  • Ok does it work on a Mac and were do I get the program

  • According to the paper, they used a ToF camera during the experiments. It's really interesting to see a kinect experiment, though.

  • Please, I need talk with you about this project, I'd like this for a commercial application. Please contact me! jean_c_grim@live.com

  • Hi,

Can you kindly point to what super-resolution technique you have been applying here?

    Neeraj

  • the Kinect is not a time of flight camera.

    it's a structured light camera.

    (it projects an IR pattern)

  • Who needs a turntable when you can just walk in circles around an object

  • @trepsta36 Just made my day.

  • Please contact me for a commercial application - brcjackson@gmail.com

  • Hi,

thats cool. WHat do you use for point processing?

    Geomagic GmbH

    Gerd Schwaderer

  • @gerdschwaderer Thank you for your interesting the kinect reconstruction video. There are two main steps on the point cloud processing:

    1. Superresolution - with the superresolution method, we can get a smooth and detail structure object for the moving object

    2. Non-rigid alignment - we can get the final model.

Currently our researchers are writing a paper about this topic, "3D Shape Scanning with a Time-of-Flight Camera"

  • I think you'd have a large market here if you'd make this into a product, so long as the data could be saved in different software formats. The uses are endless.

  • Hello, this is amazing, I hope you will release the code someday.

I think rotation platform scanning would be interesting feature, but as you say "for normal user", I guess most people won't have a rotating platform at home...

It could also be great for scanning whole environments.

  • So good for anything that isn't related to 360, so ironic.

  • This kinect thing is quite amazing for independent game developers. Not only can it be used as an inexpensive alternative to a motion capture suit, but this video has proven it can also be used as an inexpensive 3d scanner.

  • @captawesome79 right, this is our first experiment, now we are doing more experiment, rotate the object, keep the camera still. But we will not to try two or three kinect, because we want to do this for normal user. :)

  • Cool~~, can use the Kinect to do the 3D photo for persons at home.
