All you Australians are dip shits, who cares where the fucking thing is built ? Everything about that car was designed and thought up, in America by Americans. Any country can" Assemble" a car.....
Toyota's, Mazda's, and Nissan's are built in america does that make them american? All the Holden vehicles are made on the same chasis and platforms as other gm vehicles. The Holden Barina= pontiac g3, holden Astra= pontiac vibe, holden Epica=chevy malibu, holden statesman= buick lucern, holden captiva=saturn vue, they are all made from the same gm parts and i hear the holden will get it's own version of the new camaro, is that going to be concidered australian too?
Every Holden is a rebadged model from overseas, excluding the commodore. Of course there is part and knowledge sharing between arms of GM but over a billion dollars was spent developing the VE from scratch.
SThoogie, Statesman and Lucerne share nothing at ALL. For one, the Statesman is rwd, and the Lucerne is not. The Statesman is on the Zeta platform, and was designed in Australia along with the VE Commodore. Theres a Buick version of the Statesman assembled in China, called the Buick park Avenue. And the Pontiac Vibe is based off a Toyota Voltz/Matrix, not the Opel Astra.
ChevyPowa670...Chill out! Aussies are the friends of Americans...okay? Now to some facts. the car was completely designed in Australia, not the US. The only component designed in the US is the engine but even that was reconfigured in Australia. That doesn't make "us" better than "you"...In this crazy world it's more like the US and Australia are the "us" versus the rest of the crazy extremist sh!ts, etc.. in the world.
i test drove a gt and a gto and it really doesnt bother me thats its an austrailian originated car. the engine and transmission are very solid in both cars and i definately am going to purchase it . and ive test driven a dodge charger r/t and i gotta say that the pontiac g8 is WAAAAY better and cheaper
@darndarn29 America has always had a fascination with muscle cars, even when they stopped building them. Australia took the concept and made it efficient; V8 power that still pulled good fuel economy, and it could corner and stop quickly when required. For a comparison in the 70s, look up "HQ Monaro coupe" and "XB Falcon coupe." For 1980s, "VK Group A Commodore," and the 90s, "VN SS Commodore" and "EB GT Falcon" Both Ford and Holden still build versions today
I just bought a 2009 G8 GT Sport Metallic Red this week. I had no intention of buying a car this week but after giving it a test drive while my 2006 Buick LaCrosse CXS was getting serviced I was hooked. 0% financing, Military Discount (equivalent to GMS Discount), good trade in, and $1000 on GM Card. Great deal. Great car.
Do you realize that the Pontiac G8 is a re-branded Australian built Holden Commodore which was designed entirely in Australia and the Pontiac G8 is fully assembled at the Elizabeth plant in Australia. This car is actually sold under 4 different brand names
1. Holden Commodore in Australia and New Zealand.
2. Vauxhall VXR8 in the UK.
3. Pontiac G8 in the US.
4.Chevrolet Lumina SS in South Africa and some parts of the Middle East.

you're also an idiot then:

2) the transmission (if you have the automatic) was designed by general motors themselves in the US (it is of course the 6L80, also used in pickups with different gearing)
3) the pontiac specific trim was designed by pontiac in the US

Thats why the Commodore is able to be re-branded under Pontiac, Vauxhall and Chevrolet badges! all GM owned,
People are all ready suspecting that your retarded, don't confirm there suspicion by posting another comment.

