Cichlids are very hostile and aggressive, you can't fondle with them, or any other fish. Plus the tank is way to small, one oscar needs a 35-40 gallon tank minimum.

In the 50, 1 oscar is VERY cramped looking. in the 55 a full grown oscar STILL looks cramped but they say 1 oscar per 55 gallons do they not? this tank is CLEARLY larger then 55 gallons, nuff said. you guys need to quit preaching like you know something. there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with this fish in this tank.

But it is also true that you shouldnt go and pet your fish touching them is fine, like cleaning out your tank and such but petting them and grabbing is not it can cause stress to the fish. and eventually kill it. Koi and chiclids are more immune to touching compared to other fish but you still shouldnt do it.

No offence but, You should never ever ever touch your fish in any situation. They have a slime coat, I'm not sure what the technical term is. But when anything comes into interference with this coat that they have it causes harm and sickness to your fish. I'd bite you too if you started taking off my layer of skin.
