  • I used to wonder what friendship could be...

But then Final Fantasy 9 showed it to me.

  • Zidane and Tidus are one of my favorite characters >.< Tidus has a great character development, even at first he can be annoying. You'll find him really likeable in the end! So far, only Zidane and Tidus can make me laugh. XD (besides Steiner)

  • @DaaVuuD FF9 is my childhood game. Fuck FF7

  • FFX was one of my least favorites.

  • @boblimereal Kinda glad to see someone agree.

  • @blankfaceisclaimed @MsDarknessofthemoon Neither of you two know what you're talking about. Tidus is a great character that started off whiny, but changed dramatically as the story went on. If you didn't see that you're just stupid.

  • @xblank245 I agree with you 100%. Although he may be one of FF's weakest protagonists, he was the one character that I actually related to the most. I used to be whinny just like him, but over the years, I've changed. We're both avid athletes in water (He's a Blitzball Player, and I'm a surfer/lifeguard), our skin tone's the same, our personalities are more or less the same, heck; even our HAIR is similar.

As a protagonist, Tidus remains my favorite to this day.

  • @ThePistlwhipr You forgot to mention one of Tidus most important personality traits ^^; he's a team person, You're sad or upset? he will make you laugh, you're doubting of yourself? he will /cheer you up! You need a hand? he will help you.

This is what they made him be, thats why he is probably one of the most charismatic character in all the FF stories, indeed.

  • Up until I played Dissidia 012, I never really did care much for FF. But once I played it, it made me want to play each character's individual game.

It was one of the best decisions of my life. I'm slowly making my way down the FF timeline, almost done with FFII, and moving onto III. Long live the Final Fantasy series and their gifted producers.

  • @ThePistlwhipr well done!

  • Favorite ff theme of all time PERIOD.

  • ''Remember, you'll never be alone, you must fight for your life, even if you are fighting alone, you are not really alone, you just reached here because your beloved protected you and raised you.''

    Long life FFIX and squaresoft!!!!

  • People that badmouth Tidus, obviously did not played FFX to the final. We see a teenager turning into a grown man during the game. That's what I call development.Nevertheless, great OST.

  • ive never actually played this game, only seen the let's play by hcbaily, and i can say that this is my favorite final fantasy game of them all. its just one of those games where everything cliques perfectly with me, like kingdom hearts and the tales games did.

  • I may have to make a particular purchase on the PSN after hearing this...

  • I love seeing a character like Zidane who is so supportive of others and upbeat go through a moment like this in a video game. It wasn't until that moment I really liked him as a character. The archetypal "happy-go-lucky rogue" turned on its head...

  • Man this song is so swell but it makes me sad and depressed at the same time .

  • 'bunch of babysitting bastards'

playing this for the first time when i was about 12 my face was like :O.

  • @CKentxx man, playing it for the first time at the age of 20 i nearly cried!

  • I....just love this game....so much..../sobbing

  • This may seem wierd but today I lashed out at God and everyone who loves me as a person. I got to this point and watched as Zidane did the same thing to his friends who loved him. But they stood by him and didnt let him go by himself. If I go by myself if I quit look at all the friends I would be letting down. How many people I would hurt. Sorry this song just makes me very emotional.

  • @neotev I hope everything's o.k. man, be strong

  • Bladiebladiebla

  • I always make a save before I hear the song so I can hear it again and again

  • Simply...classic.

  • This is one of my all-time favourite tracks in the FF series, and the scene it's played in is surely one of the best - and most human, which is why it rings true.

  • I've felt how Zidane felt during this sequence except nobody came to my rescue, which sucked but I found my way. Always remember, you are not alone.

  • @Jordy20074 You realized you were the angel of death?

  • @Sytirical You raise a very good point...

No, but I did feel really shit.

  • only thing I didn't like about the game was the strategy guide that told you to go to playonline for EVERYTHING >.>

  • @Sammy102093 THIS it was the first and only guide I had (got it with the game for christmas so atleast didn't waste money) and I'm like, that's not helpful. Especially in the dial up days....

