  • He is amazing) i`m from Russia and i should love Plushenko more, but let`s be honest: this program is much better than the one Evgeni has now. Plushenko is really booring someties and too pathetical, besides he is less emotinal and plastic. same time Patrick looks less confident in his jumps than Plushenko. OG 2012 are going to be interesting, but i can say that deep inside i will support Patrick more, cause FS is more about soul than just jumping.

  • девчачья программа,,девчонки сложнее прыжки делают...

  • THE BEST. I love him forever <3

  • I can't believe the Canadians gave this guy the Canadian Athlete of the Year Award. This guy complained about how he wasn't appreciated by Canada and threatened to compete for China then what does Canada do? They give him the award? C'mon my good friends to the north, you guys have tons and tons of gifted athletes in just about every sport, you could do better than a whiney figure skater. I guarentee if he was American and he pulled that shit, we'd laugh in his face and tell him to go to China.

  • Patrick's skating is absolutely amazing. His jumps and artistry are top notch!

  • NO ONE has better edges than him :)

  • He is always over scored by the judges. I don't get it.

  • @texasguy377 How was this over scored?

  • @skuzinsk Overscored = given a higher score than the performance deserved.

  • @texasguy377 I didn't say "what does over scored mean?" I was asking, honestly, what you saw in it that was scored too high--a specific element or program component that was scored unjustifiably higher for Chan relative to another skater. Maybe he has been generously treated at his own nationals or at some Grand Prix assignments (Skate Canada comes to mind), but who hasn't?

  • Ok, I don't quite get it. His parents are chinese, originally from Hong Kong and China. But he doesn't have that typical chinese look that we would associate with. Initially, I thought maybe his mother is a caucasian, because he looks eurasian to me. Maybe somewhere along that ancient lineage lies some european blood? Either that or one of his parents is an eurasian.

  • @ymhktravel You're right, you don't get it. There are plenty of Asian people who don't conform to the way people like you think they're "supposed" to look, and they're 100% Asian. They're not mixed with Europeans just because you can't wrap your head around the fact that Asians don't all look the same. Get over your stupid stereotypes of what Asian people are supposed to like and maybe you'll learn something.

As for the skating, beautiful stuff from Patrick as always.

  • @zaitesushion Interesting comment. Where did I say anything about his looks?

  • @texasguy377 In your own words: "He doesn't have that typical chinese look."

  • @zaitesushion You must be reading someone else's comments. I never made that statement.

  • @texasguy377 O_o Did you not see the "@ymhktravel" in my initial comment? My initial comment was not a response to any one of your comments.

  • @zaitesushion Oh I see. My comments were strictly about his skating. Nothing to do with his looks.

  • @ymhktravel You haven't seen many Chinese people then. Plenty of Chinese look like him.

  • He is so good! Certainly, my heart belongs to Plushenko and Gachinski, becauce they're figure skaters from my country,but...! He is realy, realy great! Technical, artistic, charismatic! One of the best!

  • huge fan!

  • Pity he feels that Canada isn't appreciative of his talents as China is.

If he feels this way, why not ask Mommy and Daddy to take him back and then he'll find out the real difference. Seems this guy isn't in the real world .

Or is it that he is just immature.

  • @zoot3zz STop your crap comments. What is wrong with his comments about China? Can anyone say good thing about China? He doesn't have to anywhere. He can stay where he wants to be. I am sure he has more freedom than you do. So stop whining.

  • @zoot3zz i don't think that's true... Canada has MUCH respect for Patrick and all the other Asian Canadian Skators. There is only a few ungrateful rude comments but hey, those racist ppl are pissed at everything. And from what i heard his parents are forcing him to skate for China.

  • @zoot3zz shut up and go home do homework

  • PATRICK CHAN IS A BOSS. for someone so young to have such respect and class in the harsh world of figure skating, all the credit and kudos to him. KEEP SKATING PATRICK, YOU MAKE CANADA PROUD!

  • The ugliest figure skater ever. He looks like he has a mental disease. Just creepy.

