i think vines are of the same branch as nirvana but grow their own fruit. that being said craig is the real deal which cannot be said about a majority of the names in the music business. listen to him in interviews and read about him some more, the guy is guinenly weird, a little nuts and very artistically focused. alot of his stage antics are not antics at all but him actually going a little nuts because of his mental condition and just riding the energy from the music

Yes, similar guitar driven rock had been done before in the 60s and 70s but the "clean chimey sounds" to "heavy raunchy sounds" and the folk styled singing was something Nirvana perfected and defined. Kurt was a visionary that way and created "something" from "nothing". Craig on the other hand just picked up where Nirvana left off. No real vision there. No stress of having to create something new.
when Nirvana sang bad it was for effect for the "rawness" of it. (or he was losing his voice). In Craig's case it seems almost like he's covering up his flaws by "not trying" or "being silly". And this goes back to the maturity thing. Kurt was more serious. When he goofed around, he usually would finish it off with a serious note. You walked away feeling like it was an artistic gesture. With Craig just seems childish and unprofessional.

Okay, Nevermind & In Utero both affected me when i was like 15, thats when i first got into Nirvana and ever since i have completely idolized Kurt Cobain and i'm still fascinated by him. But then Highly Evolved is equally as good as Nevermind and The Vines kick ass and have affected me just as much and have slightly more relevance now. LOVE them both alot, cant decide who more. Why am I the only one who does not compare the two? Kurt was great, and Craig is great, why all the hate! Nirvana was awesome, why does a band that people think resembles them are horrible? Kurt would love The Vines.

Kurt would have hated The Vines for the same reason he hated Pearl Jam after their "Ten" album. They're corporate frauds and doesn't bring anything new to alternative music.
I fail to see any difference between Craig and The Jonas Brothers cause they're the same brand of repetitive, self-indulgent dross. A glam and image and not a shred of originality or unique content.

Ok, I admit Craig has a similar style. But not all his songs are like this. Really I am a big nirvana fan, but Craig is a way better songwriter than Kurt. I mean do you hate him? Okay, Nevermind & In Utero both affected me when i was like 15, thats when i first got into Nirvana and ever since i have completely idolized Kurt Cobain and i'm still fascinated by him. But then Highly Evolved is equally as good as Nevermind and The Vines kick ass and have affected me just as much and have slightly more relevance now. LOVE them both alot, cant decide who more. Maybe Craig wins, maybe, ahhh decisions decisions ahhhh.