  • Wow.. jut wow ive not played the old FFIX for a loong time... this really takes me back to when i was young, takes me back to seeing Terra for the first time... that crazy elevator puzzle that drove me crazy for hours then this... for me the best scene in the game.... What a masterpiece of a game to make someone remember something from a long time ago just by a few notes of the music

  • For me, FF-IX is the best FinalFantasy of SquareSoft. FF-IX (with better graphics) > All

  • @WarnockTerror I agree 100% on that statment

  • Comment removed

  • 1:12, thats where perfection reaches another level

  • @MrLou5 no, you failed

  • I swear, Squaresoft really knew what they were doing back then...

  • FF IX Best OST & Best game

  • 3 people are alone.

  • 3 people have a horrible ear for music

    best ost ever *^*

  • i crai evrytiem

  • i cried a lot of times when listening this song. long live nobue san!

  • Final Fantasy X-2 was made by Squaresoft. Check the Japanese game case.

  • the most fitting song i've ever heard in a game scene. Nobuo your creations are out of human imagination...

  • @FF9fanatic actually if you and me were good friends since childhood you would know that it really is not because i think of good music for stuff like this

  • I haven't played this one, but on a side note anyone who played Legend of the dragoons remember what happened to Lavitz, and when we see him again later on. The first made me shed a few tears, the second got me close.

All those old games need remakes.

  • I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS ONE

  • Zidane is my favorite protagonist, because he's always happy go lucky compared to all the emo, sad, whiney protagonists in other FFs.

This scene was so heartbreaking because Garland broke his spirit and soul, he becomes depressed and distraught,

And only now does Zidane realize that his friends are always here for him like he was for them.

What an incredible powerful scene! The only time I have ever shed tears for a video game!

  • @kagomefan101 So i take it that you havent played any Metal Gear Solids, FFX, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus or Mother 3. Those are the game from on top of my head that I can remember crying over. Probably the most memorable for me were MGSs. I grew up with MGS and I grow old with MGS. MGS3 in particular was really sad.

Though i dont deny that this moment on FFIX is emotionally strong. FFIX is up there on my favourite games of all time mainly because of all the character development

  • @stidukka I have played FFX and I hated it. I did not connect to the story or characters at all. I didn't believe it.

I haven't played those other games you listed, but that's purely your opinion. It's difficult to make me cry and this one scene was one I remember crying in.

  • @kagomefan101 Actually to be completely honest, its not purely my opinion. MGS 3 and 4, Okami, Mother 3 and shadow of the colossus (i think) are in the top 20 most tear jerking video games of ALL TIME.

  • @stidukka Who knows, maybe ur just a cry baby.

  • @Ninjadude973 Or maybe I dont have a heart made out of stone. It's really shallowminded saying that people couldn't cry over games. Why can people feel even some sort of affection through internet? Why does facebook exist? Why can you laugh at something thats virtual like a video or a game? Those kind of emotions and feelings are something that pour out of peoples heart. 90% of the things in our world happen because of feelings and actions taken from those feelings.

  • @stidukka

I was crying in this scene in FFIX, but even more so I was crying in a certain scene in Valkyria Chronicles...I think anyone who has played the game can guess which scene I mean.

  • @kagomefan101 >Hasn't played metal gear solid series yet

  • this song screams only one thing:

    epicness

  • Yes! Ive been searching for this song a long time, when I played the game I was stuck there and so was the song in my head!

  • That's it , I'm gonna play FFIX Again even i'm already Play it 10000000000 Times since i'm 8 years old

  • While Final Fantasy 4 is my favourite FF9 definately comes in second place, idc about people who might complain to me saying FF7 was better, imo FF7 is so bad that i've forgotten basically every part of the story (except the part were you're going through Clouds memories) and even that is just a vague memory...

  • @StockexRaynieftw meh, imo FFIX is better than IV, but IV is a great game. and i agree FFVII is bad, the story wasn't great(find shinra, find sephiroth, beat jenova, find sephiroth, etc.)the characters weren't that great, etc. but with FFVIII, FFIX, and a lot more final fantasies, the characters were much more developed and you got a good sense of what was going on with them, the story's werent a find and kill quest, they were much more.

  • @kimahri2800 I don't think 7 is bad, I actually think it's quite good. The thing about 7 is that it's OVER RATED AS HELL. Seriously, people never shut up about it. It was cool at the time, but they improved greatly with 8 and 9.

  • @kimahri2800 I agree, the only character that was developed in FFXIII was Sazh. No one else really was that well. Ok MAYBE Hope.

