This scene was my favorite in all of the series. But I disliked how the ending was a bit cliche. I think it would have ended in a better way if Zuko was the one to defeat Azula, instead of Katara defeating her.

@Floppygirl I think the writers felt it was necessity for Katara to have a part in the final battle, not really appeal to the fans. Though I do agree, I felt it was Zuko's battle against the sister who tormented him and was apathetic about Ursa. Especially when you highlight that Zuko is Azula's foil, the boy who grew up in corruptable circumstances and Azula basically embraced corruptable circumstances and made herself into a sick monster.

@LegoGuys538 She has blue fire because her technique and control is alot stronger than any other fire benders, so she produces blue fire which is hotter, only her and her father can perform this action. Same with the lightning technique, but you have to be born with that skill you cant learn it, that's why irho and zuko couldent produce it they could only redirect it. Only like 0.01% are able to bend blue fire and lightning.

@DevineRivondair No, both blue fire and lightning can be done by anyone, but both require extremely cool heads to use, especially lightning. Zuko is too hot-headed, and Iroh CAN use lightning, he created the lighning redirection technique because even if you can use lightning, you can't survive being hit by it.

Anyone who used Lightning against Aang or Zuko was basically comitting suicide. Zuko could have reflected and killed Ozai if he wanted to, but didnt. Aang could have killed Ozai during his fight the same way, but didnt. And Zuko was ABOUT to kill Azula with her own lighting too, but she got lucky and didn't shoot at him.

The "humble guide" thing pertained to the technique for redirecting lightning, not using it. Bending is part physical and part spiritual. The lightning itself is anger and hate because you can't control what it does after you unleash it which is the exact opposite of what firebending should be: Purpose and determination tempered with discipline.

If it was powered by anger, then I doubt Zuko would've had any trouble! Not to mention, he only brought up redirecting lightning after it was determined Zuko was incapable of generating his own. Iroh seemed to do it to cheer him up.

@universal806 The reason is probably because with Aang and Ozai, it's a "I chase you, you chase me" sorta thing, with Zuko and Azula, they never ran away from each other, they sat and duked it out. Also, Zuko does the most heroic thing someone can do, lay down there life for someone else. And when he does it, there's a split second where you think that Zuko might actually die. If he died, the whole plotline wouldn't be blown away. If Aang lost/died, it really would've.

One of the best parts about Zuko's fighting in this scene is that it shows he took Iroh's advice about modifying his own bending in response to other elements. A lot of his defensive moves look like the other three elements, only with fire.

when i watch this,so many thoughts go through my mind.1-zuko's finally seen the light,though it took him a while he's no longer his father's property.he's zuko and he now knows that he's worth something.2-as for azula,she now realizes everything that she's done wasn't worth it,her father still considers her to be 2nd best.&maybe he always has.but there's nobody there,no friends no family no nothing for her to lean on.she's fighting to keep some hope but it's ALL GONE and this fight proves it.sad
