Jesús H Crist, I see all of those men who going to Vietnam, leaving his wifes, learning basic martial arts in the army, learning airwarfare (3:12) thats makes i really wanna born in that time, you know, U.S.A should be like that for a while... i mean, that makes, who i wanna born back there in the 1948... The old times...
This song takes me back to my Haight-Ashbury days in San Francisco in 1967 and 1968. I loved it!
Peace & Love

Oh! One day after they turned Haight St. into a one-way because of all the tourist coming into the area, Country Joe got a truck with a flatbed trailer so he could set the band up on it. As they slowly came down Haight St., they were playing this song. I'll never forget that!
With strong prompting from the Pentagon......I'm sure that career military types just HATE the chances for promotion, combat command time, combat medals, revolving door 'defense' contractor jobs which war affords.
The topic isn't against the soldiers who fought in Vietnam, it is calling into question the motivation of entering Vietnam, just as the issue of our entrance into Iraq is called into question nowadays
thanks for fighting for this great country....your very brave and i have nothing but respect for u and the other soldiers who put their lives on the line for all of us...but i do wish that this war hadnt started in the first place...
Oh my god it took 6 comments for someone to say something intelligent. Thanks, cleancutchaos, good stuff. And dor the record I have nothing but respect for our men & women in uniform. It's the ones at the top who get us into these messes, and our soldiers pay the price for it, only to get hepatitis in the V.A. hopsitals as a thanks for thier service. Nice, isn't it?

The enlistment station and Basic training looks like around 1965--just when Johnson was starting the buildup for VN

Love this song, writing a section about it in my report. The sarcasm and blatant mock of the government is fantastic.

how come all the vietnam videos are about america and our soldiers or how evil our politicians are?
the Viets on both sides of the war fought and died just as hard... where's the videos in their honor?

I understand, what you're saying
But,
It was their war, not ours. And This isn't in honor of the American soldiers...it's mocking the U.S. government.

I like the rythm but not the topic, I'm about to join the marines and go to Iraq and if I was 40 years older I would've went to Vietnam