  • @Ninjadude973 yeah power to Hope

  • @Ninjadude973 I dunno, that's debatable. Lightning for instance. Is reclusive, and prefers to be alone. However, thanks to her encounter with Hope, and watching him turn down a dark path, her emotions were tapped in to memories of herself in the past. This respectively allowed her to view herself, and change to someone in which Hope should be. She changed to be a better example for the future, and releasing her emotions that were built up allowed her to be more open with the others. -My opinion.

  • @Ninjadude973 I would plitley have to diasagree. Vanille (despite having tendencies to be annoying) grew out of her running away from her troubles and learned to face them with people she loved by her side, Fang learned to be able to trust others more by the end of the story and Snow... well nothing happedned with Snow actually, he's still a dumbass. And like the other guy said about Lightning and check out Hope in Xii-2 he's hella badass now.

  • @elDudacus you just said check him out in 12-2 it's xiii-2

  • ;_; I remember crying as a kid during this part of the game

    I was so happy

  • I so wish this lasted longer in-game. Fighting to this music was amazing

  • The single greatest piece of Final Fantasy music ever composed.

  • on of my favourite tunes from the whole FF series

  • @swvhk YESSS! :) agreed.

  • @Wiseman108 how bout u not make chuck norris jokes and enjoy this amazing song instead? O.O

  • /repeat

  • i love how the songs play an emotional role in the game, and how they all fit together with story, characters, visuals, events, practically everything! there's just no song (out of the 100? songs) that doesnt fit, they all do, and they all carry a special thing with them... great memories! and like Sephiroth says: FF9 will never, be a memory... let's carry it with us for eternity! (i know i keep my copy safe) :P

  • This is the song that plays when Chuck Norris dunks his last Oreo.

  • @Wiseman108 Rofl, wat?

  • @Wiseman108

    THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE!!!

  • @XGiftedGamerX lol, does anything Chuck Norris related have to make sense? 90% of the jokes I see are impossible and/or don't make sense. Perfect example: "Chuck Norris can blow bubbles with Beef Jerky."

  • @Wiseman108

Never heard of that one tbh...

  • This part could have failed very easily, but actually managed to be an impressive feat of story development.

  • vivi is the best end of discussion

  • "I will not be defeated so easily!"

"Now I mad! I cook your good!"

    "Steiner...Quina..."

    "HAVE AT THEE!"

    "TASTE THIS!"

  • @SuperMissile i've learned so much from being with zidane vivi quote

  • One of the best friggin music in the game to me, this game is too amazing!!!!

  • One of the best parts of the game, long live Final Fantasy!

  • i've never played it but i want to dress up as vivi

  • Nanaki's theme right here! Cosmo Canyon from FFVII, recognize? It sounds so familiar.

  • i must stop listening those songs,or ill commit a suicide cuz i have no hope of going back in time to my childhood,im not interested in present nor future(cuz it ll only get worse)i want so badly to be kid again..

  • @DaaVuuD You're not Alone =)

  • Where is Eiko Carol and Quina Quan? X)

  • I love FFIX and this music give me Hope. Thanks Nobuo!

  • Love this song. Love love LOVE!

Zidane is probably my second favorite FF protagonist, next to Zack. The two of them are awesome because they aren't stereotypical emos and whiners like a lot of other FF games are tying to shove onto us. They're fun loving :D

  • @KirbyChan Zack's story is a true tragedy. Did you meet his parents in FF7 for the ps1? If not, look it up, or do it. Make sure Tifa and Aeris are in your party.

  • @OmarLeKing Of course I did. Poor guy never got to say goodbye to them.

  • Is it just me or does this music make you want to walk down a street and look like a bad ass while killing everyone? no....no...no.....I am probably just a psycho.

  • I always listen to Final Fantasy music when I'm depressed. I listen to it alot. Which is worrying.

  • @wwaarrddy It's not something to worry about. Final fantasy is magical, uplifting, and an experience any wise person would appreciate playing through. I, for example, have the final fantasy 8 original soundtrack. Am I ashamed? No. In fact, i showed everyone in my house the day it arrived. Being different is something we all should prize because final fantasy is a series of it own. No other game or series can match the emotional potential this series carries.

  • @finalfantasyfreak86 I know dude you missed the point of my post. It was insinuating I'm sad alot, which is mainly due to Square-Enix bastardising the series haha. I love all the FF music and constantly try to get my mates to understand it's magnitude. Losers don't get it!

