There is a continuous two-note keyboard drone throughout the piece. That is the only overdub.
Notes can be played below the capo because it's a Harmonic Capo. The "extra" notes you hear are achieved by pull-offs, drag-offs and secondary notes played on the "wrong" half of the strings. Watch my "Harmonic Capo Tutorial" and "How the Other Half Lives" for clear examples.
BOB! Awesome job once again! I knew you could relearn this one, and thanks again for listening to my request! Such a beautiful composition!
Since I'm on a roll of being the one to choose your next songs...I was wondering if somehow you knew how to do a split screen so you could record Shadow Dance. I think that'd be awesome!
Once again, no pressure if you don't want to, just letting you know that I know there are still people like me wanting more new Kilgore videos! Thanks again, Bob!
Thanks for the suggestions! I'd love to be able to do Shadow Dance, but I don't know if my current video software can do a split screen. I'll look into it.
If not you should do something like The Puppeteer. I wasn't sure you were going to put the keyboards from Event Horizon in this, so now that I know you do, The Puppeteer would be awesome to do.
I'm not sure Puppeteer would make such a good video, unless I could arange to record it live with my brother. The guitar doesn't do much really, so the camera ought to be on the keyboard player for most of it. Unfortunately, my brother and I live about 500 miles apart, so this wouldn't be easy. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Wow. I mean WOW. If that's harder than it looks, then I'm surprised your fingers don't just tie in knots even trying to play that. I remain in total awe of your playing.
its harder than it looks!? it looks impossible, i don't know how much harder it can get! one suggestion is I think the piano sweep pad should be lower in the mix relative to the guitar
Thanks! The hard thing about this is controlling when you hear the notes on the "wrong" half of the strings. The third mic on the right is there to pick up those notes. Most of the time, they'd be really ugly if you could hear them - other times, I want them to be heard because the effect is really cool. Controlling that with "touch" is not easy at all. At least, it isn't for me!
very beautiful guitar piece man. Its so damn sweet when those melodys are played together. Very inspiring! stay cool dude

how are you getting all those lower noted notes with a capo/? if that thing is on tight then your not really playing this. your guitarded.
superclutz 3 years ago
It's not a conventional capo.

It's supposed to be a fast 6/8, but if I had to play this and count at the same time, my head would explode. ;)

LOL!! Harder than it looks?? It doesn't even SOUND possible, much less look possible. Amazing stuff, Bob!
Just a curiosity. Have you ever had your hands on a Chapman Stick? I could see you as a natural on that instrument.

Thanks, Moosie! I've never tried a Chapman Stick, but I'd like to. I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun.
