  • Downers Grove? That was my library!

  • That was So Awesome !

    Time Warp.

    Thanks.

    Teri

I get my mom to listen next time.

    She know. She knows All.

  • Reminds me of my grandmother's vintage reel to reel deck. It was made by the Revere Camera company. I still own the deck, but it needs servicing (I think the caps have dried out, tubes work fine). I bought a used Akai solid state reel to reel deck, still recovering all the music she recorded. I too have old reels that I don't know the artists. I might do a video like this to help identify them. Thanks for posting!

  • Why all lthat uninterested chat at a Good manrecording?

  • Joehartka is right on the money. My father was a bass player for Tommy Dorsey. and he related all these recordings to me, one by one. I can't correct any of what he answered!

  • Anything in stereo is definitely not the Dorseys. They died right before stereo came out.

The first band sounds a little "sweet," any of these could be Lester Lanin, Billy Vaughn, Mantovani or Lawrence Welk (or countless others.) There was a lot of this kind of music being recorded in England around 1970 for MOR/Schulke format radio stations.

  • The second song is The song of India, possibly by Benny Goodman

  • Third selection is "Tea For Two" with a Latin beat, maybe done in a Bossa Nova. No clue who did it, though.

  • First song is definitely Sentimental Journey. I've heard the second one, but don't know the name--could be done by one of the Dorsey Brothers. You can hear this piece in the movie Cocoon--when the old guys are going to the rejuvinating pool.
