Absolutely beautiful. Well done! There are so many mediocre performances of this piece on youtube, rushed or poorly interpreted, but this is fantastic.
I'm a junior in high school and have been playing marimba for 3 years. Currently I'm the front ensemble section leader. Do you think this would still be too technically challenging to play?
This is a great performance of a great piece! I am just wondering what kinds of mallets would you recommend for this? I am looking to buy some harder mallets since all I have are medium-soft mallets. Any specific mallets you would recommend?
medium soft birch shafts, your on the bottom octaves of the marimba the whole time.
this is my solo right now and i found for the accents sounded better because the number one mallet tends to slam unintentionally if you dont control it in the technicality and speed of the piece. but theres accents on those notes, it just sounds and blends better.
'Tis a shame that not the whole piece is being played, yet the quality that this excerpt is being played is of very high quality. I do enjoy listening to this piece.
I would like to know, Are you basing your interpretation of the music off of the interpretation of Katarzyna Mycka? Because the interperetations sound quite similar.
Bravo !
I love your interpretation and emotion while playing this. I'm not going to comment on any technique flaws or musical flaws because personally i have not even begun to look at this piece and honestly, i did not even really look for any. I listen to the recording of this piece almost daily and it is such a beautiful arrangement.
Your performance was so graceful and with so much finesse. Thank you.
Hello Francesca! I liked your video a lot, I am also learning that piece here in Costa Rica, I did not tell Carmen yet... I'm still wondering, why is it that you stopped at the middle? ...anyway, I like your version very much! = ) Say hello to everyone in Stuttgart from me!

I really like that you are playing it ... "woman" way. However music has not just one way of interpretation, that why it is amazing. I myself like it much more cutted. I am using at least twice more heavy and twicer rapid malets. You are playing Stivens, and I play classic grip. (not Gary Burton) This Marimba has really nice and soft sound, but I myself think that Piazzolla must be not "nimbling shade of spark" but "Unstopable Fire" Anyway nice performing. Just why you don't play it to the end?
I know that this is "you tube" but I must say I'm impressed and I am not often impressed. However I do feel that you could do a little bit more with the shaping of the phrases and dynamics. Not that they were bad, but I can see that you have the technique and musicality to do more with this piece.
i like the slow motion smile at the end.... :) ur pretty