  • @wwaarrddy same for me! one of my friends actually DOESNT LIKE FF9 because it has "kiddy characters" and for him, it feel like a kiddy game!!! :S there's sooo much more in most FF games that you don't find in other games right now, most games have "gameplay value, ands great visuals" but not the characters, emotions, deep stories, all correctly managed in a brilliant game! too many people (like the new generation) will miss that... my daughter however has no choice!!! mhuahahha :P

  • @lolindirlink People who don't like games just because the art style or character design isn't realistic or 'mature' annoy me. FF9 is in my books the best FF game and a lot of people didn't even try it out because the character design wasn't as realistic as FF7 or 8. The game has many mature themes and the things that happen certainly aren't childish.

I'm glad you're going to make your daughter play some real games :P

  • @Badham94 ye and she won't get the expansive 3DS/Vita eiter, she will learn Gameboy-style :D

  • @wwaarrddy fair enough

  • am i the only one who hasnt played this game but half understands the game from its soundtrack and from comments? awnser: your not alone XD

  • @KIllzorlolz This game is one of the best in the series. It almost made me cry. I LOVE this game so much I have a zidane figurine in my room. If you can, and if u have a ps3, i would suggest buying the game off the psn network. I think it's $10. If you do play it, tell me what you think of it. I'm sure you'll say something like, it was mind blowing.

  • Super Melody!

  • I dont know if people understand me but dont you feel like you are a boss when you battle those hard battles with Zidane while that bass in the beginning plays?

  • @Robben911back I understand you. Totally.

  • Isn't this the part of the game where Zidane goes all emo? Yeah fuck that.

    Womanizer Zidane > Emo Zidane.

  • @MrCheeseman2011 As a wise person said, you don't make a good character by making them all emo, whiny and fed up with life from the start of the story, you make them happy, cheerful, content. And then you break them.

So to me, even Emo Zidane is cooler than the constantly mopey FF protagonists.

  • @Ryusola Exactly right. Actually, thats what happened to Cloud in ff7. The Sh*tty spinnoffs made him emo. So, old Cloud: Yeah! New Cloud:...lame.

    Company merger i guess?

  • @Ryusola Very true. Zidane went through a lot, but eventually just couldn't hold it all in anymore. I admire that so much and it was excellent character development. The same thing happened to Tidus in FFX. Its why to me FFIX and X are the best in the series.

  • @XxEndlessSorrowxX so true speak the truth and only the truth

  • @XxEndlessSorrowxX Except while Zidane had legitimate reasons to get angry and feel scared and alone, Tidus just kind of whined like a little baby. I'm sorry, I like FFX as agame, but I hate the balls off its story.

  • @XxEndlessSorrowxX The thing with Zidane is, he was SO happy-go-lucky, ready to help everyone and not afraid of asking for help, he could help Vivi make decisions of his life, and in the end he could listen to a reason. But when Zidane's will broke he would rather sacrifice himself than request help from his best friends, he would do it all alone, without any consent on what will happen to him. He would die so his friends could live on. That was so sad but same time heroic.

  • @XxEndlessSorrowxX tidus does not compare to zidane. tidus was annoying as hell, whiny, and hairbrained. the ONLY similarity between the two is their breakdowns toward the end. and even then, tidus is a brat, while zidane has basically lost himself. there's a big difference, and zidane is deep down way more mature and complex than tidus.

  • @blankfaceisclaimed i agree, tidus is annoying as hell. Zidane is too badass to be compare to that whiny bitch tidus. yea zidane is more mature and complex way deep down.

  • @MsDarknessofthemoon i second that

  • @Ryusola you're right, but the only ones i consider whiny, are Cloud and Squall, and maybe Tina (Terra)

  • @Ryusola Ahh.. Hideko Anno style.

  • @Ryusola or he's just cooler because he has a monkey tail...

  • @MrCheeseman2011 lol you're right. but I still loved that part of the game

  • To the two people who disliked this, I hope the only reason is because this song brought you to tears as you remembered this section of the game, and your vision was so blurred that you hit the wrong button.

  • @NightmareSymphony Can't be anything else.

  • Final Fantasy VIII is the best

Final Fantasy XII (12) is the worst

  • @Dla2K8 have you actually played all the way through 12?

