  • Thanks

  • I love this clip. The last frame seems so appropriate today. We will miss you Steve...

  • Apple fan from japan

  • isso e tudo verdade a apple modo o mundo o mundo nunca vai voltar a ser o mesmo

  • Derren Brown :D

  • Creative.

    Thanks.

  • Wow... Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak look so young... 0:55

  • what's the movie in 0:50?

    Can anyone tell me?

  • @liamtheboykid weird science

  • you killed the whole meaning of the original video.....

  • Comment removed

  • erm...

  • The only ones who really deserve to be in this video are the 3 "Steves". Hawking, Jobs and Wozniak.

  • @Molo9000 Maybe Doyle Brunson as well, but when I saw Michael Moore I quickly lost interest.

  • @Molo9000 and john stewart, and if you don't count steven then colbert to

  • Round kegs in a square hole --- I see Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton are missing in this video !!!

  • @m1y2sti3cal It was round pegs... not kegs... lol

  • Seriously dude, no one really cares. Arguing on the Internet sucks.

  • Think Differently**

  • at least stay with apple youll stay forever same here pc to mac went mac never going back

  • this thing are wrong....

  • lonelygirl15 ...seriously ? ... -_-

  • haha like the weird science clip!

  • Stephen Hawkings, Derren brown, and Michael Moore are the only ones, as far as I know, who changed the way people think.

  • agree

  • @flameonme what about Steve Jobs and Steven Wozniac? They obviously changed the world

  • Ariana Hufftington or whatever you call her has not change the world. She just married a rich man , owned a stupid online magazine and talk some BS on CNN as a part time media sell out

but the audio is great not the people who are in the video

  • I just agree with Stephen Hawking, the rest is trash.

  • This Man Show in video is not think diffrent

  • 0:13 lolz

    0:38 0:55 so true

  • i can't say i agree with the imges, but i have the message the audio delivers, thanks for the effort, but meh' the people you featured in the video, are really not that important, imo...

  • hmm this dosent look like the real ad. did you put this together your self?

  • this video was funny until the fat bastard known as michael moore appeared.

  • You can disagree with them, what you can't do is ignore them...

  • he's the best thing came out of u.s. in the dumb bush years..

  • Nothing personal, but the thing i feel about this is that you've mostly chosen members of pop-cultural who in reality haven't changed or done anything but maybe entertain us or be stupid. hence why the original is the best and will remain so..

  • Yeah, this is very 'internet culture'. I feel like I just looked at a snapshot of the average digg user's influences.

  • this takes the whole meaning of that quote away..half of those people are actors in movies..

  • reply to djisrad. watch the older one it shows Pablo Picasso MLK and others.

  • @djisrad thank god someone else noticed it. I cant believe this person compared MLK, Gandhi, Lennon, and Aerhart to fucking napolean dynamite, and a vid of some random girl in a cowboy hat. Are you freaking serious?

  • @djisrad Yep. Someone watches a bit too much Comedy Central...

  • Apple rules

  • those are just entertainers, i really wanna know how will they change the world

  • the last pic shows how crazy people can change the world...

  • stee is not crazy, he's genious

  • That last picture really MADE the video and would have made a great addition to the actual commercial.

To robertman, when the original commercial aired it wasn;t about the computers so much as what they did for people. At one time they were bigger than Microsoft producing better, CHEAPER computers.

  • That is a really beautiful ad. it also gives out an important message too.

  • That using an overpriced computer makes you a better person.

  • have you used a mac for a period of at least a month on a daily basis? it is honestly not that overpriced for the ease of use.

i got pass the price hurdle and thereafter, i stop fretting about windows issues. and mac freeware is so much prettier.

  • not really. it's a good ad. and i am on a mac and i love it. i used to have a PC and switched to mac and never want to switch back to PC.

  • I think apple user is a pretty cool guy. eh types emails in starbucks and doesnt afraid of anything.

  • JUST PERFECT! WELL DONE DUDE!!

  • that was so good!

haha i love the scene with adam savage, and then alton brown riding a bike through a grocery store xD

  • that's an amazing ad!

  • great

  • haha this is retarded I love you anyway though

  • good... but I'm not sure about the inclusion of fictional characters. Surely the minds behind South Park and Napoleon Dynamite deserve the credit?

  • Good to see Leo LaPorte in there.

  • Thank you Steve Jobs and Woz

  • Where could I download this video?

  • just have to add I love it for what it says not for the fact it's a apple ad :)

  • loved it!!!!! five stars!!

