  • is it possible to lay on a matress?, anyway thx alot

  • @Duraku9 - I think you can use a mattress if you have nothing else but I feel you will not get the full movement because the elbows will not go slighly lower then the body as you bring the weights down to level with the top of the chest. Baz

  • This exercises plus bench press enough to build muscular chest.

  • @timbrandon94 - yes definately. Baz

  • That was great advice !! Thank you very much !!

  • @hurleyddhurleydd - it is a pleasure and I am glad that you viewed this video. I hope you will check out the others. Baz

  • good video mr.

  • @p7589 - thanks very much. Baz

  • Thx Boz, Im starting a chest exercise program next week. This is perfect for my upper chest. Yur presentation was excellent by the way.

  • @Wheels4997 - that sounds wonderful. I hope your program goes well. Thanks also for great compliment. Baz

  • this is EXACLTY what i wanted to know, thank you VERY much!

  • @slashsven - that is fantastic and I am so pleased you have found something to help you. Baz

  • Haha you are my favourite youtube instructor ;)

  • @idominsalva1 - that is really nice of you to say. Thanks you. Baz

  • baz is it bad if u train ir bice/triceps every day with 1-2 days rest at 7 days

  • @isisrufus - if you want to build a muscle I really do not think you should train it more than 2 times a week with at least 48 hours rest between each time you train them. Baz

  • @BazBlog thanks so like monday biceaps thusday- tricaps wednessday-abs

    thusday-chest friday-biceaps

    saterday-tricaps sunday-abs?

  • @isisrufus - yes it looks like you are getting enough rest for the muscles to grow. Baz

  • @isisrufus wheres your legs workouts? lol

  • @Biiaattcchh100 that was when i was not a gym home work out now i am member of gym yes i also do leg work outs

  • who push the dislike button, you are chick!!!

  • @SMARTBOY951 - I suppose everyone has a right to say what they believe. I have enough really fantastic support not to worry what others might think or say. Baz

  • After how long of doing this will i se results?

  • @0arfarf0 - provided you eat right and train hard you will see some results in about 3/4 months. There are no short cuts to building muscles. The get muscles quick schemes are a load of rubbish there is no such thing. Baz

  • @MarkSammut13 - OK. Baz

  • I'm only 15 and i heard that if i do exercise at this age i can stop growing taller and can make damage etc , is that true ? i won't mind stop getting taller as i'm already really tall but my friend never exercised because hes afraid he wont get taller

Thanks a lot for the guides , they really help , I can see change in every session i do now.

  • @J0os3ph - up to the age of about 16 the bone ends are often still soft so heavy weights can do some damage. Some people take a chance and do not have a problem. I would never take a chance on that. It does not mean you cannot train. just train very light with lots of reps. Then at about 16 go for it and you will have already built a fantstic foundation. If you think about it from 16 you could train for the next 50 years. that is an awful long time so why rush. Baz

  • hey thanks for the awesome video and i want to ask can you suggest a good exercise to lose my belly fat and my breast fat?

  • @ziker124 - thanks so much. I suggest you have a look at the nutrition video and the fat loss video and that will help you to really tone up. Baz

  • @BazBlog ok i will check them thanks ^^

  • @ziker124 - no problem. Baz

  • Baz i have a muscle failure like when im doing push ups even 1 rep on my arm (left) can i cure it its kinda like the muscle dont want to coperate when im doing push ups if i do other exercise with out push ups can i still get nice results

  • @Iknowsyou1 - It sounds like the muscle is weak. Do the push ups with your knees on the ground. It is a lot easier and as you get stronger then start to do normal push ups. Baz

  • @BazBlog ahhh thanks i will do that haven't thot of that

  • @Iknowsyou1 - good luck with it and let me know how you get on. Baz

  • btw, this dumbbell fly and dumbbell press enough for chest exercises? I got no equipment for straight bar bench press.

  • @timbrandon94 - yes it certainly is. You really can do most exercises with dumbbells and get fantastic results. Baz

  • Anyway, how much time will required for chest to build up doing this exercises?

  • @timbrandon94 - you can see a nice difference in about 120 days. It will depend on a few things though. How well you eat, how hard you train and your genetic make up. Some people will build quicker than others. Baz

  • i usually do inclined bench press

should i go for flys instead?

