This product is the most unreliable technology I ever purchased. All I wanted was to connect my iPad to the Nikon D90 in direct mode. The card transmits pics when it feels like it.sometimes they show up on iPad and most times who knows where pics are. I tried 4 times with fresh reinstall and the same crapy result.I investigated online only to learn that there 100s of other people complaining about same issue.I am shocked that a company would allow such product to be released to the market place.

This Eye-fi card is very very slow at downloading. I use a SD 3.0 card reader that screams, my Eye-fi card is like USB 1.0 very very slow, it crawls comapred to USB 3.0.
u have to be EXTREMELY lazy to use this, seriously, takes only a few seconds to take the sd card out of your camera or w/e and put it in your computer
This is so overrated. The system only works on your home wireless system and the thumbnails are itsy bitsy. If you could take it out on a shoot and have the photos upload full screen, you'd have something.
@getconnectedtvshow would i have to pay to use any of the eye fi features? i dont work and my mom was gonna buy me this for my birthday but i will not want the eye fi if there is a monthly fee or extra payment is required to use any of the features. i was planing on using it to upload pictures and videos to facebook and videos to youtube! please respond back soon!
You can pay $10 per month if you want it to use any network in the world, but it is free to automatically send.
It is not cost money. It will send them through your wifi network to your computer and facebook, and you can tell it which ones not to send to facebook by marking them as protected
they should make a 3g/4g version of this. when you take the pictures, they should be instantly uploaded to a server hosted by the manufacturer of the card. then when you get home (or you can access the internet) you can log into the server and select which photos you want. but this is much more convenient.
@pikefan23 sure so when you are out taking pics the gov can see exactly what you are up to. also anyone could get ahold of your pics / vids that way. ppl are way to trust worthy. having it assigned to your personal wifi setup at home is way safer but still not completely. just take your pc/laptop/ipad/or tablet with you and setup a secured adhoc link between the two and not worry about it. i take my tablet everywhere anyway.
something like this would be great for sports and journal....sends pictures to the media as soon as it happen. but todays camera, like the canon 1d mark 4 are way too fast even the memeory card inside the camera can not keep up.
yeah is pretty cool and everything but what about if you in the mountain and there is not Wi-Fi ? see that is where the magic starts :) so yep once again is a pointless SD card over all, oh yes try not leave your local mcdonals or startbucks lol
Say I were to go out of the country for a vacation, without a laptop or any internet connecting device. Say I were to take a lot of pictures there, and spend the night at a hotel with wifi. Without my computer, would the card be able to send the pictures home to my home computer?
When i first heard of this i was amazed, but then i realised that it was only for your home network...
This would work so much better if they had a wireless dongle that you plug into lapop so that when you take a photo it gets wirelessly sent to the laptop, using your laptop hdd as your storage space, would be good if you were shooting in the field as a professional photographer, would only require one card.
@26dragon93 That's an excellent idea. As we move to 4G networks, I'm sure we will see more innovations like the one you just suggested. With cloud computing becoming more popular, I think it will be only a matter of time before we have access to files anywhere at anytime

@26dragon93 if you are shooting in the field you can make an adhoc network and just your computer and card would be connected

@26dragon93 this is possible using a laptop as "router", or am i missing something here?
lastminyt 2 months ago
@lastminyt yes search how to make an adhoc network
freestylefilmsinc 1 month ago
@26dragon93
You can already do this with the eye-fi.
If you do a google for "eye-fi ad hoc" there's a guide showing you how to.
An Ad Hoc connection basically allows 2 laptops to setup a wifi connection between each other without needing a wireless access point.
Or in this case, one eye-fi card and a laptop.
I only came across eye-fi a few mins ago, but Ad Hoc was the first thing that came to mind when reading your message!
