  • One more thing. Though the film is set in the early 1960's, it has a very optimistic view of race relations. T. B.'s romantic interest, the Marines at the hotel lunch counter, Guy's acceptance in the jazz club. It was a nice slant. I credit Hanks.

  • Tom Hanks at 1:20. The coolest! And T. B. Player is thee most underrated musician of our time. Great movie. It has Charlize Theron in it. (sigh) BTW...I am not Spartacus. What "I am" is an oh-knee-ders fan for life.

  • I love this movie!!

Just a note to everyone who seems to think they weren't really playing or singing in this movie:

The fact is they WERE playing and singing themselves. That is all them. :) It makes the whole experience of watching this movie that much better. Those 4 actors have more musical talent than the gross majority of musical "acts" today.

  • you should see the movie...if you like or love this song you should look up the wonders all my only dreams. and look up the wonders that thing you do. :-D

  • i never even heard of these till i watched the film and noew im in love wih them

  • best song on cd!!!!!

  • T. B. Player was my favorite Wonder. I have all the albums he ever played on.

  • Probably one of my favorite band of all time. WOW!!!

  • every detail in the movie is dead solid perfect. the songs would have been hits in '65 if they'd been out then. the song writing (and the music itself) is exactly period correct. I graduated high school in '64, and there were bands around like this one. I was in one. No hit, though, but a great time to be alive.

  • Absolutely! In our town it was The Windjammers. And one ended up leaving to go into the military. I am surprised that Tom Hanks considers this a "frivilous" movie because it is a totally honest movie. For anyone too young, trust us, this was EXACTLY what it was like circa '64-'66. Not a false note in the entire film.

  • I went to high school with Tommy Johnson, who eventually founded the Doobie Brothers. But in '64 it was RD and the Showmen (after the Fender amps), then in '65 the Whitman Sampler. Same uniforms. In '66 Tommy's band opened for my band. Different paths since then. He did rehab, I've been married to the same incredible woman for 38 years. I actually believed all that stuff about love, kinda like the fictional Guy and Fay did in the movie. Hard to believe he didn't drum until this flick. Killer!

  • tom hanks is a great film actor and director as he did this film.

  • bloody brilliant video my favourite no1

  • Little Wild One was for me the best track on the soundtrack but it didnt get the same exposure in the movie as the other main songs

  • i saw this in the theatre in 1996 when this came out... it never gets old. it's hilarious... plus the actors in this film have some awesome movies especially Chad the drummer that broke his arm hahahah... Steve Zahn was awesome in Employee of the Month

  • Never heard of this band. Saw them on TV movie today.Only two hits they have?

  • Its a movie lol.

  • Just saw this film on satellite last week. I thought this was a great film, and I still haven't got Dance With Me Tonight and That Thing You Do out of my head. Catchy tunes!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I liked it much better than the title track.

  • i concur!!!

  • Land of Lincoln!

lol, that's the next thing Lenny says after the clip cuts off...

  • Bons tempos!!!!

  • Muito foda essa música *-*

  • this song is way better than that thing you do

  • this song is 5x better than that thing you do

  • I still get a kick out of Steven Zahn's enthusiasm for this number.

For a guy who was probably lip-synching and guitar-synching his contribution the whole way through, I think he did VERY well.

    Quite believable.

  • The joke on the others was that while Tom Hanks put them through "Musical Boot Camp" so that they would look realistic, Steve Zahn had been playing the guitar since he was a kid. While Jonathan Shenk(?) was getting bloody fingers, Zahn was just strumming away.

  • i heard they actually practiced together for 8 months prior to the movie

  • Actually it was 8 to 10 weeks, before the start of principal photography, not months, and the only one who had any previous experience was the bass player.

  • @ 1:20 Check out the woman in the audience (to the right of Tom Hanks) wearing yellow: Is she "feelin' it" or what?! LOVE this movie, especially this song.

  • Haha! Totally!

  • Yep. She's the sort of gal you want to find in an "extra."

  • just watched Steve Zahn in Sahara

  • lennie is pretty much the sexiest one in the movie, besides guy

  • Best song from the wonders. :-)

  • Yeah, check out Steve Zahn. He's a player and singer. That's him!

  • SHADES <3

  • if you watch the behind the scenes on the DVD it tells you that they WERE actually singing and they HAD to learn to play the instruments (which makes it that much better!!)

  • this song is good but that thing you do is the best

  • They did a really good job of miming the instruments on this.

  • I'm really impressed with the actors in this movie, they REALLY pulled off making it look like they were playing this song live. Excellent timing from everyone.

Or were they really playing this? I know they didn't really sing it, but were they really playing the instruments for thess songs?