  • Dragoon's log, Day 57: It's been over a month now. I still can't find Detylche's nefarious comment. I can't help but think that it's all in vain, but curiosity has truly gotten the best of me. If I don't make it through this... tell my wife I forgot to pay rent.

  • I have so many memories with this song... I have never heard a more powerful song to a more powerful scenario ever. Nobuo Uematsu for ever!

  • This theme would deter someone from suicide

  • @Inmate288 and it has, not me, a friend of mine

  • я эту мелодию постоянно напеваю..

I constantly humming this melody ..

  • This game was the last Final Fantasy...VII, VIII and IX are the best in FF series. The rest are games focused in graphics, forgetting the most important: gameplay.

Personally, I value more the gameplay and the plot than the graphics.

  • @FrankieRed93 Have you played FF VI?

  • @uzay2000 No, the first FF that I played was FFVII.

  • @FrankieRed93 FF 7 & 8 aren't good. 6 and 9 are the best. Don't talk about 6 because YOU haven't played it.

  • @uzay2000 If you are right, you will have a lot of thumbs up. A person who says that ff7 & ff8 aren't good games has no idea of rpg games.

  • @FrankieRed93 I don't ask for thumbs up, so I don't expect to get thumbs up.

  • @FrankieRed93 I wouldn't really say ff8 was a good game it mostly was a love story. I'd say the best are ff6,7,4, and 9. I mean ff6 had the best gameplay, ff7 had the most appealing characters, ff4 was the first ff with actual story, and ff9 went back to the classic final fantasy and ff9 was also the first final fantasy I played. If I were to rate them ff7 would be 9.7/10, ff6 10/10, ff8 8.5/10, ff9 9.2/10, ff4 9.5/10, ff10 8.5/10, ff12 9/10. sorry but this is my opinion.

  • @9522537 FF8 it's considered by all the fans the best game of the FF series. The game had a perfect gameplay, story, and I think that is the only FF where G.F. has the importance they deserve. And FF8 was the second best selling game for the PlayStation (Gran Turismo was the first), so I think that the sales and the opinions given me the reason. I'm sure that most of people that actually are 20-25 years old don't played FF6.

  • i really don't think anyone cares what was the last "good" final fantasy for you. Everyone has different tastes.

  • I think some good points have been made about the voice acting. Although I never played past IX, the music really moved the story along. Its like reading a book with music, not watching a film. Although books and film are good, books offer a greater sense of depth and emotion. Sometimes the voice acting falls flat on its face because they get cheesy actors.

  • Such a good game <3

  • Zidane: i am an enemy of the people of gaia

Zidane you have friends that you watch out for and they do the same

  • Final fantasy are no so final anymore though! Each one was unique, and now you have all the # - 2 crap coming out x.x FF X was the last good FF in my opinion.

  • I LOVE FF IX

is first played FF XII but i think its a remake of FFIX

When i was a kid i always watch it when my sister FF IX played

i love eiko she was so cute and small

my lovely summon was Karfunkel i think in english it calls ruby i dont no :D

    this year i played FFIX

    I LOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEE IT!!!

sry my english is very bad xD

  • if u ask me which songs are epic for me..i would answer with these songs..because in my opinion..epic music pieces are those able to travel you throughout the whole planet earth!..

  • i remember someday i sent this song to a friend, to tell him he's not alone...

  • After Final Fantasy IX it began to fall apart. X was good but the end of it began after IX.

  • Best Song Best part of any FF Ive played

  • You know, it's weird, FF7 was the first FF I ever saw a glimpse of, but this is the first I really played, and I loved it from the first second. I was about 9 when I got this, and I was a bit stupid and it was actually my first RPG as well, so I wasn't used to simple recipes for success such as "use a potion NOW, or you'll die!) so I got game over a lot before I even got through Evil Forest. And for 8 years it was my favourite game ever... then I met Shenmue...

  • This is probably the most unexpected theme in the game, but a well played :D

  • One of the best FFIX themes imo :)

  • Final Fantasy is a story and just like any other story anybody can have his favourite one... In my opinion it doesn't exist a best Final Fantasy.

  • Final Fantasy is the Best Final Fantasy because well its THE Final Fantasy.

  • My absolutely favourite FF-game ever. peace
