As a retired high school choral director, I was happy to stumble upon this. Many, many fond memories that were the path to a glorious past - I thank you.
I live in Christchurch, New Zealand an there is a thing called Christchurch schools music festival and there is a special choir in the middle that you have audition for and 520 people auditioned and only 200 got in and I was one of them. We have our own little song that we do and this is it and I don't care if you don't believe me but we sound just as good as this. We do it in three parts sepranos (high part ) ,middle part and a lower part called altos. Its a great choir but lots of practices
I'm in the senior special choir too! We do have a tonne of practices but I thoroughly enjoy them. Our conductor tells a lot of funny stories like the one about the old man on a bike. I can't wait for the real performances coming up soon, but they're really tiring. I love being on the stage doing the songs with movements, I think we'll send the audience home singing Anything Goes for sure!
whats your name and what do you look like. I am called laurel and I am short with blonde hair and when we perform I stand on the side in the front row
I won't say my name but I have longish blonde hair and I stand in the back row around the middle. Can't wait til' we preform soon, I'm so so so excited!!! :-)
Allister MacGillivray wrote this song. He noted that his song was written in response to a photo of Glace Bay Harbour (Cape Breton), as taken by photographer Warren Gordon. "I wanted to write a song with no people in it, only boats at rest. Of course, there's a ghost in one of the verses but he/she doesn't qualify as a human." His other songs "Coal town Road", Here's to Song", Kitty Bawn O'Brien","Looking Back","Sea People", "Tie Me Down" and my favorite "Out on the Mira". I miss living in CB.
ok so were singing this in my choir of 70 and we have lesson where its like 3 students and then the instructor and he wanted me and my best friend erica who is in lessons with me to tell wat the song was about so we came up with this huge story about pirates lol :( we were wrong but its a really great song and our choir being 70 kids makes it really powerful
The recording is taken from 1999 DBS Homecoming Concert, not 1998.
The HYS choir did NOT participate in this song. There should only be DBS, DGS, and DPS. It's surely Ronnie #'s deliberate attempt to make a "Diocesans Family", which is something that pissed the other 2 participating girls' schools off.
we're learning this song in choir right now and i kept thinking....this is such a beautful song....it didn't even have 2 be the lyrics that make it beautiful but the way it sounds really struck me as awsome! i heart this song<3
We are singing this in choir and I love this song more then any other :)