Ha, the typical foreign car is superior mind set. Open your eyes jackass! Every review you see compares this car to a BMW. Keep buying your POS toyota, and fucking the American economy.
america needs toyota, to keep jobs comming dumb ass, toyota is made in america, dumb ass, you open your eyes, BMW? fuck em, who needs em nowadays, you can buy toyotas for less than half and have just as good. you open your eyes, bmw doesn't even have a truck, toyota is bigger than gm and every other car maker, why? because they are the best, believe that
All I can do is laugh. I want you to read what you just wrote... Now think about it, I know its hard. BTW, GM makes cars all over the world as well. Where do you think the revenue goes?
the revenue goes to other failing divisions of GM like pontiac, just because of they're unstoppable belief that they can feed the american public any type of garbage they want just to satisfy they're need for total dominance, well those days are over, go toyota! me read what i wrote? you cant even spell BMW and it ain't even a word. Name one other pontiac thats good, just one other one, i dare you, there isn't one bud,
those POS TOY-ota are NOT made in America the are assembled here and the parts are made in japan dumbass!! the tundra sucks ass any ways its puny little v6 has worse mpg than a chevy, ford, and dodge V8! so go eat some rice and help ruin Americas economy jackass!
ok, hold on, your telling me youd rather own a pontiac over toyota? theres no way you can compare mcshit, to toyota. Toyota is quality, tough shit, you can beat the engine with a bad repeadedly for days and i'll still run. Do that with a precious pontiac, its done, crap bye bye its over. Why do you think toyota is bigger than GM. Because they don't have a good product. Look how many vehicles GM owns, lincoln, cadillac list goes on and on, but toyota is toyota, the best
I laugh! Ha. VanDub?! More like VanDumb. GM owns Lincoln, are you serious!! Try Ford. Any way that is not the point. Toyota has not real engines that can take beatings, anyone who drives one is like, ooh look at me and the quality i have. Bull. It is public perception, starting from 2005 and on, all of GM's redesigned products are top in quality ratings, do they sell, no because of public perception. I guarantee that you have not owned a Pontiac in this decade, try one.
vandouchebag........you dont know what your talking about .... my dad was the service manager at a toyota dealership for ten years and the shop was full of BROKEN toyotas every day, just like every other car made, toyota breaks just as much as any other brand, it just happens that toyota is very boring right now
I had 230,000 km on my 1995 Pontiac before it wrecked. It still was running strong! One of my favorite cars is the Pontiac Fiero: last year one in a club I belong to hit over 1,600,000km and it's still running!
Yeah, we'd rather own a Pontiac G8 GT than a pussy-fied Toyota Camry! Men drive cars like the G-8, while pussies drive their Toyotas. Follow the sheeple now....enjoy your appliance....opps, I mean enjoy your Toyota!
How bout you take a drive in a camry, then one of these, then give an informed opinion. If reliability was the sole reason to purchase a vehicle.... well go ahead and buy your camry, its a free world. i prefer a bit more style and handling and power thanks.
its not the same years as the aztec and grand prix its a "new era" with the new gto, solstice and G8... you should shut up before looking like a complete moron
a lot more better, fuck ya it is, alot better, but in the long run this car will break down, gass will go through the roof, what do you need this car for? Pontiac? come on....toyotas got the tacoma, camry se, supras, common now, pontiac? they got nothing, absolutely garbage. The only reason why they're commin' out with this car is because they're appealing to the hip hop crowd by getting 50 cent to sponser Pontiac, fuck 50 and fuck garbage like a pontiac, fuck em boys stick with prooven quality
Oh, does the Camry have 361 horse power and cater to the same crowd? Oh no, no, I guess you had put no thought into that statement. Try, should have gotten an M1 Abrams..more reliable... yea, just as dumb
Palmsphat's words are wise, read them...absorb them..become one with shhhhh, Camry's are for soccer moms and guys that drink Zima....no go find an opener ;)
and the charger isn't, and the challenger isn't, and the new camaro isn't, what about the mustang even that thing is big... so all these new american cars are huge. not dissing them or anything just saying.
Seriously, this car is actually cool. If GM isn't going to Axe Pontiac this and the Solstice are the direction they ought to go in. For the love of god GM, get rid of cars like the G3, or the Vibe...blerch.
