Do you suffer from painful cold sores? I did too for a very long time. I got them when i was a young child and struggled through my childhood years, shying away from people at school cause i had disgusting cold sores on my lips that had people asking every 5 minutes"what's that on your lip". I agree, it really does work. I have been plagued with cold sores for years and decided to do some research and found this video. You can buy 60 (1000) tablets for £3 to £4 from Holland & Barrett.

this is great advice, it makes sense that while you have a cold sore, not to eat stuff that has low abilities to fight viruses...thanks so much!..and ps to all you people out there who get cold sores....you are not alone..tons of ppl get them...and allthough there is a stigma attached to them, they do not in anyway take away from your character, or change your value as a human being...don't let ANYONE make you feel bad, it is very, very commen, and you can get it a million ways...peace guys!

i have a prescription to acyclovir it works wonders... 2 a day while its active 1 a day until it goes away... it gets rid of em in about 3 days

One word: Valtrex. Yeah, yeah, I know it's supposed to be for herpes type II, but it works on cold sores AMAZINGLY well. Gone before they even start. The only pain is that it's perscription- I got it because my mouth scarred when i used to get those nasty things bad.

I have one small one and it made my whole lip swell up. Ir figures, it doubled in size on my 2nd day of school so i didnt go! Damn this sucks. I'm doing anything i can to get rid of it by monday.

A bit much. I take a preventive regiment of 1,000mg per day during the time I'm likely to get a coldsore (late winter/early spring).

When my coldsore came, it was about the size of a pin head. I upped my regiment to 1,500mg and the sore was gone in 3 days.

L-Lysine works amazingly for my coldsores. I only take one 500 mg capsule every or everyother day, and get no outbreaks. 5-7 grams seems insane to me.

L-Lysine is a dietary supplement and an essential amino acid. This means our body cannot make it on its own. Since it's something that our body needs naturally (it's found in legumes for example), we cannot become dependant on it because our bodies already are to a small degree.

I'm not sure, but I think taking the 5-7 gram dosage, like this video says, is meant to be taken only when you have an outbreak.
