  • you would swear they put gasoline in those fire babinguishers, they never work, they may as well be throwing logs on that mafacka

  • lovely lovely fella

  • Pironi was devistated by this accient! You can see him desperatly trying to help & get the fire marshals to point in the right direction. Paletti was for all intensive purposes dead on impact. The fire did not touch him(amazingly enough) but the impact was so hard that his chest filled with blood & he could not breath. Such a tragic race, I remember it well:(

  • And after this race there was no deaths in GP weekends until R Ratzenberger & A Senna in 1994, what a horrible GP!!!

  • O my God!!! it horrible he might live if car didn't explode:/

  • No, he wont! The obduction said, that Palleti was killed at the crash. Did you know that this probabaly would have been his last race? His father (a millionar) sponsored hos sons obsession. But he was succesless. Maybe Daddy had been a bit more wiser and his son would live. Pironi had a horrible crash in Hockenheim ended his F1-career. In 1986 he died in an powerboat

  • i don't think so:P i think that FIA said that he died cos the crash, not the fire but i think he could survive but FIA was frightening effect of media and public opinion that they didn't stop the fire

  • You might think what you want. However the FIA doesn´t make any obduction. Its done by the legal medicine to find out who´s guilty. You can believe them or not.

  • @Ulker1707

No. He died on impact. The facts may not suit your personal agenda but that's the way it went down.

Please don't disrespect him by trying to make something out of his death that just never happened.

  • que incompetência, quanto mais pó químico os caras jogavam mais o fogo aumentava... afffz

  • rip

  • Very poignant commentary from Clive James again. For a sympathetic commentary from Murray Walker watch?v=652Sgs4J1kI

Lets keep it at intelligent discussion please guys.

  • The old F1 cars had standard gas tanks like you find on passenger cars. So when a car crash and the fuel tank broke, it often resulted in a fire. Today, the tanks are fuel cells. So if the tank break due to a collision, it leaks out very slowly and doesn't have a high chance of blowing up.

  • HE STAY WITH GOD RICARDO PALETTI

  • then the cars were full of fuel from the fist lap to the end.there were no pit stop to refuel.

  • Fuel tanks were made of aluminium, as today are made of soft, rubber-like deformable materials.

  • Well Robert Kubica is alive and well after one of the most horrible crashes in recent years. He survived thanks to the excellent work of engineers and the HANS system

  • Every few weeks, haha. Dumbass.

Also, Hockey is harder--that's right, harder-- than a dumbass sport like football. I bet none of you cunts who diss it have ever tried to fuckin skate. I play hockey. I know. Dumbfucks.

RIP all dead F1 drivers. Don't blame the cameraman, either. Actually (back in -1982) that cameraman was just as if not more useful than most race marshalls. If you don't believe me watch Roger Williamson's death.

  • That's right, hockey rules, i've played it 2...

  • I don't see what is so special, a person dies in F1 like every few weeks

  • Shut up, female, you don't know much about f-1, go surf or view a game of hockey...

  • First of all, I'm a boy

Second of all, its not "f-1" its Formula 1

    Hockey is kinda gay

  • Yeah, right.....whatever...

  • yeah some1 really dies every couple of weeks in f1 that's why the last driver to die in f1 was in 1994 and it's f1 not formula 1 and hockey isnt gay what do u like soccer...

  • You're the one that said F1 in the first place! Duh!

  • ur wrong coz the last driver who died in f1 was the great ayrton senna in 1994 on the cursed imola weeknd where nothin went right nd its just f1 not f-1 nd the last person 2 die in an f1 event was a marshal hit by debris in 2001

  • That was at Australia when Ralf Schumacher went up the back of Villeneuve and Villeneuve's car scraped the top of the barrier momenterily. And also on the Saturday of Ayrton Senna's death Roland Ratzenburg was also killed, theres a video of it, it's horrible to see his head roll around.

  • which is why no1 has died since 1994 right? touch wood

  • Holy Sh..cow! :o

  • why did they set the car on fire? he could have kept race'n if the would have got him out the car on time. i dont know.

  • The car was on full tanks(45 gallons) it self ignited, and getting Paletti out of there was a harsh task, he had the steeting wheel crushed in this thorso.

  • true, its easy to comment when your not there trying to put out a fire that burns as soon as it touches you with the fear of the car blowing you up.

  • Sorry about the comment below, It was meant as a response to that knobhead Gillivray who posted "ROFLMAO"

  • This was a sad one. I was there, it was grey and cold, the race ended at around 8 o clock, that damn 1982 seasons was the most f*cked up in history, 2 deaths, 11 different race winners, Rosberg won the title with 1 victory, Pironi, championship leader out at Hockenheim....a shitty season.