the 09 g8 gt is actually faster than the 09gxp with a few mods that still makes it cheaper than the gxp. i have a 09 gt and when its in sport mode the suspension lowers and it drives just like a manual and isnt like those piece of shit cars that still shift if u over rev it nope the g8 will hold that gear and u have to shift right at 5200rpm or it does lag just like a manual if u ask me its better cuz its easier city driving when u are not fooling around but great fun in sport mode when u r
Such a great car that can be had in the 30 to 33 grand range for 2009. 90% of the pussies crying about the lack of a manual tranny cannot afford a $15,000 used car (or have a chance at getting a car loan)let alone a new G8, so shut the fuck up little pussies. Mommy is calling you...she just fixed you a sandwich with some cookies. Yeah, run into the Pontiac dealership and pretend to be a serious buyer for the new G8 while you're really there just to pick up a brochure.....fucking lame pussies....
And 88% of those pussies will wait for the manual version to be offered and then buy it. Or find another vehicle with a manual gearbox. Simple as that Chet.
I heard about the GXP, but why don't all models have a manual option it really is a let down because I wanted the GT because it gives you so much more for only like 2-4 grand more than the standard model...hopefully they'll release one with it soon
OMG near the begining he revs it right after starting it, what a moron don't they know you have to let the oil temp and pressure come up berfore you rev it past 4k RPM otherwise you risk damaging your engine.
One, not his car. Two, the car was probably just recently turned off, so the temps were probably up. I doubt the car had a chance to cool off sitting on the side of the road.
Holden is the GM arm in Australia, (GM = Chevy for fatboyslimmy). And things probably sound different because the starter probably isn't even made in the US, the tranny is from Mexico, so who knows. Good for you, Pontiac
you guys this car is not american at all . ameriacans couldnt make tihs kind of car. its actually a rebadged holden monaro cv8 from australia monaro which is just a subsidiary of ford. look it up if you wish.
wtf fatboy. Firstly, its a rebadged Holden Commodore SS. 2ndly, the Monaro CV8 was the last of the 2 door Commodores made during the VT to VX series run. 3rdly, do you mean Mondeo, coz thats a Ford. Do some research dude!
seriously could you be more of a douchebag, how is this a monaro. like my boy seanus71 has said its a VE commodore ss. built by holden in australia. holden owned by GM. not ford. hence why there is a holden v ford rivalry in australia. god americans are ignorant. its also running on the australian made zeta platform which will be used for the upcoming camaro being tested currently in australia.
It actually is not bad for the money. It is sold in the MidEast as Chevy Lumina SS. It is originaly an Ausi Holden. As for looking like an accord, it came out in other markets before the new accord.
I think you're wrong. Have a look at the FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) F6, competitor of the HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) range. One of the Australian car mags tested the FPV F6 against the fastest HSV model (GTS I think) and the FPV was faster, and was rated as the better car.
The HSV GTS is a faster, better version of the Holden Commodore SS V (basically this car).
the hsv and f6 have identical 0-100 times of 5.1 seconds but the hsv is quiker over the 1/4 mile by not alot i will admit. thats only because of a strong turbo setup. fpv's fastest v8 is half a second slower to the 100 and on the 1/4 compared to the GTS. now hsv's new model- W427 does 0-100 in 4.7 seconds so there still faster.
I was stating the figures in the mag I read. In it, the FPV was faster to 100kmph and to 400m.
HSV's V8s are quite a bit quicker than FPV's, but then the FPV F6, according to the mag (either Motor or Wheels - can't remember which), is faster than any HSV, bar the W427.
The W427 will be faster than any FPV, but not by much; however, it will be almost $100k more than the F6. Hardly good value for money considering the small increase in performance.
u gotta be kidding me. the w427 will be a hell of a lot faster then any fpv and the price is justifiable as its a collectors car and its basically a new age walkingshaw. hopefully no fukhead ford driver buys one.
get ur facts rite. better yet look it up through the motor mag. the gts isnt the fastest model anymore anyway...ford/fpv have no competitor for the hsv w427
Pontiac's corporate grill is pretty lame but other than that, cool car. Im seeing some BMW cues and the silhouette is reminescent of the new Accord. Hopefully people will buy it up.

