all guns on set have a real bullet in them a blank is a bullet with out gun powder the round broke and shrappnel was in the chamber which was thrown out when they fired the gun again killing branden

Problem is, that previously the movie producers were forced to build makeshift dummy rounds (for display purposes) out of live rounds from which they removed the powder and replaced the bullet. Problem is, that the primers were left intact in those makeshift dummy rounds.

@TheXxSuicidegirlxX Apparently someone shot one of these dummy rounds setting off the primer and giving enough speed and energy for the bullet to leave the shell and the cylinder, and get lodged in the barrel. Afterwards the gun was loaded with standard blanks, and when a blank was shot at Brandon, it pushed the previously lodged bullet from the barrel into the air, and straight at Brandon.

Making dummy rounds from live rounds, leaving the gun unattended and not checking the bore were severe cases of oversight from the movie's gun specialist, but you can hardly speak of a curse.

actually they didnt have any reason to check the gun most people think that there was a real bullet in the gun but the truth is that all guns on set have real bullets in them its just that a blank doesnt have any gun powder in them to cause them to fire.. what happened was a gragment broke off in the chamber and when they fired a second shot it dislodged the fragment which lodged into brandens spine killing him

A blank is a cartridge that contains gunpowder but no bullet or shot. How can a gun fire without gunpowder? No boom no fire? Blank has either no bullet on it or its wooden. Without the flash there is no point in them for movies.. Blanks are used in training or signalling. Or in this case for movie effect.

A blank = a cartridge with no "head" (the part that flies out n kills stuffs). there is gun powder, but there is nothing to be expelled, as long as the cartridge doesnt brake. it did. the broken off part hit brandon. he died. a major loss to martial artists and actors all over the world
