  • Ouch!

    Ron

  • Torture!

  • Scotty Moore"the rocka-billy king"uses this guitar exclusively, and has for years.Your negative remarks are annoying...

  • Good job! I was thinking about buying one of these but I really wanted to see if it could break up and get dirty. Heading down to the store today.

  • Very nice work bruz!!

    !_!

  • Great Guitar and great sound

  • Oh, I can relate to fellow gearslut (Priority mail "pedalbox" on the floor).. hehe

  • Am I mistaken or is the 'Chet Atkins Country Gentleman' manufactured only by Gretsch, not Gibson.

  • It's manufactured by Gretsch now, but back then they were made by Gibson.

If you had Googled this you would have found out on your own....

  • Wow! Take it easy Sparky. Go back and read my comment - I began with 'Am I mistaken or...'

  • You wouldn't have been mistaken if you had done 10 seconds of your own research.

  • hahaha burn!

  • Gibson made them for Chet for only a very short time before Chet switched back over to Gretsch. I own a Gibson CG myself.

  • Chet DIDN'T switch back to Gretsch; they obtained the rights to use Chet's name again after Chet's death!

Hey, Pickles, grow up. There's no need to be arrogant. You could have found some manners if YOU had Googled long enough. Besides, we're sure you know ALL ABOUT Gretsch and Gibson...(NOT!)

  • @gitrpicker Gibson bought out Gretsch for a short while. Up until around 90 or 91 i believe. And gretsch bought the company back...which fender now owns but the name is the same. He DID switch back. Chet didn't die until 2001 i think. So yes he did start back playing gretsch guitars. In an interview a reporter asked Chet why he went with the gibson when the gretsch obviously had better tone and was by far a more superior guitar. Chet said "Well we don't have to tell anybody".

  • @Anarchist13579 @Anarchist13579 Gibson didn't buy out Gretsch. Baldwin did. Then the company went out of business totally in the 80's. Chet switched to Gibson and he stayed there until he died. For him a deal was a deal. Gibson still had the authorization to make Guitars with Chet's name on them until 2007. It was only recently that the Atkins Estate pulled the authorization and returned to Gretsch. And it wasn't an interview in which he said that. He said it to his sideman Paul Yandell.

  • Yeah too hip gotta go!

    Rock on!

Mine is from 1987 still with the removeable handle and the switch on the lower treble bout.

I love it. Never gonna sell it!

    Good playing!

  • Wrong music on chet's guitar!

  • Yeah, who in their right mind would do Travis Picking on a Chet Atkins guitar, or blues on a semi hollowbody?!?

  • @HellbilliesDrag wrong. A good player can play any music on any guitar.

  • I posted this guitar up for sale on eBay this past weekend. If you're interested, go to eBay and do a search on Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman.

  • Heh heh -- kind of ironic that Anarchist No. 13579 is laying down the law about what Flah is allowed to play on his guitar.

Great playing & great tone, Flah!

  • Thanks bruddah Shea.

  • Ironic???

He's got horrible tone and he picks at the guitar so hard that the strings comes through more than the effect.

Not what the country gentlman was designed for.

I'm not laying down the law. lol. Just stating the obvious my friend.

Of course i don't expect him to be as great as chet, much less anybody else, but at least respect the musicality of the man. If you want to do rockabilly then get a guitar that is suited for the style of music.

  • Do you know Lola by the Kinks?

  • Not personally.

  • Don't let anyone tell you what to play, flah! Now, play some Sol Hoopi, dammit!!!!

  • Thanks bruddah.

  • Hey, I like it! The mellow stuff at the end shows a lot of soul.

  • Thanks brah.

  • what do you think about to use a gretsch?

the gibson country gentleman is perfect for chet atkins songs, not for stray cats... ;-)

  • Seems like you guys either forget or don't realize that the Gretsch 6120 (THE rockabilly standard) is also called a Chet Atkins.

  • guitar looks soooooooo nice

  • Hey, just because the guitar says "Chet Atkins" doesn't mean flahprius has to use the same exact style as Chet. I think he got a pretty happening psychobilly thing going there.

  • It's not made for playing guitar on? Who says you can't play one rough like flahprius?

  • Why...... club349, that's who! Duh!