  • is perfect!

  • to avoid any fighting about to erupt here abot macs and pc's i own both,, and i know a lot about both so please just trust me wen i tell you they are both great machines for different reasons. P.Cs crash a lot, but are much more accessible to the intelligent users. and Macs cant really be customized to much but as a former (strictly windows fan) let me just say they really do run very smoothly

  • Adam Savage :) Mythbusters is the best,

and one of the best images at the end.

    Great!

  • restriction?

You seriously can change more preferences and do a lot more productively and creatively in a mac, rather than windows.

Theres not issues with drivers and crashing when you're rushing to get something printed in time, easier tools to use to get the job done quicker and at a more proeffessional slant, better media apps for free that are easy to use, but technical when you need it, and software for macs are cheaper (office £399, iWork £55.)

    Just face it!

  • Mac and Windows are both really expensive

I think that the combination Linux (ubuntu 8.04 (or any distro you want)) and a PC is the best combination.. and no restrictions at all..

Price with software for Mac: 1300 $

Price with software for PC (windows): 600 - 1800 $(1000 PC with vista, many people ant photoshop etc but some ppl don't want all that extra)

Price with software for PC (linux): 500$

And I'm talking about all just as fast

    Face it, Linux rocks

  • no it dose not

  • Hmmm, Why not, give me some arguments!

  • mac sofware is $130 not 1300

  • Set up a very light client running a minimal debian install with fluxbox for the window manager and you can breathe life back into a computer decades old. And I've noticed that the computers you get rid for that new Windows box run as fast as that new box once you put an OS on it that doesn't waste resources. Ubuntu and Fedora are the newbie friendly version, but to get it done right go Slackware, Debian, Gentoo or build from scratch and get a system that really flies.

  • IN CONSUMING WE REVEAL OURSELVES.

    Goodbye Kegminator...

  • who is everyone in it?

  • Great to see Doyle Brunson in there. A true genius

  • the steves and macs pwn

  • beautiful.... brought tears to my eyes wow.

  • Why isn't Steve Irwin in the video?

Anyways, nice tribute to both Steves of Apple.

  • I love it it really touches the heart

  • aiuto! ho bisogno della musica!! chi è che ha scritto la musica? MUSIC!!!

  • Pirates of Silicon Valley!!

Thank you Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak!!

  • <3 that movie

  • Nice tribute to Steve and Woz at the end!

  • Em where is Tom Green? He should be featured.

  • Micheal Moore for president!! LOL

  • that was nice

not as good as the original

but still good for todays society

  • beatiful man!!

  • Hey was that Alton Brown? lol

  • I love Leo's bit its so funny

  • What the hell? This is apple? I like how they just threw that in.....

  • Darren Brown should be the only one in that video. Over and over and over...

  • Xerox invented the GUI, not the mouse. Also, true Xerox did do a lot, their idea was incomplete. Apple fixed so many holes in it and made the GUI actually usable.

  • Not good inventing stuff if you haven't a clue how to market them.

  • Oh yeah, why bother with that whole intellectual rights stuff.

  • It's not stealing if they let you have it. Besides it was useless if Xerox couldn't no anything with it. But look what apple did with, they revolutionized computing to a GUI standard and allowed for a home computer that anyone can use.

  • If you remember history outside of Apple you would remember that Xerox did sue Apple over this. Xerox revolutionized GUI, Apple marketed it better. Just like Ipods and Iphones. Nothing revolutionary about them (a simplified interface is NOT revolutionary) except that Jobs makes you think they are the coolestest gadgets evar and you must have them!

  • It sounds like xerox lost then since apple is still using it, and hence apple would be right in them using the technology.

  • Great Vid!

  • lonelygirl15 ruined it for me. 1 star!

  • Who cares. She's hot.

  • What I think is funny is how all Mac users believe they're "thinking different" with their Apple decals on their cars and their smug feelings of superiority...but they're all the same. It's group-think. I find Apple fanboys to be incredibly annoying because they all believe that they are unique and special and changing the world...because the Apple marketing team convinced them - en masse - that they were.

  • Note: This can go for anything and not just Macs; nice thought-provoking comment. It sounds like you took Nader's Controlling Processes course at Cal. Go bears.

  • I'd have a good article for you, but I went back to Windows, after trying to see what the big deal about Mac was (and not finding it), the other day and don't have it bookmarked anymore.

  • @bandergrove way to generalize and assume things about millions of people you don't know.

