Couldn't agree more. That there are many origins out there. It certainly didn't start in the 60's in Jamaica is all I can say for sure. We are all Africans if you trace the DNA far back enough!

Been to india man. Lived in the great desert. Smoked the Chilam with the original rastas. Long time ago now. I know the Jains and the Sadu culture predates jamacian history, unless you were an arawak indian perhaps. Study history and you will know all my friend.

@MrDutchieB First black people who had locks wernt rastas. Rasta is only a few hundred years old. When do you think Marcus Garvey was born? Second locks grow naturally on everyone if they dont comb their hair. Even ancient white peoples like norse, celtics and vikings had locks. While we on the subject look up the history of the word ganja...its literally an indian word thats from "Ganges", referring to the Ganges River, which is a river in India where Cannabis Indica grew naturally.

Interesting footage, however not accurately titled. The name should be UP YOU MIGHTY RACE. For the first Rastas were not from Jamaica. They came from the desert mountains of India and the Himalaya. They are known as the Sadu holy men who wandered in a quest of truth, and sought purification through prayer, meditation, a life without possession and contimplation with Ganja. Their ideology was copied by blacks in Jamaica and others throughout the world.

@teflchiangmai You are wrong my friend...Sadu and Rasta are different, may have few practices in common and some outward similarities but that's where it ends. Rasta way, belief and life is from Jamaica.

And cannabis grows in many places of the world, and originate in many different places.
