I think Alan will be released only, and only, when he and the kids finally learned something... They are so slooooow in getting the clues all the time! And than the kids are back in the town and they didnt learnt anything from the game (share the cookie or throw it away ;-) )
By the way, this is episode 14 not 23. For whatever reason the poster skipped this one when 14 came around and went to 15 as 14, but posting this here hopefully fixes the order as The Trial (the one posted before this) was supposed to be episode 23.
Like I said in part two, this stuff brings back a few vauge memories of watching this show. Now that I've seen the whole thing again I've pieced together what little I did remember: I remembered a bit of the clue, the ant queens ordering their deaths and them floating on that log before finally returning home