  • Actually, those are their vocals and they trained and rehearsed for 8 to 10 weeks before shooting to play every one of the songs in the movie. Tom Hanks was insistent that they not only looked like they knew what they were doing, but actually did know what they were doing.

  • LOVE Steve Zahn's solo from :43 to 1:02. Totally clean tone and nice surf guitar licks!

  • I love Shades! XD

This has to be one of my favorite songs besides That Thing You Do.

  • yihaaaa.....

  • i love i love!! i love tom everett scott (guy)

    !!(L)

  • simplesmente mara!!!

    adoro

  • *-*

  • vaness wu sang this song on their concert member of f4

  • i love the wonders

  • I love that the bass player is never called by name the whole movie, and his "bio" at the end lists him as "T.B. Player" lol

  • According to Entertainment Weekly, Hanks (who co-wrote the movie) didn't realize until asked on set one day that they had never given the bass player a name. They gave his replacement, Wolfman, a cool name, but not the original. That's where T.B. Player came from.

  • i love this movie and this song. Leo was my favorite character in this damn movie. Ugh. I am actually dancing while typing this! haha come on and dance with me tonight. dudddeee. ugh. love love love this song. haha

  • The best song on the soundtrack.

  • Check out my video of Dance With Me Tonight and see what you think?

  • amoooo esa peliculaaaa (L

  • They look like they are having so much fun!

  • So sad how this amazing musical art form called rock & roll has morphed into the turd it is today. And sadder still that so many kids think their turd is gold.

  • my all time film ive watched it 90 times at least i love the part when there hearing it on the radio for the firs time sends shivers down my back captian geech and the shrimp shack shooter were funny my band plays this song love the song and the movie

  • Nothing like a sound of a Fender 65 Reverb, oooh yea...

  • Does anyone have the tabs for the solo?

  • I rate ths song on 1-10 a great 20!

  • "Welcome up on stage, the o-nee-ders". Lol! I love this film! The frontman is heavily modelled on John Lennon - the way he stands - legs apart, with his Reichenbacker around his chest, shoulders high, head jutted forwards. The o-nee-ders are very similar to The Beatles! Great band, great film!

  • Hey, that's the O-Nedders :) My all time favorite movie!! I literally watch it all the time, still!! Fantastic!!

  • THE O-NEDERS!! u made me laugh

  • "It's really important that you NOT stink today!"

    LOVE this movie!!!!!!!

  • Hey! I make no guarantee!

  • nice whooohooo lol i like it :D

  • I heard this song playing at Wal-Mart the other day.

  • Love this song,f'n rocks!Great movie too.

  • Land of LINCOLN!!!!

  • loooovvveeeee

    lol the oneders

  • Shades and Lenny are the hotties of the movie. I love this song!!

  • I disagree. The hotties are Shades and Jimmy (oh my...)

  • Yep, easily the best song in the movie.

Zahn has a lot of fun with it too.

  • Rock n Roll Yeah!

  • OMG I love this better then the title track.

  • Steve Zahn is so cute in this movie! Normally I don't even notice him, but I do in here!

  • THIS SONG IS THE BEST SONG IN THE MOVIE!! me and my band saw this movie together and we knew we would have to cover this song. check out our cover of it. ha ha its me singing!

  • THIS SONG IS THE BEST SONG IN THE MOVIE!! me and my band saw this movie together and we knew we would have to cover this song. check out our cover of it. ha ha its me singing!

  • best song in the movie

Guy Patterson is the man in this movie

  • ditto

  • This song would have "rocked" back in the day. There are about 4-5 songs in this movie that would have been Top Ten, and "That Thing You Do" may have even gone to #1. These are catchy tunes.

  • Lovin 00:18! Class!

  • otimoooo

  • This picture did not get the credit it deserved.

  • Yeah that's true! It was a great film with awesome songs!

  • By far the best song in the film.

  • I also think it's the best song.

  • 1:20 is my favorite part of this song. Tom Hanks is so cool..

  • Tom Hanks is the bomb! I'm friends with the REAL Tom Hanks on Myspace! He was on Oprah talking about his page, so I searched for it and found it.

  • I have this movie on dvd.

It has the ''extended cut'' it is so amazing.

  • I am Spartacus :)

  • NO!

    I...AM...SPARTACUS! :P

  • i love this song!!

  • Liv Tyler @ 1:30... smokin!

  • Don't you think the drummer looks like Ned Brower from Rooney? Or am I the only one?

  • He reminds me of tom hanks I think.

  • I agree, they definately didn't do anything for Ethan Embry storywise, they din't even gove him a name (credited as "T.B. Player)...weak.

  • Thats the point. Bands are all about the front man and the bass player is always the unknown, or at least the less well known guy.

  • Except for The Beatles.

  • Sadus, Dogstar, Motorhead, Kiss, just to name some, all about the bass player...

