What I don't get is why everyone seems to think that this movie was terrible? Sure it wasn't the best movie out there. But it wasn't the worst either. It was a better then average movie that received poor results to due a massive fan base for a popular cartoon.
You can't expect a movie being based off of 20 episodes worth of animation and story, to actually be perfect. He had to cut things out, and while he made a few rather bad mistakes in his choices, it was still a good movie overall.
...No offense to any African Americans at all...but the Kyoshi warriors were based off Japanese customs and styles, not African. If Shamalan could have done this movie even worse, I'd be surprised.
Only thing he did right in the film was the music and the rendering of the Northern Water Tribe city.
1. Film is racist. Bad casting did not represent the characters in any way shape or form. All main characters in the animated series are ASIAN NOT WHITE or INDIAN!
2. Bad Acting, wooden dialogue terrible performance.
3.Fight sequences are a bad joke smacks of parody even. Totally lacking of the excitement, punchy and dynamic sequences of the animated series.
4.M.Night Shyamalan just about the worst choice of movie director for a beloved animated series. *Costumes were terrible*

That was interesting, actually. I found Sokka's expression to be quite Sokka :). I suppose they only got rid of this scene and the whole deal with the Kyoshi warriors to save time :/

I'm one of the few that liked the movie. But, I didn't watch the cartoon series till just this last month on Netflix. I now understand y ppl r dissing the movie, but i still say it wasn't that bad.

Mainly cause of all the battle scenes (Invasion of Black Sun & the final epic battle) Also, my favorite character was Zuko, hell I just bought a pup and named him Zuko, lol.

I don't think Katara wasn't too bad, but Sokka and Aang were WAAAY to serious. Their acting wasn't too good either. I was pretty disappointed in the way this movie turned out. I know it was kind of adapted into movie form so some things had to be changed, but come on! I c that the movie was supposed to be more serious, but it just didn't work. I hope that M. I'm very disappointed by this film. The series was the best cartoon I've ever seen. I would have preferred no film at all to this rubbish. It's like some kind of terrible multi-million dollar school play. Except worse.
It's such a stain on an otherwise top-notch package. Before this I could tell people I like Avatar but I hesitate now, they'll only think of this I wish I could go back in time and change everything about this film, gah. What a joke. Always imagined Aang as a skinny Tibetan...

you know in the cartoons, 1 guy makes a move and a huge boulder the size of a car fly's against an whole army, in the movie you see 6 or 7 people make a rock bending move.... you think that's gonne be huge! well.. WRONG!!! it has the size of a freaking basketball, i laughed but also cried deep inside.... so i watched a cartoon again:P on tv... 3 days later

I don't think Katara wasn't too bad, but Sokka and Aang were WAAAY to serious. Their acting wasn't too good either. I was pretty disappointed in the way this movie turned out. I know it was kind of adapted into movie form so some things had to be changed, but come on! I c that the movie was supposed to be more serious, but it just didn't work. I hope that M. Night can redeem himself if they make a second movie. If they mess up Toph, I swear....

I cried during the movie. I literally sobbed as I laughed...it was the most horrible movie I had ever seen, simply because it already had something perfect to play on. I just..no... "He's making fire out of nothing!" Well hell yah he is, that's how they all are supposed to do it! This turned into a rant...my bad ^^;
