When they were cheering louder i thought it was a close race only to find out when we finished that there was a capsized boat they got all excited for :<

ngtrepreneur - its not the steers persons fault, nor the crews fault. it was not H2O's intention to ram the boat and tip it, in fact they stayed on shore till all of DCH got to shore as did other crews and if i recall we were chanting DCH when they got on shore.

It's the officials fault for starting the race with both boats in the same lane.

it's really not that funny. someone could of seriously get hurt. H2O should not take that lightly. Someone could of been knocked in the head with the boat. It's the steerer's fault and it showed no class on the behalf of H20 for those cheering in the boat and those cheering the the shore.

not really, you cant use a dragonboat to pull paddlers out of the water. you will just end up capsizing the other boat. they did what they could which was to throw us their pdfs

Where was the race official's head? Baking in the sun? Give the boats time to align. Everyone in the stands could see the two boats started too close together. What is the proper etiquette after ramming a boat? Stop and pull in swimmers?

As a participant in the demo race... I would blame the stupid official for allowing lane 2 to drift into lane 3 then deciding to start the race anyway disregarding the safety of the crews. when Instead he could of gotten the teams to drift in and start that way.
