The Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial, dates back to 1984, after the shooting the commercial, his hair got burned, they used it in the US Only, the first year, they used it in the UK, around 1985, or 86.
@1986Sheri mr dog first appeared on the dog food scene around the mid 1980's in the uk. some years later it was re-named to ceasar. i still think of it as mr dog though.
I LOVE YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I cannot thank you enough, seriously, I also recorded this when dumbo was on - the ice advert used to give me chills as a child and I wanted to do an analysis but never found the video. What a coincidence, thank you again, so much!
I am not sure whether Dumbo went out after The Queen on Christmas Day in 1987, but I compared the ads in this clip with the ones that went out during the Harry Potter film after The Queen in 2008, and I have to say that you did have a better and finer selection of ads to go out in 1987 then you did recently - it seems that nearly ad in 2008 was a bout sales that started "10 am Boxing Day" or something.
Silkwood88, thanks for posting. It brings back a lot of memories. Oh yes, him on the aeroplane is from an episode of Red Dwarf, when there was a hologram ship.
Its a commercial from 1987! If there wasnt any of the 'Wacko Jacko' stuff in the News, would you have even thought about passing that comment? Grow Up!
I remember the Tunes advert really well. Whenever I hear "A Teenager In Love" I always think of this ad! Not many people remember the advert, sadly- I always recall the line "I think your window cleaner needs re-tuning". A classic.
I wonder why they changed the name of Mr Dog to Cesar. Perhaps it was cos it sounded like it was aimed at male dogs. Typically, expensive dog foods have male-sounding names while expensive cat foods always have much more feminine names.
That Kleenex ad ran for a few years. Mr Dog later became Cesar. I remember when Tunes had that packaging and when I was about five in 1990 I had a bad cold so my mum decided to get me some Blackcurrant flavour Tunes. I absolutely hated them and I still won't touch them to this day! That goes for any flavour of the horrible things. I stick to Hall Soothers these days!
My grandparents had it as well! But seriously, why were adverts from yesteryear so creepy?! I mean, the woman's stare at the end... it freaked me out then and it freaks me out now! The Holiday On Ice advert used to make me cry - something about the flames and the strong music.
I remember on the same Dumbo recording, in another ad break, the - what seemed like - 5 minutes long advert for Country Life butter where the little men sang the Christmas song. And the chicken Bovril advert! Memories!
@3:21 Drinking Shloer right now. Amazing how it has stayed around so long

I never knew Schloer was sold in the 1980s. Knowing what we know now the end of that Pepsi ad with Jaco is just creepy.

The singing champage glass on the Shloer ad reminds me of Rowena Wallace (Patricia from Sons and Daughters.)

Dog food ads always made me laugh when the owners would caress the food with shiny silverware as if their about to eat it themselves.

Has anybody got the 1989 ITV Christmas ident, when the V turned into a Christmas tree please?

It would be really funny if someone dubbed over the end of the Michael Jackson advert with Quagmire going "All Right!". Lol, I'm going to hell!

The window cleaner in the Tunes ad is Mark Moraghan, later of Brookside and Holby City.

That show signaled the death of CITV. People born after 1986 have no idea what CITV was in its heydey.

Sorry to be pedantic, but "CITV" wasn't born until 1993! It was Children's ITV before then.

The Tunes blonde is SO familiar from some 80's comedies! Who is she??
knyvette 4 years ago
Not sure but I think the window cleaner was in the Bill later......
KevCityboy 4 years ago
I've worked out who she is. It's Barbara Durkin from Alan Partridge, Boon etc.
knyvette 4 years ago
I don't know if she was from any 80's comedies, but if anybody knows different, let me know. Thank you.
dacrlit 4 years ago
dacrlit, I thought I answered this query 2 months ago..she was in a number of comedies such as Alan Partridge. See her page at the IMDB.
knyvette 4 years ago
She was also in a Comic relief Sketch with Mr Bean when she had to do a Blind Date style thing with Mr Bean and she picvked him mistakingly!
