The military casualty rate: Germany vs. Soviet 1: 3,5 if we use Soviet official numbers, but 1:4 or 1:5 if we use critical objective sources.

As we remember the population rate between Greater Germany and Soviet was 1:2 it's relatively easily to realize (if you are mentally ready for it) that without western aid and western military forces Soviet would have lost that war. That's it.

The number of German soldiers missing peaked in July and then began to diminish. In August 39 456 germans were killed. In December 14 949. Nor did the figure rise in January 1942.

The number of German soldiers missing in action peaked in July 1941 and then began to diminish: by November it was half of what it had been in summer and was in any event extremely small, only 34547 men for the whole of 1941. Killed in action peak was in August 41 and then began to diminish. In fact , compared to September or August there was a notable lull in December.
Soviet mythology is claiming accelerating fighting in Dec 41-Jan 42. Statistics tells a different story. :)

The Russians were sitting as "peacekeeping" forces in Georgia. They trained their forces for an offensive in Georgia, and when all was ready, had their peacekeeping forces, mortar Georgia from within Georgia. Then when a few Georgians tried to get in to take picture of this, to reveal Russian perfidity, the Russians attacked. The good news is that the Georgian air force was able to kill the Russian force commander. Next time it will be a harder to recruit a Russian commander for invasion.

The Americans did nothing after Normandy. They managed to liberate France which was occupied by German boy scouts. The real German armies were fighting in the East and were trying to protect the Third Reich from Soviet invasion.
The American and British plans to liberate the low countries failed. Look at Operation Market Garden. Inexperienced German troops, low on supplies and equipment managed to defeat the Americans and Brits.
The Western Front in WWII is an overrated political tool.
There was a Dec 1944-Jan 1945 offensive in the Ardennes that denuded the Easten Front. The Western Allies ended up far into the pre-agreed Soviet occupation zone before linkup, not to mention into Czechoslovakia and Austria.
Link ups are tough. US army and US Marines suffered casualties when they linked up after cutting up the North Koreans from Pusan to Seoul. It was fortunate and showed good discipline that the US and Soviet forces didn't report (as far as that I have read) any casualties from their linkup. Of course the fighting tempo had slowed by then.

The Russian war industry managed to start producing massive quantities of tanks, artillery, planes, and all that was needed. In 1941 the number of convictions fell to 1 769 082, but the number of prison sentences doubled; moreover, after the war began there was a new decree in addition to the earlier ones, and that resulted in additional convictions. Consequently in 1942, the first full year of the war, the number of convictions for shirking, 1 692 859, was the same as the prewar rate.
As we see there were much lack of enthusiasm among so called "soviet citizens".

No. These current official Soviet figures are about 27 million dead. Over 20 million were men. Women at age of 20-34 lost was over 10%, but 3% of those at the age of 15-19 or over 35. It's interesting. How many of them (20-34) died in military?
It's also interesting to notice that Soviet need soldiers of age 16-53 for frontline duty while Germany and their brothers in arms needed "only" 18-43. So amazingly old men, teenagers and women. Lack of soldiers?

By early 1942, Stalin's security service had detained 638 112 soldiers, detainment being a euphemism for imprisonment without the formality of any charge; out of that number 82 865 were arrested.

The military casualty rate: Germany vs. Soviet 1: 3,5 if we use Soviet official numbers, but 1:4 or 1:5 if we use critical objective sources.
And then military casualty rate: Germany vs. western allies 5:4.
As we remember the population rate between Greater Germany and Soviet was 1:2 it's relatively easily to realize (if you are mentally ready for it) that without western aid and western military forces Soviet would have lost that war. That's it.

Really? So try to solve this puzzle. German casualty records, like their records of prisoners taken, suggest that the fighting, rather than intensifying, was winding down in late 1941 and early 1942. The number of German soldiers missing peaked in July and then began to diminish. In August 39 456 germans were killed. In December 14 949. Nor did the figure rise in January 1942.
Looks like "horrible winter" as turnpoint is another Great Patriotic War myth. Boy, you lost again.

The number of German soldiers missing in action peaked in July 1941 and then began to diminish: by November it was half of what it had been in summer and was in any event extremely small, only 34547 men for the whole of 1941. Killed in action peak was in August 41 and then began to diminish. In fact , compared to September or August there was a notable lull in December.
Soviet mythology is claiming accelerating fighting in Dec 41-Jan 42. Statistics tells a different story. :)

tanzan02 That's funny the day the US joined in the War the Germans were in the process of being pushed to well over 100 miles from Moscow and we had more troops and tanks heading West from Siberia after it was confirmed that Japan was not going to fight us. Besides the US spent more resources and forces fighting Japan than the Germans. France and the UK divided up their forces for that we sent everything we had against the Germans so do not insult the 30 million who died by saying stupid things.

What most communists do not know is that stalin was not only a paranoid communist but a very highly repressed homosexual whose subtle advances towards Zhukov were occasionally rebuffed. Zhukov found his pockmarked ass quite repulsive but, allegedly, he took SoSo to the dark side when he considered the consequences of insubordination. The one who was always laughing loudest when somebody said the russians just won because of allied suports, was my grandfather who was german soldier on the eastern front. The best ally the soviet had, he said, was in fact the german command. Funny because ike eisenhower said the same.

The Russians were sitting as "peacekeeping" forces in Georgia. They trained their forces for an offensive in Georgia, and when all was ready, had their peacekeeping forces, mortar Georgia from within Georgia. Then when a few Georgians tried to get in to take picture of this, to reveal Russian perfidity, the Russians attacked. The good news is that the Georgian air force was able to kill the Russian force commander. Next time it will be a harder to recruit a Russian commander for invasion.

The Americans did nothing after Normandy. They managed to liberate France which was occupied by German boy scouts. The real German armies were fighting in the East and were trying to protect the Third Reich from Soviet invasion.
The American and British plans to liberate the low countries failed. Look at Operation Market Garden. Inexperienced German troops, low on supplies and equipment managed to defeat the Americans and Brits.
The Western Front in WWII is an overrated political tool.

There was a Dec 1944-Jan 1945 offensive in the Ardennes that denuded the Easten Front. The Western Allies ended up far into the pre-agreed Soviet occupation zone before linkup, not to mention into Czechoslovakia and Austria.
And Zukhov came in second in the race for Berlin.

Link ups are tough. US army and US Marines suffered casualties when they linked up after cutting up the North Koreans from Pusan to Seoul. It was fortunate and showed good discipline that the US and Soviet forces didn't report (as far as that I have read) any casualties from their linkup. Of course the fighting tempo had slowed by then.

That isn't even considering the fact that most of the US attention was focused on the Pacific, against Japan.