  • damn burned he alive ??? o mygosh

  • no- he suffered no burns.

  • It was later estimated that he hit that back of Pironi's Ferrari at 140mph. The instrument panel and steering wheel were badly deformed upon impact and crushed Paletti's chest area.

  • yeh you know this sucks , who cares about his death.. lalalala

  • Fucking waste of a life, should never have happened, he was alive, bloody disgrace!

  • should have doused it BEFORE they touched it.

  • Isnt it amazing that youtube will show death, but not a set of boobies??

  • yeah watching some one die is fine but a pair of tits??? Thats just dam right immoral!!!

  • amen, couldnt have said it better myself

  • ROFLMAO

  • DICK!

  • Excuse me dicknose, I am not laughing at the death of a great driver, I was laughing at hojotoh's comment about boobies. Damn you people are quick to jump to conclusions.

  • Yes kind of ironic. It might be about morals, but it's probably more about storage space. Why waste space on boobs (and the spam that comes with it) when one can get them in two seconds from a billion other sites on the net.

  • Stop blaming the cameraman, hes not trained in medical shit nor is he even allowed to step foot on the race track, they have plenty of marshals. The camera will also been zoomed in. Give hima break u really think an educated man enjoys seeing ppl killed ?

  • If you'd watched the film you'd see there is a camera man who HAS 'stepped foot on the race track' and is, infact, wandering around in the bloody way

People are NOT talking about the cameraman tking THIS film, but the one IN SHOT in orange shirt and beige shorts FFS! Pay Attention!

The first poster mentions that he 'GOES AND STANDS NEXT TO PALETTI'S CAR' maybe this is a hint?

  • Well ur wrong because that camerman will also be filming for insurance and any claims to the Paletti estate, that the marshals did their job properly. That cameraman also wudnt be allowed to get involved for his safety alone. Thats his job to broadcast news no matter the situation. Im sure if that man was on his own at the scene, hed do his best to rescue anyone.

  • To quote

"Stop blaming the cameraman, hes not trained in medical shit nor is he even allowed to step foot on the race track"

IS he on the track? (Despite what you say?)

IS he getting in the way?

IS he being waved away by the medical crew?

IS the insurance angle a red herring?

Do you fail to understand the OP's point?

He had no business there while marshals&c were trying to save poor Paletti. The last thing they needed was some fool sticking a camera between them.

  • I was at this race and in the pits , Ricardo's mother was also in the pits and it was a tragic scene.

  • Holy shit man, how did his mother react?

  • It is a FACT that he got NO burns at all because of the protective clothes. He died due to internal injuries.

  • better you ask him instead of speculating about it... you all dont know anything so stfu pls, only nature knows what happened

  • he had no burns mate

  • Ever heard of an autopsy?

  • he was knocked unconcisous becouse of the impact, then the fire happened, he survived the fire with out injury, later in the hospital he was pronounced dead due to internal injuries. The fire had nothing to do with it

  • before the fire, he broken the legs.. i think!

  • He was dead or unavoidably fatally injured before the fire - his head doesn't move.

  • The steering column crushed his chest, he died of massive internal injuries, the fire didnt even touch him

  • The fire wasn`t so serious to kill driver.

  • Oh my this is horrible, oh, so horrible. I want to see that camera man beaten, mugged, then beaten again for notmoving during that tragic even, though I figure he never would have thought that the fire would start or that Riccardo was to pass away during that time period.

  • ..was the first start race for Riccardo..was nice guy

  • This was second start to Paletti first was 14 cars Imola race where he qualified to race.

  • The fire didn't actually injure him, he died in hospital from massive internal injuries caused by the impact

  • i don't think he was dead before the fire.. the fire kileld kim ..

  • He suffered his fatal injuries from the steering column hitting his chests and died later in hospital. He would have died anyway whether the fire happened or not I remember reading once

  • He was death before the fire?

  • ummmm from what i know, they believe he was either dead or unconcious before the fire :) The impact was what was ruled as cause of death, not the resulting fire.

  • He died upon arrival at hospital.

  • One thing for sure, is that he was braindead in the car, but was he dead upon his arrival to hospital....we will never know.

  • (^ω^)

  • Same, such a shame.

  • Tragic, many thought he was killed by the fire but infact it was abdominal injuries from the steering wheel hitting his chest. I wish someone would have beaten up that moronic cameraman who goes and stands next to Palettis's car while the medics are trying to help Paletti.