  • @Etyopis - do both. They are both a great way to work the upper chest muscles. Baz

  • I've got a little question: what do you think about creatin and can it really help me to get more muscles ?? sorry for my bad english.

  • @p45RiCK - I think it is great and yes it certainly does give you more energy and a bit more power to lift. The creatine will not build the muscle you will have to do a lot of hard training for that to happen but the creatine does help. Baz

  • @BazBlog So how often should i take it? :-)

  • @p45RiCK - take it once a day. Stick to the min dose recommended and drink lots of water. Baz

  • @p45RiCK - I would take the min dose once a day. I would also drink lots of water. Baz

  • @TheFunnyMonkeyBoy - That is fantastic to hear. i am so pleased you are getting good results. Baz

  • sorry, i was watching a video on youtube, and one tip the fitness person said is when you do flies make sure you dont change the shape of your arms, so keep that v shape steady so you work more on the chest and less on the arms, also another question is it good if i pop my chest up when i do flies? or any bench workout?

  • @sk1ller11 - there are lots of different ideas on how to do flys and other exercises. I have even heard that straight arms work well. You need to work it out for yourself. I think you should not arch your back when training chest but if you find getting your shoulder blades as close together so you push your chest out works the best for you then do it. Baz

  • hey i got a question: can u train this exercise 2 times a week or is it better to do it once a week ? thank you very much!

  • @xshjim - I like 2 times a week say a Monday and then a Thursday. Lots of people like to just do it once. I think it is up to you. You should not do it more than 2 times a week as you will not have enough time to rest before you train again. Baz

  • lol "you want a rounded chest"

    NOOOOOO i dont want boobs

wait, theyre muscles.. yeah i do, just not tight shirts

  • @1245678987 - I am not sure what you are trying to say. Baz

  • @BazBlog it was kind of an inside joke

you said "you want a rounded chest" and acted as if you were talking about breasts

i was like NOOO... i dont want man boobs

  • @1245678987 - Ok now I am with you. Yes I too would not like man boobs but to have a full rounded chest would be brilliant. Baz

  • @BazBlog dude ur so dry.. say "lol" dont reply saying an essay.. nice tips tho. theyr working

  • @yabrotly - I do what I enjoy. Baz

  • I would just like to say Baz, watching this video which was made in 2008 makes you look a lot thinner and you looked older than you do now! great job =]

  • @t1nyt0m098 - Yes that is when I had not been training for that long. I think the fitter you get the better you will look. I think that is how it has worked for me. Baz

  • hey baz.. sup.. hmm well wat do u think bout doin this flat? o.o not inclined or declined .. cuz i dun have somethin to bent in ma home.. XD hmm and will it help me losin fat around ma pecs? o.o ty bye

  • @MontylsHere - Yes flat is quite fine my friend. To lose the fat you will have to cut back on the food you eat and do some aerobics. There is a video on fat loss and one on nutrition. Have a look at them and get some ideas and you will build a good looking chest. Baz

  • hello Baz,

Do you have any suggestions about how to concentrate on sqeezing the chest when reach the top? Thank you!

  • @yihsheen - One of the ways is to use a straight bar and do some normal bench presses. When you get to the top of the reps squeeze the bar with your hands so they cannot slide and then you try to slide the hands toward each other. You will automatically be then squeezing the and causing the chest to flex. I hope that makes sense. Once you know how it feels to flex you will be able to do it with flys. Baz

  • Are those blue dumbells the ones you fill up with water?

  • @Acoontey - no I think they have more like cement in them. Baz

  • Thank you for all these demos!!

  • @yihsheen - pleasure my friend thanks for your comment. Baz

  • @Tautologically - Decline work the bottom of the chest. Your elbow must not be too bent. Only a slight bend. The squeeze or flex is at the top of the movement. You have to literally cause it. You can do it but it takes a lot of concentration. Baz

  • Hey Baz if I'm doing an exercise and I'm struggling to finish the reps, (say on the last set) should I persist or go down to a lower weight? Because last week I wasn't really doing that well with flyes, but this week after benching a much higher weight (barbell bench press), I did flyes with the same amount of weight and it felt relatively easy. Thanks

  • @Tautologically - it is good to battle on the last set but only for the last 3/4 reps. Not the whole set or you might be a bit too heavy. To build you have to push yourself but not if the form goes out the window. Baz

  • If I don't have a bench that can be declined, is there any other activity you can think of that I can do to train the lower portion of my pecs? I only have a bench press set and a pair of dumbbells. I read somewhere that you can do push ups with your feet elevated and that's what I'm doing now.

