  • @nycrtst33 ~ a fistula & shunt have been tried on numerous occasions, my circulatory system just isn't up to the task & the result is a clogged system.

I am down to my last access site via XK so I'm very guarded with it.

  • God Bless you and all of us:)

  • how old are u? i started daiylsis when i was 22 yrs . nw i 24 yrs old and i hate the needles being so fucking big ahaha

  • I started when I was 12yrs old. I'm now 36 and have been on for nearly 24 years, and proudly have never missed a treatment. This is a tough thing to go through. All I can say to you is to stay positive, take care of yourself, and get out of the house.

  • @MikeMartin01-wwwowowowow 24 years you must have followed everything the doc said, can you give us tips to last that long, thank you and God bless:)

  • I started when I was 20yrs old, my uncle and mother have been doing dialysis for a little over 20yrs now. How much do you love life? Choose Life!!

  • God bless man. Best of luck with everything dude!

  • Thank you for sharing this video! If anyone watching is considering hemo, please research Peritoneal Dialysis as well. This form of dialysis may fit your lifestyle better and you may have more energy. Ask your medical team if you would benefit more from PD. Many people on PD play basketball, golf, tennis, and travel all over the USA as well as travel on cruises. Thanks again for this video.

  • People on Haemodialysis are able to do many of those things as well. With haemodialysis you don't have a tube interfering with intimate things. However Peritoneal dailysis does allow for more flexibility in travel and work schedules. While on Haemodialysis I have played golf, basketball, gone swimming, tubing, competed in a BMX world championship etc. Haemodialysis won't stop you from doing those things either though it does make travel more difficult but not impossible you just have to plan.

  • I just started my hemodialysis, and I'm only 31 years old. I'm one of the younger patients in the hospital. It's a different change in lifestyle but it's not a life sentence. God bless and I hope you get well soon. :)

  • i just started, i'm 22.

  • Sorry to hear that. I started on my 22nd birthday.

  • @nbomb1204-i started at that aged 2 now im 25:)

  • I feel your pain.... my mom has been going through this for the past 5 years (3 times a week) we were told it was just temporary. I should thank GOD everyday for having my mom with us.... but it is hard as I see this sad lady crying everyday in pain, she stop living. she bascily staying in bed most of the time and all we can do is see her waste way..... I miss my mom

  • why thank god, you should thank dialysis

  • dialysis is just a tool for my well being. god has kept me away from many complications that can happen "because" of dialysis in the last two years. this is why i thank him.

  • my mom has it 3 times a week and i feel your pain also

  • Be strong, I've been there, it's not easy. As God as, my witness, I took care, of business, with my love one. Good Luck!

  • damn i feel your pain and i'm only 22 i got the catheter on the right side of my chest, my kidneys are destroyed.i go for dialysis 3 tims a week 4 hours it sucks not eating like 80 percent of what i used to eat but that is the least.A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IS A GOOD MEDICINE CAUSE IF YOU JUST GIVE UP YOUR BODY SENSES IT AND THAT'S WHEN PROBLEMS OCCUR.I HOPE WE ALL GET GOOD.

  • Be blessed, and all the best. I pray it, works out, for you. Good Luck!

  • This will be my 16th year on dialysis, I'm 40 now and after two failed transplants.

I feel that maybe I should just give up on that issue and live out what ever god has given me,which might not be too longer if this catheter finally quits.

Good luck all I wish you the best in everything.

  • Please, don't give up! To a certain degree, I understand your pain. Reason being, I took care, of a love one, who spent nine years, on dialysis, it's not a easy thing. I understand, the getting up, early in the mornings, the personal sacrifices, running from physician, to physician. Seeing the exhaustion, and the pain, but we pressed on, for those years. I gave up jobs, retirement, relationships, and other things, but God as my witness, IT WAS WORTH IT! We fought, to the end. Be strong!

  • @blastolean856-hey what about a fistula???

  • i just started my clinical training for dialysis at fresenius medical care north america... It is freaking awesome but its alot to learn but it is good knowing what you are doing for these patients 3 times a week you get close tot hem so soon and its a great feeling.

