trick its to do with concentration on a thought process and no salt water doesnt normally hurt your eyes

get a mirror and look ito it at your eyes and use a thought process say think of something you like and something that scares you at the same time concentrate on dilating your pupils,it will come and dont be scared when it happens its a natural process..and be proud of yourself when you get it right

  • @klunk64 how though? can you do what that guy did on there?

  • @annieg2010 before i had my injuries i could do a lot of things ..now sometimes i do things i dont want to do lol

  • Over years of depending on the sea to survive, they've simply evolved a greater capacity to see underwater.

Basically, none of us can 'train' our bodies to do this, it takes generations of individual genetic mutations, coupled with the necessity of underwater site, which has allowed this. =)

  • @earnshaw24 wut? It's not wrong... how do you think this occurred? By magic? If you're going to accuse someone of being wrong, atleast take the time to explain why you think you're right =)

  • Damn, I can't even open my eyes underwater without it stinging to high hell. This stuff is miraculous.

  • this is a bit scary... :/

  • heres a trick I use, to see clear under sea: put head underwater, and blow air bubbles towards the surface. step 2: manage the bubbles to get in touch with eye sockets. step 3: you can now open your eyes and see through the pocket of air trapped between your eyesockets. step 4: make sure you don't make abrubt movements as you descent to the bottom. step 5: ??? step 6: profit

  • merpeople....

  • wow. i cant even open my eyes in the ocean

  • i could do that i thought everyone could do it

  • that won't help, i'm half-blind on land anyways >.>

  • U must tell me your secret, wise one!0.0

  • I know how they do it......Heroine, those kids are on smack !!

  • who cares about clarity. How do they resist the salty sea water in the first place? Fucking osmosis.

  • @dnguyen11 Taste your tears! Then you will know! ;-)

  • @dnguyen11 mfw tears = same chemical composition as sea water. HURRRR DURRRRR

its chlorine water that you cant stand dumbass

  • @dnguyen11 Urm maybe the water isn't as salty there? Maybe they have accustomed to the salt levels? Moron?

  • @dnguyen11 Salt water doesn't burn your eyes while under water. It only burns when you get out of the water...and it's only bad for like 10 seconds. Go to a beach and just look under water. It doesn't burn your eyes. I go to the beach all the time and do this.

  • @dnguyen11 That really depends. I used to swim in Black Sea without goggles and it feels very comfortable, even better than fresh water

  • @dnguyen11 Sea water is neutral to your eyes, your eyes take absolutely no damage to seawater. Salty seawater is even used for eye medication.

  • Lol, doesn't it hurt to open your eyes in SALTwater...? i would imagine it would sting really bad....

  • I can't even open my eyes in sea water :/

  • @Matteratski If you did it more or less since you were born it wouldn't hurt. It's all about adaptability.

  • But how??!!! I wanna know how!!!!

  • i used to be able to go swimming underwater and see fine without goggles it was only when i was forced to wear goggles that is became a problem

  • I think its an exaggeration to say we 'thrive' on Antarctica.

  • Or you could just buy some goggles...

  • @so4eyo i thought that aswell, part of what make humans soo amazing is that physically we don't need to train our eyes to see under water, we can just get some plastic and rubber from tesco for a fiver and we see better than that guy ever did.

  • how the hell do u make ur puils smaller??!!

  • Come on spill the beans. How is this done?

  • how the hell????

  • Im pretty sure anyone can do it after enough practice.

  • @topjonn trust me... ive tried....

  • anyone can see under water, I do it all the time and my eyes are still 20 20! This is how you do it. #1 jump in the water. #2 dive down, #3 open your damn eyes!

  • @EmergencyGear911 most people see everything blurry

  • @audveltadmuna wow really? I never knew that.. I though if I could do it anyone can... I did start when I was young, that could be why my eyes have adapted...

  • 16th

  • I'vve neer opened my eyes in the water before...so

  • I just wear goggles.

  • @Chiverton08 That's a solution I suppose.

  • Doesn't salt water kill their eyes??

  • @AveryBook Theyre probably used to it.

  • @AveryBook hahaha no xD salt water just stings a little bit

  • @AveryBook in fact it makes them healthier , btw.... talking of "killing eyes" how about the pc screen ...

  • @JointCracky Killing eyes meaning HURT LIKE HELL. But yeah, the screen also kills.

  • for those who want to learn how to do this trick:

    1. age backwards

    2. Swim a lot opening your eyes underwater

    3. you will learn it.

    4. age forwards

  • @MrGish1 i did it! makes my eyes feel weird. now time to try underwater. thanks.

  • its genetic i think, cuz they live off the water.

its like all the know, so they have adapted??

  • ok, so how do they do it?

  • thats amazing!!! I wanna learn how to do it!!

  • Great..!

  • i can do that to but then in fresh water

  • Why don't they tell us how then?????? I WANNA KNOW! TAKE THIS SWIMMING POOLS AND OCEAN! YOU'RE NO MATCH FOR MY EYES IN A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS!

  • @Clubpenguinvids01 probably genetic

  • @Clubpenguinvids01

Because they are able to constrict their pupils to the smallest

point possible and change their lens shape to the known limit

of human performance, Moken children can see twice as clearly

    underwater as their European counterparts.

  • @thedzeus How though?

  • whoa...

  • 2nd

  • first