If I were like you I could talk about how PC users, that every PC user hates Mac users and think they're superior to Mac users. And all PC users think they're so fucking smart talking about how smug they think Macheads are. I find them incredibly annoying because they all believe they're smart and ballsy and right, even if they clearly don't have any evidence of a god damn thing.

    Who gives a shit anyways.

  • @OGDaniel1 Jeez dude, he talks about mac users thinking their superior than everyone else, and then you go and prove it by replying with that! This really proves that people are idiots.

  • @OGDaniel1 Well I'm a PC user, but only because I can do whatever a Mac can do with a low-end machine that costs less than a Mac. I don't like the policy Mac has on software development in some aspects. I think one of the greatest things Microsoft has done is to give more value to the developer than the end user.

  • @aiklarung huh? Macs have this great developer community full of talented people making awesome apps, PCs have some good apps but lots of crappy ones. Apple doesn't restrict apps at all on the mac, only iOS. Microsoft and Apple both make tools for developers (Apple lets anyone who claims they're a developer and has a iTunes ID have the xcode software free, Microsoft has a limited version of visual studio free.) I prefer osx, its better in many ways but if you want to game pcs are better.

  • @thatapplegeek XCode has a much worse developer experience than Visual Studio, and besides, free versions of Visual Studio are already quite powerful (most of the features of pro versions are for teams). Also, what's best, Objective C or C#? (I know C# can run on mono but that's not thanks to apple). Even more: if Apple really cared they could port Wine to their OS and call it something posh like "Champagne". It's not like they wouldn't fork open source and call it theirs (BSD, KHTML...).

  • @bandergrove Instantly stop using this description for every Mac user, please!

  • @bandergrove hater

  • @bandergrove but can you at least admit how great this ad is?

  • What was Derren Brown Doing in that video?

  • Nice to see Alton Brown in there. He's a Mac guy from way-back.

  • I love how Apple fanboys compare and equate people like Stephen Hawking to Jobs and Woz.

  • I don't mind the comparison to Woz. Even thought he is no were near Stephen Hawking. But Jobs is just an sad he is nothing more them someone with good business sense who can brain wash people into becoming fan boys.

  • A lot them do use a mac.

The guy who played Napoleon Dynamite does.

South Park is animated on a Mac.

Most musicians do, idk about her.

    Adam Savage does

    As does Alton Brown

Don't know about the chick in the hat...

    Jon does.

I'm not 100% on Michael Moore, but I bet he does too.

  • I can see Colbert using a mac, but he's another I'm not too sure on.

...Everyone knows you can only generate a computer-woman with a Mac haha, j/k. (Weird Science)

There are at least a lot of Mac users. But, I still think that the ad isn't about "Look at me, I use a mac, and I'm good."

But rather, "LIKE mac users, I too think differently, and I'm damn good."

  • actually he's used a macbook on the show, i think it was black

  • oh sweet, there is Leo

  • Leo Laporte! I'm a big fan of his but I think he shouldn't be included as the "crazy one" or in Apple ad for that matter. He's a consumer just the rest of us. I like how Hawkins was added in. It would've been funny if Al Gore was portrayed the crazy one. Overall nice video!

  • LEO LAPORTE :(((( COME BACK

  • Xerox was the first private company to make use of a GUI. Although it was Doug Englebart -- at the time an employee of Stanford Research Institute who developed the first GUI. But nice try

  • Good quality video. Well done. I dunno how many of those people are mac users, but well done nonetheless.

Constructive criticism: To improve the persuasive nature of the video, you might want to try using only famous people who have declared how much they like/use apple (I don't think Stephen Hawking is solving the mysteries of the universe on a Macbook Pro...). If all these celebrities do, then never mind, but if they don't, you might want to think about that.

  • Personally I liked the inclusion of people like Hawking, it fits well with the dialogue of pushing the human race forward. You do bring up some valid criticism though, since it seems less like an apple advert than social commentary, which makes the end jar a little.

Still, very nice video, and personally I like the choices of people you've included in it, most of them do carry the message across well

  • I don't see how that would help.

I think Apple is trying to show that people who think differently, are the people who change the world. The people who don't follow the social norms, will always be the ones who are making the world a better place.

Just like, little old you. You use a mac, you think differently. You are on the same level as everyone else in the video.

I doubt they were concentrating on who uses a mac.

  • Continued...

I can see Colbert using a mac, but he's another I'm not too sure on.

...Everyone knows you can only generate a computer-woman with a Mac haha, j/k. (Weird Science)

There are at least a lot of Mac users. But, I still think that the ad isn't about "Look at me, I use a mac, and I'm good."

