I agree with you, I think in the book Coraline could've had a friend to help her, I think Neil should've gave Coraline a friend. Plus, in the book, Coraline looks way different. She looks 13..not 11.
@waffle668 Half the reason she wanted a better world was because she was lonely in the book. The only reason Wybie was added because in the book we can see the story through Coralines eyes, whereas in the movie we couldn't, so a person she could relate was nessessary.
I wish I wouldn've seen this around age seven. I love it now at fourteen, oddly enough, but I would've fallen in love with it if I were still a little kid. I loved freaky movies :)
The book had some frightening elements to it, but I think it could have been more descriptive. I would be reading, just reading, and all of a sudden I would have no clue where I was at.
@GirBFF123 wybie's last name is mentioned in the book. they say mr. lovat. and that struck me when wybie said his last name for the first time in the movie. look closely at the book his name is there
@GirBFF123 In the book, you can kinda see Coraline's thoughts, so therefore she doesn't really have to say them out loud for the reader to understand, instead, she can just think inside her head. In movies, you usually can't hear peoples' thoughts, therefore, they needed to add Wybie so she could say her thoughts without talking to herself. Wybie wasn't needed in the book because you could see what Coraline was thinking.
wybie's face around 2:10 is quite freaky and a bit derpy. :p