  • @Tihbialduna Trololol

  • so difficult cause its in 5/4 time!

  • @ChampionChompy I would think that 5/4 should be easier to skate to than 3/4... seems an easier tempo to move in... two extra beats to change positions... but I'm not a skater, so what do I know... except that this guy Patrick Chan makes me happy when I see him skate... he almost never looks tense which is nice... oh, and I'm not Canadian but for some reason I truly love to see those Canadians do well...

    Anyway, go Patrick! :)

  • Loved the skating......the music ...not so much. My favorite is Daisuke Takahashi........Mama Mia, he's one hot tamale!

  • unlike many other male figure skaters, he has art in his program :)

  • I would love to see him doing pairs with Yuna Kim =D

  • I don't think I've ever seen someone make such a hard program look SO easy - ever. Unreal.

  • Wow it's amazing how men figure skating :O!! So much speed and so smooth!! Awsome job!!~

  • I read that Patrick wants to improve his artistic and performance abilities. i applaude that goal because I agree with his assessment. However, I don't see how keeping the same program and choreographer year after year is challenging himeself. As much as I love this program it's not good enough to repeat. He's the World Champ and as a fan I expect more from him. I would like for him to take dance classes including hip-hop to improve his musicality and also try a new choreographer.

  • Thanks man! MB loves ya

  • Congratulations! U've made us proud! Best wishes in everthing!

  • Is there something wrong with his eyes?

  • @tdsmth391 he's chinese :D

  • @VanMedia

    I know he's chinese but from close-up, I noticed something's not right.

  • @VanMedia He's Canadian !!!!

  • @tdsmth391 I've noticed that too. I think he has a slight cross eye in his left eye.

  • @criminaljournalism

A good observation! That's what I thought. I still like him.

  • I think it's because he has that deer-in-the-headlights look. He's always opening his eyes unnaturally wide, like he's permanently surprised or had bad eyelid surgery. It's a biit distracting when you see him in interviews.

  • great performance annoying broadcast. why does the music sound canned? like it was added afterwards. why don't the broadcasters just play it like the crowd hears it? we know its not going to be as loud but at least it would feel real. Chan 10 Broadcasters -3

  • Perfection ;)

  • Female best skater: YUNA KIM

    Male best skater: PATRICK CHAN

  • Someone in the ISI (a little kid's skating institute) has an example program using the same music. :P

    Amazing skate, though. :)

  • Damn, if he had gotten the quad just a year earlier, and skated like he did at 2011 worlds, he'd be the Olympic champ!!!! I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan: I just wish he'd use a bit more exciting music. He tends to always skate to very heavy handed programs (esp. in the free), such as Phantom of the Opera, etc. Give him something that shows off his personality.

  • @mlc2005 True. He has come on so much since last year. Let's be honest, he was actually in a class of his own in Moscow Worlds this year.

  • Females' Best>>KIM YUNA...Males'>>PATRICK CHAN!!!i love them both...

  • He and Yuna Kim are the best

  • I'm kind of in love with this guy 0____0

  • Fantastic SP. Perfect quad and triple combo with artistic body movement. It's a pure "flow".

  • Patrick is the best! He has the jumps, the foot work and the artistry.

  • Whoa he made everything look soooooo easy!

  • great programme! technical and smart! 1st combination is so perfect!

... He widely deserves the title!

  • Does anyone have the CBC version for Patrick's performances? I'm still hoping someone will upload them

  • Soooooooooo smooth.

  • He is so handsome!

  • @trojanrob24 That's right, he spits on the face of that stereotype that says Chinese men can't be good-looking.

  • get that guy a helmet and skates! He would be one heck of a hockey player....Datsyuk x 10000000!!!!