    Thanks

  • @Tautologically - The push ups sounds like a really good idea. I would actully put the bottom of my bench on bricks so I make it declined. (Safely) You will need a bit of a support for your feet aswell. That would work well. Baz

  • Is there any other way you can do this other than on one of them benches?

  • @xGreeeg - not hat I know of. You can get a cheap gym ball to substitue as a bench. Baz

  • baz, are u not concerned about shoulder damage considering u go so low???????

  • @allnightgibbons112 - No I go to where I feel is comfortable. I would never force myself to go low. We all have different flexability in our shoulders so work to what is comfortable. The shoulder can rotate and I think too much is made about shoulder damage by people who have abused their body and now almost do not want to lift their arms above their head in case the do damage. Baz

  • Hi Baz, I really have a small body built since childhood, im 34 now.. Im trying to built chest and shoulder... what do you think should i do?

  • @kenaniah356- you need to focus on the basics. Do normal flat bench presses for your chest and some shoulder presses for your shoulders. You need to eat right and try to do some quite heavy weights with lower reps so you can get the muscles to grow. Have a look at my site w's buildingmuscles org uk and get some more ideas. If you need more help let me know. Baz

  • nice man.. btw do you arc your back? or do lay flat against the surface?

  • @iJonikz - thanks very much. No you must always keep your back flat on the bench with any bench press or flys exercises. Baz

  • do you have a sister or cousin or anythign named marg? she lives north coast of NSW australia.

ahha you look so much like a family freind of ours

  • @shick1337

No I have a young nephew who lives somewhere in Australia. Now one elsethough. Baz

  • baz super videos

a combination for a very fit chest

not big (fit) or better dricrease

  • Thanks very much I hope it will help you. Baz

  • May i know what is dat chair he is sitting on called?

  • It is a combination bench. You can do incline and flat exercises on it. It also has an attachments that allowes me to do lat pull downs, tricep push downs, preacher curls and leg extensions. Baz

  • Hey Baz,

Just want to say a BIG Thank You for your videos. I've learnt many new tricks.

  • Thank you very much for your support. It is a plesure to try to help. Baz

  • Thank you very much.

  • Pleasure my friend and the best of luck with your training. Baz

  • well baz ~ u did explained the differences between incline flys n decline flys ... but why did some of the ppl in the gym lying down flat on the benches doin flys ? wat does that work on ?

  • That works the overall chest and is a very good way to train the chest for size and strength and shape. Baz

  • @BazBlog alrite thx baz ;D i enjoyed ur video very much ;)

  • Pleasure my friend thank you. Baz

  • if you dont have anything like that to be inclined, can you just lay with your back flat on the floor and do this?

  • You can but you will not be getting the full movement you need. It will be better then doing nothing. Why not get a gym ball they are very cheap and work really well as a bench. Baz

  • alright, thanks Baz

  • Pleasure and good luck. Baz

  • how can you variate incline/decline with push ups, Just put your hips higher then your chest exactly the same as with the dumbells. Because I want to train the lower chest muscles. By the way you got great vids.

  • Yes altering the leg postion will work different parts of the chest. Thanks very much for the idea you have sent and for the compliment. Baz.

  • That is good advice thanks. Baz

  • Comment removed

  • well baz,im 16 years old and i have bein doing weights since about september time. currently im focousing on upper body workout doing 3 sets each of flys and press with reps of 15 using two dumbells of 10kg each is that enough work and resistance to create muscle mass?? oh ya when doing the exercise i make sure to go at a slow pace up and down does that have a positive effect?? and i was just wondering how long does it take to see muscle growth?? thanks very much!!!

  • You have the right idea. You will have to do more if you want to build. You need to use as heavy as you can handle to build. You will want to do around 8 reps of max weight and do about 4 to 5 sets for each muscle. Food is really important when training. If you eat right you will have half the battle won. You should see a good difference in about 3 to 4 months. Baz

  • what do i do first, incline or decline dumble fly??