  • hahahaha im in the same boat!

    im 25

  • i hear ya....

  • @finestbottleofheron-me too and im 25 2:)

  • Hi sweets! I was on dialysis for 5 1/2 years before my sister gave me a kidney for my birthday ( it jusy freakishly happened the transplant surgery took place on my 47th birthday). Hemo is best in my opinion. I considered PD, but I was freaked out enough with the needles (a tube hanging out of my belly would've put me over the edge. YOU are in my thoughts, as are all those who are dealing with this condition. DO NOT ABANDON HOPE!!! PMA is key(positive mental attitude. Peace, Danny

  • i know what you mean about PD. just the thought that i wouldn't be able to go to the pool is enough to lose my mind.

  • To all of you who are on dialysis I commend you. I am a PCT and Instructor in hemodialysis I teach my students that they are the patients ADVOCATE

who else spends 9-12 hrs a week with you running your blood in and out at 12 X's an hr.

I care about my patients and hope they stay to some extent feeling well. I would like to here from you folks to check and see how you are doing. Cloning of organs without embroynic stem cells (using Skin Cells) is being done. Keep on praying!

  • the k's are so much better h's suck!! hey i hope you are doing okay and handling dialysis well, i know patients often get sick with the start some get better others just stay ill i hope you are well take it easy!!!!

  • Ahhh the 2008 Fresenius K machine...I hate it!! The H machine is soo much better!

  • i wouldn't know this video was my very first dialysis. i was still interned at the hospital.

  • you and me both, I learned on an H then a K, and they suck! I'm at a clinic with H's but we have K's on order, which sucks!

  • hi! im on dialysis too. i hope we all get well soon..

  • This is great that you share this with others. I wish I could hear the sound! It's important that we all take care of bodies and get prescreened for kidney failure. If your kidneys are failing, research peritoneal dialysis as well as hemo and discuss with your medical team which one will work best for your lifestyle. Visit me to find out about what you must know BEFORE doing peritoneal dialysis. There are pros and cons with both dialysis procedures.

  • thanks for your comment. at first i was gonna go for the peritoneal but when i heard i was going to gain weight and would never be able to go to the beach or pool, i quickly opted for the av fistula.

  • God Bless you jqdsilva ,I pray somehow you can make a full recovery or at least gain a better quality of life.

    All the best

    BHF!

  • thank you so much. i have faith that someday i'll go do a check-up and the doctor will say:

"your kidneys are back to normal!" Praise the Lord!

  • I know what you mean. I got conjoint kidney symdrome and not only that but i have chronic kidney disease. my kidney only works 20% man. it sucks man. sadly, my kidney will never be back to normal unless i get a kidney transplant. i know soon i will be on dialysis it is unavoidable for me. usually my blood preasue is 160/113 which is hypertension, i got all the symtomes of chronic kidney disease and today april 16 2008, i will go again to my Neprhologist to find out what is the next step to take

  • Best of luck to you. Try to get your BP under control REAL SOON and you may put off dialysis for awhile with BP drugs... Diet is very important (watch phosphorus and potassium especially) water pills,etc...Talk to your dietician. You can lay off some foods to help yourself keep your blood 'cleaner'. Avoid Orange juice, tomatoes, milk, cheese potatoes, mellons, dark greens, beans(ANY legumes),etc...TALK TO YOUR DIETICIAN AND YOU WILL DO BETTER THAN IF YOU DON"T. Peace to you.

  • My doctor suscribed me Atenolol for my BP, i got a diet of no salt whatsoever, eat freush veggies steamed no salt, no CHEESE! i mean i can no saul but cheese, it is real hard for me though..i love making my pasta every no and then ith lots of cheese and my tomato sauce (i can't even have that either) way too much sodium.

  • Ya you have no sound with that video. Looks like the Fresenius 2008K Hemo Dialysis machine like the one I am on 3 times a week in clinic!

    - Angie

  • sorry it was filmed with my cellphone.

  • I couldn't hear anything... Good luck!