  • Patrick is the next evolution of skating perfection. He is the epitome of perfection with the new points system. Artistry, musicality, technicality, personality, edge quality, spins, posture, form, strength, beauty, jumping genius, costume, choreography, interpretation, maturity, all rolled into an effortless package. It is a joy to watch and he hardly broke a sweat. You gotta be freaking kidding me! Plus Patrick is THE MOST humble and friendliest and genuine guy around. I met him in LA 2009 Wo

  • That was one of his best triple axels ever! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Racism, homophoby, women inequality? All because I said that not all skaters have to act femenine to be artistic. You have serious issues. I am ok being called a woman and not a man, because that is what I am. Yet I don't think that people stating the difference think that I am inferior or any of those outdated concepts you have. We are all different in most aspects, but we can all be equally amazing and have equal rights despite our differences.

  • @kalikalimo

Please can you stop putting words and concepts in my mouth.

Did you know about inequity between women and men salaries ?

Did you know there are many Gay prides all over the world because of homophobia ?

Did you know that a canadian commentator was seriously blamed for a "feminine looking skater" speaking about Weird.

These are all facts, not serious issues on my side.

As I already told you, words have an incredible force. They can be interpretate one way or its opposite.

  • @magaline2008 I know all about women inequality, but by saying you are a man or you are a woman I am not discriminating anyyone, I am stating a fact. If I say women should earn less then there is a problem because that is sexism. If by "Weird" you mean Johnny Weir, I don't see what is the problem. I'm sure that some people would agree that his style is somewhat femenine, but that is what makes him amazing and his performances are beautiful. I don't see why he would be offended by that.

  • @kalikalimo

this is why it was not necessary to add "look feminin to be artistic"

If you had write "Chan is very artistic" you would have express everything without starting a controversial discussion here.

I am not the only one who see an issue in your first comment.

If I wrote "It is not necessary to be a white man to be intelligent" would you see some racism behind ?

What would you think if I wrote "Martin Luther King is very intelligent"

  • @magaline2008 I don't think your white vs. black people intelligence comparison applies here, since we are talking about art appreciation. If a man is able to move in a femenine way, I see that as a good ability that not all men possess and he should be proud to add that quality to his art. However some people (check other Chan's or Lysacek videos) complain that some skaters who do not move in a femenine way are not artistic enough. My comment meant that moving with masculinity is also artistic

  • Excellent !!

  • Just love the beginning! He's sooo cute!!!

  • Take Five

  • ITS ABOUT TIME HE WON GOLD. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. HE'S SO AWESOME :)

  • He's like a mashup of Browning and Wylie. Perfect!

  • as i said earlier in the season if he is on in the jumps no one can beat him. the choreography is outstanding and Olympic caliber. I hope he brings it back for the Olympics.

  • i remember the first time i heard about him back in 2008... this cute 17 year old kid from ontario.

know hes the worlds biggest bad ass.

  • recording making skate. Great job Pat.

  • loveeeeeee him

  • wow! fantastic performance!! setting a new world record for both short and long program. You're doing a good job this year of world championship! congrats!

  • HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • REP CANADA! REP TORONTO!

  • GO P-Chiddy!!! :D MUCH LOVE from Toronto! Muah!

  • @KelticaTheo LOL u canadian. eh?? same here from Toronto as well

  • P-Chiddy is a world champ and cute to boot! But I still miss Buttle.

  • proud to be canadian!

  • Proof that men can skate beautifully and gracefully without looking feminine.

  • @kalikalimo

this is the most stupid and homophobic remark I ever read. Once doesn't exclude the other. Everybody who put work and energy to perform in sports deserve some respect. Can you perform better than feminine looking skater ? If yes, just register at these competitions.

  • Comment removed

  • @magaline2008

My comment was far from being homophobic. First of all, being homosexual and effeminate are two different things. I have many homsexual friends and some of them look and act in a very masculine way, some others not, but the gay=effeminate is a stupid stereotype, as stupid as you. Second, I never said that a skater who looks masculine is better. I said this because some people believe that to skate you have to be effeminate but I enjoy performances by effeminate male skaters too.

  • @kalikalimo

Oh interesting how you try to rephrase your meaning.

If you were not that homophobic, why having added "without looking feminine" in your first comment.

