good point!! Different cultures = different way of protest. If you are blatantly oppressed, then peaceful protesting may not fix much (or at a slower rate). America hasn't really consistently presented its oppressions because there is ALWAYS a spin to things. So the people are confused on whether they should be MAD or NOT. So this may result in a tamed society where it views protesting as against mainstream, where mainstream is the reality, and changing what is mainstream is "bad".

what i mean by mainstream is reality, that: How the world is viewed today is normal, can not be changed because this is the way things are suppose to be. Well im sorry but as a north american protestor, in houston actually. I believe in the power of peacefull protest. At least here in america, womens suffrage, martin luther king are both very successfull peacefull protests. Not to mention all the boycotts of certain businesses and states during the civil rights movents.

the people of Rome and N.America have a different culture, so dont expect the same results. Look at the middle east, these protesters are tough to deal with, they kicked ass and never backed down. N. American people have this thing about being peaceful, and doing things by the constitution. In N. America, we still live in isolation from actively bonding with people, we have isolated ourselves and set ourselves in trendy groups which really just divides us. We bonded far too long with "materialism". I believe that many of those people who will not strike back have been tamed to the point of fearing to retaliate against another human being **with a label** (which is what police men really are).