But rather, "LIKE mac users, I too think differently, and I'm damn good."

  • I guess that makes sense. Still, I suppose it all depends on what they were going for. A more general thing, or on how REAL innovators use apple. I don't know.

  • it was awesome till Wozniack and Jobs showed up.

  • People who think differently, (e.g. iPhone unlockers) get shutdown.

  • you're a douchebag. apple is releasing an SDK in february. not only that, but it was people UNLOCKING their phones that breached a contract.

  • you think the SDK will allow root access do you? You think they will allow a voip client to be developed through the SDK? Get a grip. Woz's background was in computer hacking clubs which is where he got alot of his computing experience. Opened up a closed system and made it better. So yes, here is to the crazy ones that are not told what to do. Just like iphone developers that didnt wait for apples permission...

  • i agree with you, dude. but, do any other cell phone companies' sdks allow root access or a voip clients? if so, i'd love to hear about it.

  • This video is about people that think outside the box, then implies its apple that does this. Maybe apple was created from the seed of this mentality, but now they are against certain types of development on their phone. They are defiantly inside the box on that issue

  • Microsoft changed the world a lot more than Apple.

  • You shouldn't have ended it with the Apple logo, heh -- it kind of took away all the emotion that you had spent that whole time building up beforehand. Good message, nonetheless.

  • And end up as a brand label...

Apple may have changed the world, but the world hasn't rewarded them. Kinda makes you think, eh?

  • think different.. buy from our company.

Invoking our heroes to sell a product isn't cool.

  • yeah, that's right.

    All these people use Apple?

  • It's more of an ad for steve jobs then one for apple itself... (hence the ending with an old photo of Jobs before the logo)...

Basically, it's trying to remind people that the dude started basically from nothing in creating Apple.

  • this isn't an apple commercial. have you seen the original?

  • Elaine Hawking?

  • It's very nice.

  • Yeah. They could've included Einstein and Mahathma Gandhi.

  • If apple didn't do it, some one else would have.

  • Yeah but they wouldn't have done it anywhere near as well!

  • Bell Labs around the 1960's was working on fiber cable as a means to transmit information over the lines as a means of faster phones, while they did not know at the time that would sent pace the World Wide Web. Hp was also doing similar research, the United States

  • You don't get it, I'm not talking about Apple Inc. I like them. I'm talking about dub as the people in it. I'm well aware of what Apple has done to computers. Also apple did not make the world Wide Web, that was done by Hp, IBM, Bell Labs, US Military.

  • I thought this was a mickey take but seems it's for real. Er, ha ha...

  • Mr.Hawking's was the only one worth the add, the rest has change nothing.

  • cumon!!! woz and jobs play a major role in todays world of computers!!!

  • Who is the girl with the hat?

  • There only seems to be Americans on this vid..

  • Derrick brown is British.

  • Derren Brown is British, duno who the hell Derrick Brown is.

  • Stephen Hawkings was in that video, and he was a native to England.

  • Arianna Huffington is Greek.

  • Leo Laporte? Why?

  • Well, I'm glad Leo is in there... I see your point though, Leo has hardly revelutionized anything by himself - but he's clearly a great influence in the online media world...

And if you see how the media landscape has changed over the last couple of years, with podcasting and so on, THAT is a revolution. And what better representation of that revolution than Leo Laporte?

  • Nice idea, and nice ending, but Michael Moore and Arianna Huffington?

  • I also didn't identify w/all of the people you chose but I applaud you for doing it. Very well executed. The end was the exact same end I literally just wrote in a comment I posted on the original 1997 clip. They should re-air the original but close it exactly the way you closed YOUR version. Only the modern logo treatment w/no slogans or any other distractions. Any slogan old or new is contrived compared to the power and meaning imbued in the Apple logo.

  • I loved!

  • Again, like above I don't agree with all of the choices. But some of them are lovely. Particularly, that panning around Hawking looked like a real advertising campaign. Nice one.

  • Michael Moore tainted that. I get it though.

  • Pretty good. I dunno that I agree with all your choices of people...but maybe that's the point? Man, I really would love them to revive that marketing campaign though.

  • Yeah, I thought it was a great campaign too. I wanted to make a version that had a bit of a lighter side to it that included various pop icons. Thanks for the feedback.

  • twas cool cept for the mac symbol ;)

  • Haha!! Thanks :)

  • Nice job!

  • Thanks!