  • I would stick to flat most of the time and now and again do incline. Once you have built some sizable muscle then you can start doing incline and decline a lot more. Get a good base first. Baz

  • Baz, I'm doing the inclined flys you demonstrated for quite some time, I see my chest "popping out" a bit, but I just don't see the ripped line in the middle of chest. I wonder if you can tell me why.

Also, does the "butterfly" exercise give same result as doing the inclined flys?

    Hope to see your reply.

  • That is great you are getting some results. The butterfly and flys are quite similar. I used to do them both when I attended a gym. Now I do not have a machine for that so just do flys which is fine. You can try doing narrow grip bench press and even though that mainly works the triceps try to focus on the chest doing the lift. It does help. There is also a video on chest I did where I showed a twist exercise in front of you and that certainly does help a bit. It will not build but helps. Baz

  • when doing dips does that work your chest on the upper part as well as the lower part?

  • Dips mainly works the triceps. It will do a bit for the outer part of the chest but not much. Fly' are what is great for the chest . Baz

  • How do I train it with 1 dumb bell?

  • Probably with a lot of difficulty. You really cannot train proper if you do not have 2 dumbbells. Try to get another one and then you will be able to do the chest better. Baz

  • how much did one of those individual dumbells weigh?

  • These are when I just started and I used very light just to show the exercsie I think about 12lbs each. Lol. Baz

  • great video

  • Thanks a ton. Baz

  • im a kid and i dont want big muscels... I want flat chest and stomach and some muscels on the arms... NO big muscels... i would really appreciate if someone could help me out... i also wanna train away love handels and manboobies :D

  • You need to eat right first so have a look at the nutrition video on bazblog and you will change that. Then you need to do a lot of press ups to get what you want with chest and arms. Baz.

  • i do not have an incline flys so what should i use instead?

  • You can if you put something under the back end of your bench and raise it up. If not then you will have to settle for normal flat bench flys which are also very good for an overall chest workout. Baz

  • Baz, I really wasn't to start working my chest muscles but unfortunately right now, I don't have a bench I'm waiting till I get some extra money. so in the mean time what do you recommend?

  • Get yourself a gym ball they are like very cheap and use that as a bench till you can afford a proper bench. Theat is great for the core too as you will have to learn to balance. Baz

  • Ive been doing the inclined flys and presses at about a 45 degree angle and it really works my shoulders all around so if i move the bench down a notch will it target my upper chest more?

  • Yes the higher you go the more you will work shoulders. I would drop down a few notches. That will definitely work the chest more. Baz

  • does the excercise help to make the chest thicker and stand out more, or does it just shape the width of the chest? And what is the difference in the benefits of the dumbbell flat press and dumbbell flat fly?

  • It is just 2 different angles you are training the chest. They both will add depth and width to the chest. The press will tend to work more toward the middle of the chest and the fly I find works the outer edge of the chest. Baz

  • when I'm doing the dumbell flat press, I dont feel any strain and no burning sensation in my chest, just my upper arm areas. Is this normal? Is my chest being worked out but I cant feel it as much as for ex: hammer curls on my bicepts?

  • Yes it is good be careful with the shoulders that you do not put too much strain on them so dont go too low which is easy to do. Baz

  • Thanks for the comment. You need to train the same muscle not more than 2 times a week. Have a min of 48 hours rest between training it. You need to eat 6 times a day and as you are thin have a fist size of protein and 2 fist sizes of carbs per meal. There is a nutrition video on bazblog that explains. Baz

  • Hello Baz. I have just started to lift weights a cuple of weeks ago and i have done many of your exercises, you are a really good teacher. I have a question. Im about 5,9 and weight 130 pounds. wery skinny. How many times sould i train and eat to gain more muscle?

  • u r the best man, iam watching all ur vids! :D

  • Thank you very much that is a wonderful compliment. Baz

  • great video Baz, let me ask u a question... I lift 5 times a week Monday thru Friday, do u recommend protein shakes for that?

  • Thank you so much. I would and do use protein drinks 2/3 times a day. Baz

  • omg thank you i flex my chest all the time i notice the bottom of my chest looks pretty good but top it looks flat now i no the problem i gotta be more incline now i just need a incline bench thanks!

