nobody cares about the church. they let the building deteriorate so that they could tear it down. this was the plan all along. demolition by neglect. it's a well known trick to get rid of buildings that would have been saved otherwise.
I agree that it's sad to lose these beautiful historic buildings to parking decks or otherwise ignorance. I am ashamed that even having grown up here, Birmingham has no real sense of history by repeatedly over the years subjected itself to the total destruction of all it's aesthetically and significant sites leaving it with absolutely no reason for anyone to ever bother spending money to visit here. Great planning, guys! Keep up the good work.
