Bill Challis did the arrangement on this recording. Unfortunately the Goldkette band didn't record some some of Challis hotter arrangements like Blue Room and Milenberg Joys. On my page I have a recording from a radio show from 1938 called Design for Dancing. This show featured a top name arranger. I have a recording of the show when Bill Challis was the guest arranger, The band plays Challis arrangement of Milenberg Joys. I wonder if this is the same arrangement he did for the Goldkette band?
Extraordinary arrangement and performance! The vocalist sounds not at all like Bessinger though, who is a bass/baritone. Not exactly what I hear on this one.
Interesting to note that Venuti and Lang never toured with the band. Goldkette only used them on recording sessions. Too bad this band never recorded the great hot arrangements they used to play regularly, sort of a reverse discrimination.
¡Deliciosa!

The world IS a strange place;) What I find even more strange is how there can be someone who doesn't like this.

A lot of the period bands could play well but not always good material and interesting arrangement. This one has a high success rate.

Those cloned ladies at 0'56 are a riot. I like how they slowly give way to "more relaxed" poses.

And a fine Frank Trumbauer on sax near the end of the tune. Bix in the trumpet section didn´t solo. Nice record!

Nice and jaunty. I hope the Philistines are not upon us again about these lovely "risque" illustrations.