Holden Australia has been designing and building Commodores since the late 1970's
The current VE series model was entirely designed and built in Australia by Australians.
Its main markets are Australia and New Zealand where its been one of the best selling large sedans for the past 10years.
Only a fraction are built in left hand drive rebranded and exported to the states as the Pontiac G8.

selkirk4life 3 years ago 2
yea, but pontiac? common
VanDub 3 years ago
How bout you take a drive in a camry, then one of these, then give an informed opinion. If reliability was the sole reason to purchase a vehicle.... well go ahead and buy your camry, its a free world. i prefer a bit more style and handling and power thanks.

its not the same years as the aztec and grand prix its a "new era" with the new gto, solstice and G8... you should shut up before looking like a complete moron
LexSullivan 3 years ago
its a lot more better than it was...
LexSullivan 3 years ago
a lot more better, fuck ya it is, alot better, but in the long run this car will break down, gass will go through the roof, what do you need this car for? Pontiac? come on....toyotas got the tacoma, camry se, supras, common now, pontiac? they got nothing, absolutely garbage. The only reason why they're commin' out with this car is because they're appealing to the hip hop crowd by getting 50 cent to sponser Pontiac, fuck 50 and fuck garbage like a pontiac, fuck em boys stick with prooven quality
VanDub 3 years ago
Oh, does the Camry have 361 horse power and cater to the same crowd? Oh no, no, I guess you had put no thought into that statement. Try, should have gotten an M1 Abrams..more reliable... yea, just as dumb
pilotemtnils 3 years ago
Palmsphat's words are wise, read them...absorb them..become one with shhhhh, Camry's are for soccer moms and guys that drink Zima....no go find an opener ;)

just remember you Americans it comes from Australia!!! but yeah mid-sized?? its bloody huge!!
heymario1000 3 years ago
and the charger isn't, and the challenger isn't, and the new camaro isn't, what about the mustang even that thing is big... so all these new american cars are huge. not dissing them or anything just saying.
erat91 3 years ago
A Pontiac that doesn't suck? Does not compute.
Seriously, this car is actually cool. If GM isn't going to Axe Pontiac this and the Solstice are the direction they ought to go in. For the love of god GM, get rid of cars like the G3, or the Vibe...blerch.
vkeightyfive 3 years ago
Is this thing really considered a "mid-sized" car in the US?
In Australia, it's considered a large car.
mekarls 3 years ago
Good point. It is a big car and should be in the full-size category. The only car that is really large is the awful Chrysler 300.
johngrove 3 years ago
my dad has the second fastest g8 in the us and to proove it the new gm mag he will be in it 0-60 3.5
chadman1010167 3 years ago
the 09 g8 gt is actually faster than the 09gxp with a few mods that still makes it cheaper than the gxp. i have a 09 gt and when its in sport mode the suspension lowers and it drives just like a manual and isnt like those piece of shit cars that still shift if u over rev it nope the g8 will hold that gear and u have to shift right at 5200rpm or it does lag just like a manual if u ask me its better cuz its easier city driving when u are not fooling around but great fun in sport mode when u r

"as you can see the 4 wheels abs disck breaks work very well also"
VERY GOOD!! haha do you hear this guy where do hey find em...?
shonzy7 3 years ago
Such a great car that can be had in the 30 to 33 grand range for 2009. 90% of the pussies crying about the lack of a manual tranny cannot afford a $15,000 used car (or have a chance at getting a car loan)let alone a new G8, so shut the fuck up little pussies. Mommy is calling you...she just fixed you a sandwich with some cookies. Yeah, run into the Pontiac dealership and pretend to be a serious buyer for the new G8 while you're really there just to pick up a brochure.....fucking lame pussies....
aaaredskin 3 years ago
Or, they want a G8 with a manual. You are probably just a pussy that can't drive a car with 3 pedals.
Raviotar 3 years ago
And 88% of those pussies will wait for the manual version to be offered and then buy it. Or find another vehicle with a manual gearbox. Simple as that Chet.
a7xevil 3 years ago
not a bad car! but let me know if they figure out what their enthusiasts want- i want my damn manual!!
Winjury 3 years ago
it does have a manual shift mode ya know
pens71malkin 3 years ago
lol. manual shift "mode" is not a manual
Winjury 3 years ago
I heard about the GXP, but why don't all models have a manual option it really is a let down because I wanted the GT because it gives you so much more for only like 2-4 grand more than the standard model...hopefully they'll release one with it soon
HistoryMajor7 3 years ago
Anyone know if they will end up offering the G8 GT with a manual transmission because when I found out there wasn't any so far I was disappointed
HistoryMajor7 3 years ago
The GXP will offer a 6spd and 400HP/Torque
a7xevil 3 years ago
I'm pretty sure the GT will come with a 6spd eventually too.
Raviotar 3 years ago
everyone needs to stop bitchin about were this car is actually made! This car looks great, almost 30mpg and is under 30K? I'll take one.

thats a stupid question...the pontiac of course!
wannabeangel83 3 years ago
OMG near the begining he revs it right after starting it, what a moron don't they know you have to let the oil temp and pressure come up berfore you rev it past 4k RPM otherwise you risk damaging your engine.
bangcamaro226 3 years ago
One, not his car. Two, the car was probably just recently turned off, so the temps were probably up. I doubt the car had a chance to cool off sitting on the side of the road.

yea you dumass, i personaly redline my car in the middle of the winter when i first start it up,, helps it warm up quicker.