A normal, non-homophobic comment would be "Proof that men can skate beautiffuly and gracefully".

See, you have probably lot of "straight-acting" gays as friends. But judging people or using their behavior to differenciate them... this is exactly the definition of segretion.

Perhaps you think you're not homophobic, but you act as if.

  • @magaline2008 The most important part of my comment is the part that says "wtihout looking femenine". I said this because a lot of people think that all male figure skaters are either effeminate or gay, and I do not think that is true. Second, you keep implying that all homosexual men are effeminate and the ones that are not act "straight", which only shows your ignorance. I am not judging anyone, I am just stating that a male does not necessarily have to look femimine to be artistic.

  • @magaline2008 My original comment never says that I do not like femenine performances by male skaters. I just meant that not all have to be like that. Homophobic means to show a negative attitude towards a homosexuals, lesbians, transgenders, ...etc. I am not saying anything negative about them. Now differentiating people is a normal thing to do. If I say you are white and I am black, I am differentiating people, yet I am not offending anyone. There is nothing wrong with stating differences.

  • @kalikalimo I'm sorry. Ignoring interiorised homophoby reveales that you didn't make all your work about homophoby.

Differentiating people seem to be normal. There are males, females right ?

Why do you think that by saying "You're a woman" implied that she will earn less money for the same work, she will have to take care about the children mostly of the time, she will cancel their job to visit the doctor for the children.... etc....? See differentiating people is the first step of "racism"

  • @kalikalimo And if they do skate looking feminine, good for them...at least they are being whom they are, and not trying to fit into your mold...

  • @hrjr2009 I never said that there was anything wrong with femenine looking skaters. Read comments on other Chan's videos and you will see how many people say he is not as artistic as others and they cite femenine skaters. I think they are awesome, but Chan is awesome too. I think a lot of people have a mold=male skaters should be femenine and I don't agree, which is what I meant with my comment. I don't have a mold, I enjoy all and I am just pointing out this particular characteristic of Chan.

  • @kalikalimo

I just remind you you didn't write "move in a feminine way" in your first comment, but "without LOOKING feminine".

You can't see any parallele with prejudices for racism and homophobia ? Damn !

I really don't understand why people have to explain why they like or not an artistic work.

You like it, fine, you don't like it, fine to

To show you the difference between male and females skater performances expectations, remember the french Surya Bonali ! Black and non-feminine...

  • @magaline2008 As I have explained many times, by without looking femenine I refered to his artistic style. It is not that I don't think that racism and homophobia are both forms of discrimination, it is just that my comment is not homophobic, since I am not saying that having a femenine style is bad. I meant that masculine skaters can be as graceful as femenine ones, unlike other people's opinion. If people wouldn't have an opinion of artistic works and share it, then art would not exist.

  • @kalikalimo

Ok you're not homophobic, but be careful at what and how you write things please.

Art doesn't need critics to exist. If I decide to write a book, to paint, to sculpt, to sing, I will never create by thinking at the critics... else it is not art but "work".

Real artists don't care about critics. They just do what they think it's ok to express emotions.

Critics refer simply at the market value of an art never at the inner value of the art. Inuit art didn't wait for critics to exist

  • @magaline2008 Good point.

  • @kalikalimo I do believe, It is impossible to not look feminine while figure skating.

  • @kalikalimo i thought evgeny plushenko's sex bomb was the proof

  • @IlovelouisDTV exibition performance :P, but yes it is another proof

  • @kalikalimo or sounding feminine LOL!

  • @kalikalimo or sounding feminine ... cuz most guy skaters sound gay :P LOL

  • @kalikalimo men whom skate "femininly" are skating being whom they are! Why bash them? I could care if a program is masculine or feminine! As long as its clean...thats all that matters!

  • @kalikalimo true dat!!!

  • gorgeous performance of a record breaking short program! well done , Patrick !

  • Absolutely awesome! And , my favorite piece of music, Michael, you make me a proud Canadian.
