the soundtrack is clearly not sped up, the video is spliced and altered, but the soundtrack illustrates the dawn chorus very clearly. I can pick out individual bird songs at clearly normal speed. Thanks for this nice clear illustration that 1080 is not the reason for our silent forests. I've been over Northland, Coromandel and Tararua and the forest this summer in those places is almost silent.
ignore trakabrat he's brainwashed to the fact 1080 is aok especially aerially. yes it's currently "the most effective tool doc have" but one of the dealiest poisons made by man and rapidly being banned worldwide..wonder y nz uses near 90% of the worlds production.doc knows time 4 1080 use is fast running out....trakabrat is the worst case of 1080 promoting i know of.funny that but then he is a doc officer bahaha .go figure .google and see the truth people
What disturbs me is not so much the opposition to 1080 but the way opponents lie through their teeth about the effects. I can understand why hunters are upset but lets be honest, some of these guys couldn't give a rats arse about native flora an fauna. They are the same people that cut down live Rata for firewood and think nothing of it, these people have been destroying the West Coast for years.
Oh wow trakabat.. that wise comment definately proves that its not sped up! I'm afraid anyone with any intelligence could hear that the bird noise IS sped up, not only by the shear cocophony of a noise that is meant to be normal but the pitch of it all! Way higher pitch than it should be! Just listen to it!... You wont convince me! I've spent my whole life around birds and heaps of time in the bush abundant with birds! No point wasting your time here... i wont be convinced!
I'm serious, Happyhellybell, the audio is running at normal speed, you've said you'll eat your pyjamas, I'm just giving you an opportunity to think about the wine to go with the meal.
I live in the farnorth and the bush is silent !!! At night you can hear no Weta, it's sooo sad! we need 1080 drops up here so badly, most of the bush has about 7 possums every 2 acres, and heaps of rat every year not just every 3 or 4 like the south island. Any trapper there are only trap in the pines because it so much easyer.
Thank you. The tripod's a real drag to carry around and set up, but it's worth it. I guess the trick with getting close is really about figuring out a distance just within the subject's comfort zone and setting the zoom to match. But, it's also about luck and persistance too.
Since when does a dawn chorus that has been sped up several times ( shown by the obvious speed of clouds) show any relevance to bird numbers! Wheres the normal speed version?!

Good one mate - keep up the great videos coming.
Its a real shame the internet gives fringe defectives a chance to serve up their baseless platitudinous crap time and again.

Posts such as the one by gunnaterry illustrate just how little anti-1080 activists know of care about NZs native wildlife.

DOC propoganda, Doc kills all animils indiscriminantly with 1080.

Typical unsubstantiated and meaningless anti-1080 PR slogan, tutekelahore, got anything factual to contribute?

AMAZING!! Excellant footage, I never use a tripod myself but it does give a superb edge to the filming .. how do you get so close??
