Now I'm not saying that the AK-47 is a copy or anything but the basic design of it was already seeing action in WWII on the german side with the Stg-44.
They both use a similar cyclic action, they both fire a so-called intermediate round (in the case of the Kalashnikov it's a shortened version of the 7.62x54mm called the 7.62x39mm, the germans used a shortened version of their 7.92x59mm), and they were both designed to combine the size of an SMG with the range of a rifle.
@MrFalconfly The AK47 and STG44 are just one idea but two diffrent types and diffrent working mechanics.Michael Kalaschnikov put only the idea of an assault rifle and the idea of an new calibre, but the mechanics are diffrent.AK47 has rotating bolt and its hang with the gas acceptance and the reload stock.STG44 has titting bolt and all closure parts are seperated.Sorry for bad english.
Both the Stg-44 and the AK variants uses intermediate calibers and uses a gas-system instead of just sheer recoil like any MG or SMG.
Now of course all the details will be different (as you yourself mentioned) but just look at the Stg-44 as a kind of Grandfather to the Kalashnikov. Just like the Me-262 is related to the MiG-15 (swept wings and all). Or like the T-34 is related to the Leopard 2A5 (sloping armour).
@MrFalconfly I think germans and russians built a lot stuff that can be called grandfather of its class.Like STG44,Panzerschreck,S-Mine,ERA,APS,EMP,IR sight,Helicopters and lot of more stuff.
But don't get me wrong. The russians have a very large track-record of making some of the best single-barrel weapons in history. They always had a heavier caliber, longer range, better accuracy and were more durable (emphasized by cannons like the GSh-30-1 or the GSh-23-2, or the insane 2A38M on the 9K22 Tunguska).

@meee2014 At the time when AK-47 was deigned, Kalashnikov didn't know about Stg44. He just though about new weapon that will be easy to build for large armies, that will be cheap in production and will be easy in use, in hands of person who don't know a thing about shooting.
If you will compare those two weapons in more details you will see that they are completely different. And I think even in Weaponology experts said it.

Now I'm not saying that the AK-47 is a copy or anything but the basic design of it was already seeing action in WWII on the german side with the Stg-44.
They both use a similar cyclic action, they both fire a so-called intermediate round (in the case of the Kalashnikov it's a shortened version of the 7.62x54mm called the 7.62x39mm, the germans used a shortened version of their 7.92x59mm), and they were both designed to combine the size of an SMG with the range of a rifle.

Well I did say the "basic" design.
Both the Stg-44 and the AK variants uses intermediate calibers and uses a gas-system instead of just sheer recoil like any MG or SMG.
Now of course all the details will be different (as you yourself mentioned) but just look at the Stg-44 as a kind of Grandfather to the Kalashnikov. Just like the Me-262 is related to the MiG-15 (swept wings and all). Or like the T-34 is related to the Leopard 2A5 (sloping armour).

But don't get me wrong. The russians have a very large track-record of making some of the best single-barrel weapons in history. They always had a heavier caliber, longer range, better accuracy and were more durable (emphasized by cannons like the GSh-30-1 or the GSh-23-2, or the insane 2A38M on the 9K22 Tunguska).

@meee2014 At the time when AK-47 was deigned, Kalashnikov didn't know about Stg44. He just though about new weapon that will be easy to build for large armies, that will be cheap in production and will be easy in use, in hands of person who don't know a thing about shooting.
If you will compare those two weapons in more details you will see that they are completely different. And I think even in Weaponology experts said it.

@iMrMacintosh Das STG44 hat eine absolut andere Mechanik als das AK47.Du solltest dich schon besser informieren.Das AK47 hat ein Drehkopfverschluß das mit der Gasabnahme und dem Gaskolben zusammen hängt, beim STG44 ist alles seperat und es hat ein Kippverschluß, diese zwei Mechaniken haben absolut nichts mit einander zu tun.Das einzige das sie gemeinsam haben ist ein ähnliches äußeres das ist aber alles.

@iMrMacintosh Ich kenne die Doku,das STG44 ist das erste STG der Welt,Michael Kalaschinkow hat diese Idee benutzt um ein eigenes zu entwickeln,die Technik ist dennoch eine andere.Und du bist anscheinend so ein Fall von keine Ahnung,das AK47 gibt es als moderne Waffe AK103 und ist nicht nur genauer als zb das G36 sondern auch durchschlagkräftiger.Durch die Mündungsfeuerbremse wird der Rückstoß bis zu 60% reduziert.Außerdem benutzt das russische Mil AK74M und AN94 und kein AK47.

@iMrMacintosh Man merkt du hast keine Ahnung von Waffen.Das M416 ist 5,56x45mm das XM8 ist ein unzuverlässiges Gewehr das nur als projekt für Amy markt geworfen wurde und nicht bestand.Es überhitzt schnell,blockiert zu oft und das Polymere plastik ist wie das des FAMAS,in kontakt mit Waffenreinigungsöl wird das Plastik spröde und reist haut auf an kerben.AK47 7,62x39mm joules 1961,5,45x39mm 1364 joules,5,56x45mm 1321 joules.Das AK74 ist um 4,5cm auf 100 meter besser als M16.

@iMrMacintosh Das M416 beruht im ganzen auf der Mechanik des M16 nur wurde die direkte Gasabnahme abgeändert um es zuverlässiger zu machen.Das M416 hat im prinzip gleiche Werte auf 100 metern wie das M16.Brauchst gar nicht erst mit noch neueren Experimentelen Waffen kommen oder dem G11 oder sonst was.Gegen die Präzision des AN94 oder AK74M stinkt M416,G36 und M16 um einige Punkte ab.Da du auch von Panzern und Ubooten keine Ahnung hast lassen wir das ganze lieber.

@Mig42MFI Нет я не служил в армии ксажалению есть проблемы со здоровьем но друзья которые служили и многим понравилось есть друзья которые щяс отучились и работаю по контракту тоже не жалуются потому что платят и платят нормально я же работал в 2 НИИ и сейчас работаю в НИИ так же платят нормально конечно есть проблемы но хорошие инженеры приходят потому что нормально платят и поверь будет всё нормально.

Sukhoi PAK FA is the 4++ gen fighter,and will not be made commercially before 2020.

Su-34, Ka-50 and T-90A are not new, they emerged in the early 1990s. Moreover, the Ka-50 has long been discontinued in favor of the Mi-28.
PAK FA can not be called 5th generation fighter, since it is not stealth, supersonic speed, does not develop without the use of afterburner, is not multirole.

Russia is still a military super power! And USrael-EU (also known as NATO) should be very careful about to asking them for trouble or to provoke Russia! NATO could suffer a very unpleasent surprise.... Russia (and also China!) will not allow USrael to attack Iran without a military reaction!!! This could be the cause for WW III !