HOLDEN is GM if it was Ford it wouldnt be going that fast and itll b dead
vlbhb 3 years ago
The FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) F6 has actually been tested as faster than the fastest HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) model.
teutonicpenguin 3 years ago
Holden is the GM arm in Australia, (GM = Chevy for fatboyslimmy). And things probably sound different because the starter probably isn't even made in the US, the tranny is from Mexico, so who knows. Good for you, Pontiac
JohnMaverick42 3 years ago
GOOD FOR YOU IS RIGHT JOHN!
tcp2150 3 years ago
If it is a GM why does it have a starter that sounds like a dodge.
ggutr957 3 years ago
you guys this car is not american at all . ameriacans couldnt make tihs kind of car. its actually a rebadged holden monaro cv8 from australia monaro which is just a subsidiary of ford. look it up if you wish.
fatboyslimmy 3 years ago
wtf fatboy. Firstly, its a rebadged Holden Commodore SS. 2ndly, the Monaro CV8 was the last of the 2 door Commodores made during the VT to VX series run. 3rdly, do you mean Mondeo, coz thats a Ford. Do some research dude!
seanus71 3 years ago 2
seriously could you be more of a douchebag, how is this a monaro. like my boy seanus71 has said its a VE commodore ss. built by holden in australia. holden owned by GM. not ford. hence why there is a holden v ford rivalry in australia. god americans are ignorant. its also running on the australian made zeta platform which will be used for the upcoming camaro being tested currently in australia.
22dnk 3 years ago
Ford? Cmon. Americans and Australians BOTH have a passion for MUSCLE. Holden is a GM subsidiary man. LOOK IT UP IF YOU WISH.
tcp2150 3 years ago
It actually is not bad for the money. It is sold in the MidEast as Chevy Lumina SS. It is originaly an Ausi Holden. As for looking like an accord, it came out in other markets before the new accord.

This looks like a tissue box, I mean shit box... Fords are better..

Found on road dead?oooooooh ford!
GM kicks its ass!
rainbowbritekicksazz 3 years ago
I think you're wrong. Have a look at the FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) F6, competitor of the HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) range. One of the Australian car mags tested the FPV F6 against the fastest HSV model (GTS I think) and the FPV was faster, and was rated as the better car.
The HSV GTS is a faster, better version of the Holden Commodore SS V (basically this car).
teutonicpenguin 3 years ago
the hsv and f6 have identical 0-100 times of 5.1 seconds but the hsv is quiker over the 1/4 mile by not alot i will admit. thats only because of a strong turbo setup. fpv's fastest v8 is half a second slower to the 100 and on the 1/4 compared to the GTS. now hsv's new model- W427 does 0-100 in 4.7 seconds so there still faster.
hsvdreamnofone 3 years ago
I was stating the figures in the mag I read. In it, the FPV was faster to 100kmph and to 400m.
HSV's V8s are quite a bit quicker than FPV's, but then the FPV F6, according to the mag (either Motor or Wheels - can't remember which), is faster than any HSV, bar the W427.
The W427 will be faster than any FPV, but not by much; however, it will be almost $100k more than the F6. Hardly good value for money considering the small increase in performance.
I'd buy a Nissan GT-R for that money.
teutonicpenguin 3 years ago
u gotta be kidding me. the w427 will be a hell of a lot faster then any fpv and the price is justifiable as its a collectors car and its basically a new age walkingshaw. hopefully no fukhead ford driver buys one.
hsvdreamnofone 3 years ago
get ur facts rite. better yet look it up through the motor mag. the gts isnt the fastest model anymore anyway...ford/fpv have no competitor for the hsv w427
hsvdreamnofone 3 years ago
Is that all you can say.

Pontiac's corporate grill is pretty lame but other than that, cool car. Im seeing some BMW cues and the silhouette is reminescent of the new Accord. Hopefully people will buy it up.
bdivy1 3 years ago 3
I dont know why you got a thumbs down for that. I see alot of BMW inspiration. And thats not a bad thing.
