One day people will stop being shocked when a highly tuned car beats a standard car. I would just like to point out though that if you pop on auto trader you'll notice that you cant do much better than a Focus ST for £6000 (maybe even a bit less) and you can tune one to near on 280 bhp for 2k and you get that awesome sounding 5 pot. Thats a lot of car for £8k. Ford aren't Fix Or Repair Daily any more, the STs and RSs are good cars, as are most Fords. @neilcross1 congratulations, you'll love it!!
the subaru obviously is'nt a prodrive edition racking it up to 325-330bhp because if it was the subaru would shit on an st in acceleration but top speed ok the st will over take but subarus arnt made for straight roads. oh yeah and bear in mind the st has had bluefin chipped so its probably like 350-400 now.
The subaru is a four wheel drive vehicle which looses 15 % of it's bhp through it's drivechain. The ford's are great cars, as i have raced evo's and subaru's and the only thing they are good at is traffic light racing or rallying. And i'm not even bothering with the renault as the build quality is shocking as most french stuff is. Ford have good build quality, pace and running cost's- and aren't foreign crap!
Well I have the megane r26 since new, 3 year old, 40k on the clock, not a thing has gone wrong. Either i got a good one or your talking out your arse !
@MrDonal101 Doesn't matter if anything has gone wrong, i was talking about the build quality. I had a clio 182 cup, good car; crap bulid quality. Clearly not talking out my arse as you put it, read some reviews and this backs up the comment made. Each to their own i suppose.
We were doing a sprint events, sprints was between 3,5Km and 5km long... My Focus ST is still stock and the only Subaru's who beat me was the highly modded ones!! :-)
@TraxxasJoe the sti in that year isnt as fast as the classic models, even my brothers old 93 wrx beat a 03 sti! many years ago. even tho it had the boost up slightly it was still way less power! my sti v3 wud easily show these lot how its done :D
Get the R26 in the twisties and it would show up the ST for sure with its LSD! Little surpised the ST edged ahead of the R26, though they were similar bhp, but the ST was a slightly heavier car?
@XXdriver2000XX from what i can work out the others are remapped yeah, i have a standard ST and it can't keep with my mates STi until we hit maybe 115-120mph then i catch him up
