  • 武藝圖譜通志Muye Dobo Tongji (1790) : Comprehensive Illustrated Manual of Martial Arts in Korea .

【It is the official document at Korean Dynasty, written by The Korean King order in the 18th century】

    國練兵之制三軍練于郊,衛士練于禁苑,其禁苑練兵盛自 光廟朝,然止弓矢一技而已如槍劍法技,既未之聞焉,

“Archery was the only martial art that had been practiced by Korean soldiers. They have no skills of sword or spear fighting”

  • 朝鮮王朝實録:The Annals of the choson Dynasty (The True Record of the Korean Dynasty)…

    【June 11, 1480】矧惟國人, 不慣槍劍, 專業弓矢, 爲禦敵之備

The people were not accustomed to use of sword or spear, defended from enemies only by archery...

    【October 13, 1592】上敎政院曰“我國絶無劒手”

The king said “There was no swordman in our country at all”...

    【July 11, 1594】我國自古劍術不傳

There has not been descendent any swordplay from ancient time in our country...

  • The samurai did not exist in the history of the Korean Peninsula.

As for the times when a Korean places a sword in a waist and existed like a samurai in a hakama, there is not it.

A Korean opens the dojo studio, and neither the times when I trained nor the place nor the document nor the record has mind and body.

In 李氏朝鮮 Korea of 500 years, the background of the existence of the samurai does not have the method of the life, too either.

  • Why so much hate in the comments ! I am doing Haidong Gumdo from only 1 year. That means I know more or less nothing. But there is one thing our master has teach us : respect and humility. Never offense an other martial arts !

  • watch?v=hG6tqGGZW8Y

    watch?v=iFBo-Zs_Dp8

  • When Japanese culture is accepted in the world, the Korean wants it.

    A child

I turn and why am a kung fu movie?

Do these people think that martial arts are dramas?

Such a useless movement is not martial arts.

Impurity do not hold traditional culture in Japan!

Is a sword a dangerous thing?

It is not a thing living on play.

An injured person appears sometime when I do such a how to swing.

According to a Japanese, I am seen only in the play of the amateur.

  • pls never swing Katana like cheerleading.....fake Korean style....

    おかしいと気づかないのかな。

  • Nice job with combinding them soon i'll have to that XD haha. But Well done Sir ^_^

  • WHat sword form is this?

  • @Narurenji It is an improvised combination of some haedong kumdo forms.

  • @Narurenji

this is fake sword fught action in Japanese samurai movie .

haidon gumudo uniform and sword is japanese tradhitional item.

but they insist that it is korean traditional martial arts to continue to date from Kokuryo Era.

  • Good samurai sword

  • This goes totally against the principles of Iaido. Iaido rules!

  • Amazing demonstration!!!

  • thouse shouts are weird sometimes :P

  • marz - BULLSHIT! Haedong kumdo was a medieval art during the gorgoreyo period in ancient korea with its inheritance from chinese mongolian influences. It was a korean style at first till the japs came on their boats and sabotaged it like the 70's but with cars! and then went off in their bushido shit and formed their own style. know that the japanese annexation tried to get rid of korean history and then introduced kendo in the 80's. the japanese style was more of a cameo! WIKIPEDIA BITCH :D!

  • @jasonlee0290 Did he reply to you? probably not cause 'he just a butt-monkey'

  • @jasonlee0290 ok you just destroyed any credit you had sir, User edtied Wikipedia bitch.

  • Good form, footing is accurate but what the hell was that move at :43 LMAO! I don't mean any offense but maybe thats still a valid move I don't know lol

  • ur kihap needs some work.

0:21 (not bad. I'd say this was ur best in this vid, tho that's not saying much)

    0:27 - 0:28 (weak)

    0:43 (okay)

0:46 (about as good as 0:21)

0:50 - 0:51 (no offense, but it was pathetic)

1:00 (not bad, but not very good)

Of course, seeing as this was over 10 months ago, I hope that you've improved. I think u just need to show some more spirit.

  • lol the weird windmill thingy is.....weird

  • I'm no care you learn any kind of martial arts.

However, this( Haedong kumdo, gumdo, gumbo)is vicious plagiarism tampering with the history of the kendo. I wish you make a wise decision.

  • Oh dear god, this again? Kumdo isn't plagiarism. Japan took over korea for half a century and tried to wipe out all korean martial arts and replace them with japanese ones. Of course korean martial arts are going to have some striking resemblance to japanese ones.

  • Wow, cool good way of knowledge that will help me with backing up haidong gumdo.

  • Comment removed

  • @marz12aug Shut up! Before you reply....make sure you have documentation to back it up if not Shut Up!

  • interesting, a few times there he looks like he's gonna cut into his lead knee as he cuts down (in japanese swordsmanship kesagiri) diagonally

  • This is a nice vid. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to tie some form movements together. It's a very good form of practising your technique. Nice!

  • viadagem

    gays do kralho

  • nice work ! keep training !

  • I like the video

    @alexansell

The video is called "Haedong kumdo free sword forms" so, whats your problem?

Are you jealous 'cause your forms don't even nearly look that nice?

  • If you want to learn the sword, Study Iaido rather than making forms up! just A suggestion.

  • @alexansell What's Iaido like?

  • Would you need a Idoio sword for this?

  • This is not a real kumbup, I'm mostly just improvising here, taking bits of kumbups here and there.