  • That is right an incline bench is what you need to round off the chest. Baz

  • if i i just do pushups and dumbell flys and dumbbell press well it be rounded off like will pushups work upper chest or just lower?

  • Push up works over all chest and if you rasie you feet highter then your chest you will work mor the upper part which is great. Flys can be flat overall chest or inclined for upper. Baz

  • shud i put my feet on a coach then? and whenever i do pushups i feel burn in my shoulder and triceps never chest

  • Yes try that with your feet on the couch. Try going wider with the arms when you do the press ups. As your triceps and shoulders get stronger you will feel the chest work more and more. Baz

  • ok thank you will do

  • Excellent. Baz

  • thanks Baz !

  • Pleasure. Baz

  • thank u baz

  • Pleasure my friend. Baz

  • nice....thats one of the main things i always wondered.......now i just have to do more incline benches..........thanks :)

  • I hope you get good results Baz

  • hey baz i am 16 and weigh about 140 pounds is good for me to start workingout without screwing up my growth. P.S. great videos i am starting with the right nutrition now

  • Yes you can start training now. Just do not rush to go very heavy. Take your time build a good foundation with fairly light weights getting the movement right and then push harder and harder. Baz

  • Get a good stretch at the bottom, and don't rest at the top..

Keep the tension in ur chest

  • That sounds good just be a bit careful that you do not go too low or you could do some shoulder damage. Baz

  • hello baz i really appreciate your teaching i have one question . im 13 and i do dumbell exs i do 100 on both hands every day is that good ? plz msg me thank you xiodkev :)

  • I think you need to do very light and do around 4 sets of 20. 2 times a week. Rather train with your own body weight till your bones have developed properly around 17 . Baz

  • great video, but how many reps and sets would you say?

  • I train every muscle the same. 1 Minute rest between sets.

    12 - 16 reps very light warm - up 12 reps heavier

    10 reps heavier

    8 reps heavier

6 reps heavier. I struggle to lift from 3 rep

12 reps reduce weight to weight of 8 reps. (I battle from 7-8 reps) Go straight on to a superset of 12 reps (no rest) with another exercise for the same muscle. EG. Chest - main exercise; bench press superset; incline fly's.

I then have a 2 minute rest and go on to another muscle.

    Cheers Baz

  • thank you.

  • Pleasure thanks for watching. Baz

  • Sir, i have a big chest but the muscle is focused on the upper side of the chest, how can i train the lower side of the chest?

  • What you might have to do is to train for a while doing decline bench presses. That means on the bench your hips are higher than you head and shoulders. That works the lower part of the chest. Baz

  • o...thank u so much...and all of ur video is great, it helps me a lot, thank u...

  • Pleasure I am very thankful that you have watched them. Baz

  • i have a problem. i try doing this and i can only feel it in my biceps; nothing whatsoever in my chest. what am i doing wrong?

  • You need to lock your arms in a slighly bent position and then feel the chest (Pecs) do the lifting. It does take quite a bit of concentration. That is why I often squeeze the pec before I start so I am aware of the muscle that is going to do the work. Try going lighter and do a lot more reps so you feel the chest work. That way u learn what that feels like. Baz

  • dumb bells is best train for chest ??? but is so hard to do XD

  • I am not sure what you mean by XD. I find that dumbbells is great for chest and loads of other muscles to. That is because you have a more free movement so you can be a bit more comfortable with lifting. You should not lift any weight in an uncomfortable position. Baz

  • Sir, what is the weight of a dumbbell would you suggest for a beginner? By the way, XD is another emoticon used in the Internet, laughing with eyes closed.

  • Thanks for the comment and the explanation of XD. I learn something new every day. No one can determine what weight someone else should be using. You have to work that out for yourself. You should be able to do 12 reps easily and could go on and do 20 with out too much trouble. That would be a great warm up weight and you work from there. Baz

  • Thanks sir, I will check out your site for more info. Do upload more videos!

  • There is quite a bit of information on the site. Good luck with your training. I will be doing a lot more videos quite soon. Baz

  • you sound like a south african accent ;o

  • South African and Zimbabwean are very similar. I am Zim. Baz