  • Ethan Embry has got "the bass player" thing down pretty good. The storyline for him in the movie is pretty dumb, though ...

  • their awsome the films brill! =]

  • Electrovoice 6L6

  • i noticed that too

  • wait....this was filmed in the '90's, but was is set in the 60's, coz their guitars are very high up

  • such an amazing song!

  • thank you illinois!

    the land of lincolnnnnnn!

    :D

  • Wonder if that's really Steve Zahn singing.

  • The vocals are provided by Scott Rogness, one of the co-writers of the song.

  • That's too bad. I would have liked to have seen if Steve could belt it out like that.

  • It is Steve Zahn....al you have to do is read it on his IMDB page. He's been in a band before. He did all his own singing and playing in this movie.

  • its also in the featurette on the DVD, they trained to play these songs and the instruments.

  • plus he sang in saving silverman

  • awsome

  • i sing this one with my band! check it out in my vids

  • mto foda essa musica! @.@

  • Johnathan Schaech who played Jimmy Mattingly was married to actress Christina Applegate, but, they're divorced now.

  • It's really sickening the trash that is on the radio/satellite stations and people can actually write, sing, and play good music like this. A re-union movie with the characters might be a good idea. Many bands that were one-hit wonders re-unite; might be an interesting movie. Hey Tom! Are you listening??

  • your so right man,

    Johnny

  • PLAYTONE SEZ ...........GOOD IDEA

  • i love the wonders!!!!!! i can only find 'dance with me tonight', 'that thing you do', 'all my only dreams', and 'drive faster'. i want to find the rest but i can't makes me sad.

  • you can order the album.

  • musica muiiiiiiiiiito tudo

    \o/\o/\o/

  • look at the lady in yellow at 1:19, right after tom hanks did that thing. hahaha :)

  • lol yeah! haha

  • Yes I love this song! In my opinion it is the best one they sing. I love Tom Hanks at 1:19. Lol! :)

  • Me too--his character actually GOT rock'n-roll for just a brief moment. :)

He quickly reverted back to "making money mode" though.

  • this song is kick ass

  • Lenny is the best character in the movie.

  • =P Esta cancion me encantaa mi papa la escuchaba xD

  • Mr. White really liked the part at 1:19. Hes thinkin "Those are my boys" lol

  • When I was little I saw this movie but never understood it. I watched it like 10 times recently and it is such a dang FUNNY show.

  • kool i like this movie it was kool

  • @ at about 1:16 the bass player makes a face. that's really cute, right before he sings.

  • Yeah I saw a special about the movie when it came out. Tom Hnaks had all the actors learn to play their instrument and its the actors singing too! Rockin' right? HOT too.

  • PIMPLIN! jk. still pretty cool it really is them

  • my dad loves this song

  • Love it, love it, love it!

  • is that really steve zahn's voice?

it's awesome!!!!! and his playing looks totally foreal!! :D

  • No, it's not really Steve's voice (none of the actors did their own singing), but he totally rocks it out anyway!! :)

  • I live in Erie, PA.. we are very proud of this movie! Tom Hanks did a great job showing the downtown area where drummer worked and the Army/Navy Store. Mercyhurst College looked just like that. WOW. When Tom and the other actors came to visit, they really were warm to all of us and even sang a few of the songs... and yes they could play the instruments and sing.

  • This is on of my fav movies of all time. Great songs and they actually look like they can play. I bought an old Dave Clark Five movie i saw at the store. It was made in the late 60's and the art package on it was almost identical too this movies. And I've been in love with Liv Tyler ever since. Heard she was filming in the Hulk 2 movie here in town and couldnt find her, to tell her.Lol.

  • i forgot his name but the bass player (who DOES have a name btw) from Fountains of Wayne (Stacy's Mom, Someone to LOve etc) wrote the songs.

  • of course he HAS a name! but not in this movie! Thats cool that he wrote the songs :)

  • Adam Schlesinger is the one you're thinking of.

The character in the movie, played by Ethan Embry, is never given a name. He is only referred to as "the bass player" and at the very end he is listed as T.B. Player.

  • i love this movie. i have watched since i was like, i dont even have i dea as long as i can remeber. and ya 3 guys under me is right, we had guy, lenny, so on, but the bassest never had a name o.O or atlest i odnt remeber it

  • Man, I love this song! Second only to "That Thing You Do!"

  • best movie ever!!!

  • I always found it amusing that they never gave the bass player a name. He went by T.B. Player (The Bass Player). Anyway, great song and a great movie. "Lenny, why don't you go and visit the cockpit? Tell 'em it's your birthday."

  • hey thats onedders lol!

  • I love this movie....I posted the whole movie....Go watch it....

  • where did you post it?

  • This is one of my favorite movies. Great song. Thanks for making the video! =]
